My first real attempt at baking and decorating. Lemon cake (Betty Crocker box mix with milk and butter instead of water and oil), raspberry Jello mousse filling, and vanilla buttercream frosting. I should have used stiffer buttercream for the Russian piped roses, but for one of my first attempts I'm pretty proud

I feel like I could make a blog just on the crazy things my husband’s grandmother says.

Discussing unborn daughter- Grandma In Law: I bet she has curly hair and is tall and long legged Me: *just sitting there all 5'2" with my slick straight hair*

I'd like to just go back and say that yeah, my daughter has curly hair and is extremely tall for her age. So, grandma in law is a sorceress.

"At least my 4 year old daughter thinks I'm cool" I think to myself as we both draamtically belt out Lost in the Woods

At my daughter's dance class and I hear Into The Unknown coming from her classroom, and she is singing along at the top of her lungs

Idk if anyone even follows my blog or cares, but it's been like 2 years and Lily is a 4 year old now.

Also we have another baby, Jean.

The toddler bed

Last week we switched to a toddler bed. Lily had been going to her crib when I told her it was bedtime, laying down and going to sleep by herself for several months, so we decided it was time. I expected it to be hard, I had been told by so many people they wouldn't stay in the bed. And the first night was, she cried every time I tried to lay her down in it. Finally I crawled in beside her and she patted her little pillow next to her head and said, "Mommy!" I laid down next to her and asked her, "Is it scary because it's new baby?" And her response was a watery little, "yeah..." So I laid with her until she fell asleep and then got up, and she slept the whole night. Then, the next night, when I asked her if she was ready to go lay down, she said night night to dog and meow, grabbed her Elmo and her Mickey, and walked back to her room and climbed into her bed. I began to lay down in the floor next to her, thinking it would be a slow process to get her used to it. I was so surprised when she said, "No mommy. Rock." Meaning she wanted me to go sit in the recliner in her room like I usually do as she's falling asleep. So I went and rocked, and she fell asleep by herself, and I cried because my baby no longer needed me.

One day I'm going to miss this, I say to myself as my toddler yells at me for taking too long to slice her grapes

Every time a song ends, my daughter will say "yay!" And clap. This is especially cute in the car listening to the radio.

I think when you have kids, time seems to speed up because suddenly every second of every day matters like it never mattered before.
