Pavo Ocellus - Page 11: Kaeya's birthday part 3 "Crepus had two regrets in life. One was never becoming a knight, and the other was never obtaining a Vision. For this reason, in the moment that Diluc received his Vision, he took it as a recognition by the gods of his and his father's shared ambition — finally, he could make his father proud." Diluc started using the Vision very young. If the Visions represent everyone's ambition, Diluc's was probably to please his father. One of the things I'd like to explore with this comic is my Crepus headcanons and how he projects his ambition onto Diluc. I think their dynamic greatly affects how Diluc is later in the story and explains his internal conflicts when he's gone. How do you think master Crepus was with him?

Pavo Ocellus - Page 9: Kaeya's birthday part 1 There’re still a few weeks left until Kaeya's birthday, but I wanted to start uploading this scene already, since it will be a bit long (about 6-7 pages). This wasn’t planned at first, but it seemed a good opportunity to dedicate more time to Kaeya adjusting to living with the Ragnvindr after losing his family. And it’s always a pleasure to draw Diluc as a child with the usual Pyro user energy. I hope you’ll like it!

Pavo Ocellus - Page 8: So I'm older, right? I'm back! After a few weeks of hiatus, Pavo Ocellus will continue this month with a scene related to Kaeya's first birthday in the Ragnvindr house. Kaeya still doesn't get along very well with Diluc, but Diluc is determined to make him his new best friend at all costs. I think that Diluc being so innocent and cheerful as a child, even though Kaeya never admitted it, helped him a lot to overcome the loss and abandonment. (And when everything changed, it was Kaeya who took on the role of being super annoying with him, maybe because it was the only way he knew to be there for him.) I still don't know when exactly I'll upload the new pages because I'm planning a lot of things at the same time, but I think it will be updates very soon, so stay tuned!

Pavo Ocellus - Page 7: The first little lie. [Kaeya dialoge with Traveler and Paimon in his story quest: "How should I begin... Oh, right, let me tell you a secret first. It's a secret about my past, and I confide in you to keep it. [...] As a matter of fact, my grandfather was a pirate! [...] Look at my eye patch! I inherited it from my grandfather and this is solid proof that we are related by blood!"] [Diluc voice-over: "Kaeya? You can only trust half of what he says... at best."] A bit of foreshadowing about Kaeya's lie about his eye patch. In this fancomic, the idea behind this came from Diluc. Kaeya continued with that fantasy for years to avoid telling the truth that he was hiding. And when he grew up, everyone assumed that it was the result of some fight he preferred not to talk about, so they stopped asking. When the Traveler arrived, he remembered again that first little lie. He remembered the games about treasures, ships and pirates that he invented with Diluc. He remembered how cheerful, carefree and innocent he used to be. How he used to smile at him, even though he didn't really know anything about him.

Pavo Ocellus - Page 6: Eyepatch I liked the idea of starting this story with Kaeya being very shy and quiet and Diluc an outgoing sunshine boy, knowing that little by little Kaeya will learn to hide behind his extroverted and sarcastic mask and Diluc won't trust people so easily anymore and will became more lonely with the time. The next page will probably be the end of Kaeya's arrival at Mondstradt, so from next week I'll be working on small scenes and headcanons that I have from Diluc and Kaeya's childhood the time they spent together before their fight, but as I commented in the stories, I will take a break from uploading pages every week to be able to make them better. [Kaeya will always be grateful for how Crepus treated him that day. He let him into the mansion without hesitation, gave her dry clothes and let him warm in front of the fireplace.

Even so, he never managed to melt the ice that grew on his chest that night. Between those cozy walls, the memories of what happened before reaching the Dawn Winery seemed like a distant nightmare, like the storm they had left behind, still pounding against the windows.

Even when the Grand Master demanded information on his background, Kaeya skirted around the issue and gave only vague answers devoid of details. "One afternoon near the end of summer a decade ago, my father and I passed by the Dawn Winery." "'I'll go get us some grape juice for the road,' he said, but he never came back." "If Master Crepus hadn't taken me in, I doubt I'd have made it through the storm that night." This matter-of-fact description hides a carefully constructed lie.
