detective joe west had heard the name layla cross quite a few times. he had seen her speeding around central city more than a handful of times. her signature black & gold vehicles out by the tracks.

every time he tried to catch her, she would slip through his fingers. too quick for even the good ol' detective work to find.

west found it ironic the first time he saw the kid in months was next to his own son, barry allen. the two laid comatose in star labs for nine months. both being struck by lightning. barry being hit in his lab at ccpd. while layla was hit in her car across the city, out by the waterfront.

the star labs team ( harrison wells, cisco ramon, caitlin snow, and jason wells ) would care for them until they awoke with incredible speed. barry became the flash, the scarlet speedster with yellow lightning. layla was more reluctant to become a hero.

it took jason — the only person her age — convincing her that she finally changed her mind on the topic. her golden lightening would now be seen running alongside barry's. the flash & nitro protect central city side by side.

there’s a quaint little place at a street corner near central park, a peculiar one (and that’s saying a lot, living in new york) that smells of sage & coffee—which is also its name. it’s a tarot/book/coffee/flower/art fusion, where people can relax, socialize, and/or work on their personal projects. the whole place is run by me, my fiance, & our friends.

we each manage different areas, but we sometimes do switcheroos when someone’s got things going on! it’s where you’d find us working after college.

ethan & i were high school sweethearts, had been together for a decade before he proposed & we got engaged. he’s also in I.T., so he works on that in the evenings. it’s pretty chill.

sage & coffee: the details

on the outside, there’s the florist section, managed by anika & quinn. anika has a lot of fun chatting with strangers, she’s a natural at drawing people in! quinn’s a charmer as well, convincing people is in her nature.

you walk in, and you’re greeted by the café area, run by chad & sam—chad’s addicted to caffeine, and sam’s worked at a café before, so it was fate. there are organically shaped wooden tables with cushioned chairs. whole shelves of roast beans & sleek machines.

adjacent to the lounge area is the library, run by ethan & tara. there’s a shelf we swap out with books from new authors every two weeks, to help promote their work. on another, there are some tarot decks & crystals, a bunch of tidbits alike.

tucked into a corner is a room utilized for my tarot services. a lil’ cozy nook, with thick curtains drawn during readings for privacy, managed by me & mindy (when she isn’t busy with the art section, which i’ll get into).

as for the remaining space at the back, there’s a space for our art club, with a long table and comfy chairs. we usually hold monthly meet-ups for creatives. this area’s managed by mindy, though anika likes pitching in since the florist’s closed in the evenings. ✶

- @laylasverse and jason ; their love just illustrates perfectly the notion of ‘soulmates’, it’s as if their souls resonate with one another’s.

- @withluvvenus and matt ; in every single one of her posts, venus always talks about matt with such gentleness and adoration, it always makes me melt.

- @dracuthea and ethan ; from what i can observe, they always seem to complement each other, their love just seems like the purest thing in this and every world.

- @rrezshifts and tommy ; every one of theo’s posts about their relation never fails to make me giggle and smile so stupidly, i can just tell that love love they have is so sincere and soothing.

- @nottsim and theo ; everything is in the way she writes about him. like i can literally feel her warmth and adoration for him through her words. yearners just go so well together.
