It’s Swordtember time!! Just a few days to go, and here’s this year’s list suggested by my lovely patrons!!

And, what is swordtember? The challenge is to design one sword a day going off of these prompts! You can draw, write, 3D model, crochet, sculpt - just make something cool and sharp!!!

The main focus is HAVE FUN! I have met so many awesome artists through this challenge, and it’s awesome waking up every day to see what people are making :}

Okay but for anyone who legit wants to know how to calculate it correctly:

The elbow joint on average rests a couple inches higher than the navel, so if you measure how long the distance is from the middle of the shoulder to that point then you have the length of the upper and fore arms!

So if anyone’s wondering about legs too, the simplest rule of thumb is that the length from the top of the leg to the knee is equal to the distance between the top of the leg and the bottom of the pectorals:

And I wanna stress that when i say “top of the leg” i’m not talking about the crotch (please don’t flag me tumblr it’s an anatomical term) i’m talking about the point where the femur connects to the pelvis, which is higher up on the hips:

It’s easier to see what I’m talking about in this photo of a man squatting: 

So yeah if you use that measurement when using this technique you should get fairly realistically proportioned legs:

But remember! messing with proportions is an important and fun part of character design! Know the rules first so you can then break them however you please!

this year I'm gonna do inktober (for the first time in several years) as #ravenstobers.

here you can see my challenge list with some theme and quotes from The Raven Cycle books.

I'm gonna draw with ink on watercolor paper and want to prepape most of arts before October (but will post them every day in October).

you can follow the list however you want and draw as much as you can (don't force yourself, please). also quotes doens't mean you have draw the exactly moment from book.

choose your drawing techinque (traditional or digital) and don't forget about black-and-white (cause this is inktober, heh). mark you art with tag #ravenstober 🪶

Aziraphale is a rule follower at his core. Which means when he wants to rebel, or be petty or mean or disobedient, he has to be creative .

There’s no RULE that says you can’t give your flaming sword to humans. There’s no RULE that says angels can’t enjoy food. The vehicle COULD be called a velocipede, if you were mad at your boyfriend and trying to rile him up by being posh.

Crowley fell because he asked questions. Aziraphale stayed because he just did anything that hadn’t been explicitly banned, and dared Heaven to prove he’d done it wrong.

also to answer the multitude of questions in the notes- no, colugos aren't related to bats!

they're related to YOU.

colugos are primatomorphs, a group consisting of all extant primate species and their close relatives! for this reason, they're often referred to as "flying lemurs".

they're mostly nocturnal and spend their nights gliding around from tree to tree, jamming pretty much whatever plant material they fancy into those adorable little faces before scampering off like a tiny Mothman.

also the mom colugos will glide with their babies on board and it's really cute
