as an extremely invested and intense half life fan ever since i was literally a small child in 2006 watching my dad play through hl2, I give all of you HLVRAI People™ full permission to casually enjoy a funnie spinoff youtube fanseries without being gatekept by pretentious weirdos who think you're Enjoying It Wrong for not playing the og games that the fanseries diverges so heavily from that at this point they're almost unrelated to each other

Lmao y'all are corny acting pretentious like Half Life is some kind of serious source material. It's a game lmao, it's just for fun. It came out before a lot of people on this website who enjoy HLVRAI were born. Give them a break.

You would think people would be happy that this series is renewing interest in an old game like Half Life! We can enjoy these things with new people who are picking up the game for the first time.

As an adult, you're supposed to realize that playing a game "correctly" or knowing the Deep Lore (TM) or playing before it was pOpuLaR doesn't make you cool, and it doesn't make the game any more fun.

At the end of the day, it's supposed to be about playing and having fun. Let people laugh at the weird-looking old 1990s models ragdolling and going "aaaaa" and clipping through the scenery.

one of the most disappointing things to me about Skyrim is how the Thieves Guild went from being an organization of poor people watching out for and protecting each other and banding against the ruling class in Oblivion, and then the Thieves Guild in Skyrim are just a gang of thugs that shake down poor people and do the bidding of one of the richest families in the province.

If the story was better written, which of course this is Bethesda so it isn't, you could say that the Guild dissolving into how it is in Skyrim is the fault of Mercer Frey and his corruption. Mercer's greed was boundless, so it would make sense that the Skyrim Guild was pushed to become Maven's lapdog in his ceaseless attempts at gaining more gold. If the story had continued further past Mercer's death and if Todd Coward knew how to write a decent arc, the restoration of the Guild could have seen you breaking ties with the Black- Briars and reverting to a more Cyrodilic Guild-Type.
