whenever people say that they think the people who talk about Monster High generation 1's blatant racism issue are "being overdramatic" it pisses me off tbh because it's not like people are saying "we need to CANCEL generation 1 of Monster High!!!" (that ship has sailed) they're literally just saying "hey wasn't it kind of wild how racist this franchise was while simultaneously preaching diversity and inclusion, I still like it but wow it's a product of it's time"
I love bootleg dolls so much cause is that supposed to be Taylor Swift???
The autistic Barbie I previously talked about has now seen official release, along with news articles talking about this step forward in representation.
Of course, I can't help but be really annoying when it comes to reading these articles about her. For example, take this article from The Guardian.
While the first Barbies date to 1959, until 2019 there were no dolls with disabilities. Now there are blind dolls, as well as Barbies in wheelchairs, with Down syndrome, prosthetic limbs, vitiligo and hearing aids. There is also a Ken doll with a prosthetic leg, another who uses a wheelchair with a ramp, and one with hearing aids.
Those points about the current run of Fashionistas since 2019 is broadly correct, but it is absolutely not correct to say that until 2019 there were no dolls with disabilities: that is ignoring the 3 Becky dolls that were released in the 1990s.
However, okay, okay - she was not consistently on the market so it is a little different to in this post-2019 world where you can walk into any department store or toy store and be confident of finding a couple of different dolls with different disabilities.
Interestingly, to the point that had been raised before about how autism is not always visible, there is a quote in the Guardian article by Jolanta Lasota, chief executive for Ambitious about Autism:
“Theoretically any Barbie can be reimagined as autistic, because autism doesn’t have one look. But representation is powerful and Barbie is an iconic toy, so we hope many autistic children feel pride at seeing some of their experiences reflected in this new doll."
She goes on to say a lot more, but I didn't want to just copy paragraphs of quote into the blog. It's an interesting and good point to raise.
“oh I’m too old for stuffed animals” skill issue. sorry you can’t appreciate little creatures made to hang out with you, I on the other hand am full of joyous whimsy and therefore vastly superior.

Happy Totally Still Pride Month 🩷💜💙🌸
I might be a little late but hey I’m living up to the chaotic bisexual stereotype right??
I decided to group bisexual and sapphic together as I found that there were some characters who didn’t have an explicitly confirmed sexuality (or I missed them when I originally made my lesbian post)
Lego Anglerfish
so fucked up like actually i think they should counter sue
“We don’t like how you play with our toys expressly sold for playing with”
Corporate numpties. They shouldn’t be suing, they should be Hiring
She's not being sued for playing with toys, or for making videos of toys.
She's being sued for MONETIZING it. She's using their toys and the Sylvanian name to make ads - which she's getting paid for. The last video had been a paid ad for Squid Game.
This is why it's a bad idea to monetize your fanfiction!

This is, without exaggeration, probably the best dating advice I have ever seen.
Nemo Bear was here before you, and he’ll be here after you’re gone, my dude.
So, sometimes dolls will have eyes that discolor. (Either due to being poorly stored - in hot environments, for example - or just because they kind of sucked to begin with and time passed.)
Life of Faith was a "Christian alternative" to American Girl in the early 00s. (These spring up from time to time. Most of them only last a few years with a very niche market. I think, at the time, they had because people were flipping out about American Girl partnering with Girls Inc to fund after-school science programs and stuff, because Girls Inc was - according to the conservatives - "A pro-abortion, pro-lesbian organization".) The dolls were based around the Elsie Dinsmore books and it's all . . . big fluffy dresses on a plantation in the antebellum South. With all that that entails.
It was pretty fucking bad.
With that in mind, this is perhaps the funniest toy defect I have ever seen.
