Is there rly any softer scene than when o'malley sees duchess and falls in love with her at first sight in the aristocats, complimenting her at every turn and climbing into a cherry blossom tree to make the flower petals snow gracefully down on her? How dreamy 🥀💕
This Is Love 😍😍
Not to mention when he found she had kids, he was thrown for a second, then proceeded to not only still help her, but dote on them too.
“Not all men” you’re right, Abraham DeLacey Giuseppe Casey Thomas O’Malley would never.
Do I think, since he’s a stray, everyone of those names was a different name from a different person who would leave food out for him or take care of him in general? Like one lady called him Abraham and another little boy called him delacey and so on?
man victorian slang was fucking lethal
literally how was anyone expected to say something like this with a straight face
*lying on my velvet chaise lounge in my robe and slippers* sorry old chap, but i won't be able to make it out tonight. i'm afraid i've got the morbs.
My favourite sentence is "bitch the pot, I've got the morbs" which means "pour me some tea, I'm depressed"
type “i am” in the tags and whatever comes up first is your new mandatory kin
Well then
“Girls from 7-Eleven stay up all night, 24 hours a day–I said girls from 7-Eleven stay up all night, 7 whole days a week…!”
The other day I watched a little boy get knocked to the ground by an older kid who was running by. He burst into tears as his mother hurried over.
“Here’s a bandaid for ya,” I said, producing one from my vest pocket.
“Oh, he’s not bleeding, thank you though!”
I lowered my voice and leaned in. “Kids think bandaids are health magic,” I said. “Ask him where it hurts and exploit that placebo effect.”
She did just that, and instantly the kid stopped crying and thanked her. “I’ll have to remember that,” she said.
Children: #HACKED
Also if you have a crying kid give them a cup of water. You can’t cry and drink at the same time and it gives them a chance to calm down.
Tell them their going to run out of tears so they drink the water.
My mom does this at her preschool after awhile the other children start offering the crying child little cups of water.
Stuff like this is also a great test to see if the kid is actually seriously injured! Because with how much some kids cry over tiny bumps and scrapes, it can be hard to tell. But if you slap a Band-Aid on it or give them a cup of water or a piece of candy and they stop crying, they’re fine. If they keep crying despite whatever little placebo or distraction you’ve given them, you might wanna look a little closer at that injury or seek medical attention.
With my two’s class we ask them “more hurt or more scary?” It takes a bit of practice but after a few times they can answer without more prompting. More scary gets a hug and more hurt gets a look over.
That last one is so important because it validates the child’s feelings and tells them it’s okay to have these feelings and lets them learn how to deal with them, rather than just distracting them from them. I also helps teach the child to both communicate their feelings more readily and communicate when they’re hurt more clearly. All really important skills for a child to develop young.
A very important thing I have to remember with little kids is that if they are crying and freaking out like something we (as grown humans) would consider small is the worst thing that has ever happened to them, that’s because it probably IS the worst thing that’s ever happened to them! Little things we can dismiss like scraped knees and bruised palms are BRAND NEW to them and they’ve never experienced anything like it before! Whatever it is it’s a very big deal for tiny humans because they don’t have the experience to say “it’s not that bad” yet.
Another thing that’s really helpful to keep in mind: Kids are JUST STARTING to get a grasp on being autonomous (around 4-5yrs) when we send them to school and take a lot of it away. Is your kindergartener “uncontrollable” or are they just trying to get a tiny shred of their power back when they went from being able to call at least the occasional shot at home to being under Yet Another Adult’s Unquestionable Rule? Erikson wasn’t a total quack! (Freud was tho.)
We deal with this in the hospital. Kids are Totally Normal before they get sick or hurt, and then they’re “a totally different person” when they’re admitted. Parents are alarmed that there must be something SUPER WRONG with their kid—they’re acting so different!—when all that’s wrong is we’ve upended their whole world view.
Fact: Bisexual women and lesbians used to give each other violets to symbolize their love in the early 20th century, referencing a poem by Sappho. Gay and bisexual men used to wear carnations, a trend started by Oscar Wilde. Gay and bisexual communities have always been intertwined, sharing in each other’s love and struggles and creating history together.
I hate men so much they literally are like this. Purposeful incompetence to avoid responsibilities they don’t want …………… the comments on this post on fb were So bad
Save the leftovers. Throw the whole man out.
Imagine being this fucking petty over a reasonable request to do even a fraction of the share of housework, and thinking you’re a good partner. Makes you understand how so many dudes can be clueless and full of shit on so many other topics, too.
I hope his wife poured a glass of spaghetti and gulped it slowly while making steady eye contact with him as her lawyer presented the divorce papers.
“Haha, that’ll TEACH my wife!!”
Dude, you’re supposed to LOVE her. I hope she sees this and dumps your worthless ass. While she has that glass of spaghetti.
#marie kondo your marriage
Don’t put up with stupid. If your husband or boyfriend does this may I suggest… well… treating him like the idiot he pretends to be? Use it as a “teaching moment.”
“Honey come here. I’m sorry. I didn’t realize you didn’t know what Tupperware you have to use. Here, let me explain every container we have. That way the next time you have to put food away you know which container to use.”
And then proceed, in excruciating detail, which containers are which, what they are used for, the correct lids, and how to put on the lids. Do it in as condescending voice as possible.
If he tries to say that he knows, or tries to stop you in any way, just calmly say, “no, you shouldn’t be embarrassed by this. It’s okay to admit you don’t know how to do something. Next time just ask, sweetie.” And continue in as much inane detail as possible.
If he tries this bullshit again, pat him on the head, and say “good try, but let’s review” and then do it all over again.
doctors in the 19th century really were like maam i diagnose you with woman
Doctors today are still really like ma'am I diagnose you with woman
I’m both pro herbal medicine and pro vaccination because you can treat burns with aloe vera juice and sore throats with lavender infused honey but you can’t rid a country of polio with plants.
Don’t forget kids, jewelweed is a natural counteragent to poison ivy rashes but it won’t do shit against whooping cough
Mint for nausea, valerian and chamomile for sleep, antibiotics for fucking infections.

On another episode of awkward moments in my private time
Okay. Guilty pleasure. I love taking stupid internet quizzes, especially when they're like "which picture makes you feel feely?" Because art+psychology+boredom alright. So I did one today and it was really cute and legit and I was like weeee and then. Accidentally clicked on what I thought was an ad but turned out to be another quiz. So I was like whatever I'll do this one too. And it was supposed to tell you how sexual you are, or that's what I thought and it was really interesting because it used artistic illusions and the first thing you see and whatever. But when I got my "results" I realized it wasn't that, it wasn't like whoa hey calm your hormones a lil sexy lady. It was basically a scale of how gay you are. I mean it's not how it explained it was basically like where you land on a scale of completely heterosexual to homosexual to erryboddy style romancin. And I was like ok cool w/e I'm pretty odd on that so this will be interesting cuz i know I'm not exactly the straightest ya know. But then it was like hey wow you're super straight and not into the opposite sex at all for these reasons and stuff. Which I thought was strange because I had always been pretty into ladies tho I ended up with the dudeliest dude. Which is still a bit wired but I digress. BUT THEN. YALL. I looked at the top and basically it was the results for a dude taking the test. So like it said opposite sex as in women. Because all of my answers were like WOW U LIKE GIRLS CALM DOWN. And I thought it was telling me I was super duper hetero but. Really. Not at all lmao. Welp.
Sometimes, it’s easier to tell a stranger something very personal. It`s like there’s less risk, opening yourself up to someone who doesn’t know you.
