Having fun designing the new dragon. I think I may name them Lark.
Still deciding on their alternate form, but I loved drawing the hair.
Trying to figure out their personality with interactions with existing characters.

People underestimate how much it fucks you up to be subtly excluded as a kid. I would try to talk to my classmates and be met with disinterest or annoyance. The one friend I had, who I clung to and nodded along to his every word, had other friends he liked just as much or more. And his other friends didn’t care for me at all.
I look back at pictures from the time and see how separated I was from them. I remember knowing I was different. I remember posing questions about the world to the girls playing next to me and realizing that they had never asked the same ones to themselves. That the ways we thought couldn’t be more different.
I kept myself amused with my own fanatical stories and musings in my head. I would wander the playground on a circular path, imagining a friend and being sorely disappointed when it didn’t feel as real as I’d hoped.
There was a bubble separating me from everyone else, thin, and nearly invisible, but with a pearly sheen you could catch under the right conditions. I knew it was there, they knew it was there, and it changed me
I'm both concerned and comforted by how many people seem to relate to this
I really think that it’s important to remember @staff are trying to phase out custom blogs! Literally the most fun and interesting part of Tumblr and a very awesome selling point of Tumblr’s entire model.
That’s part of their whole ‘Tumblr’s not easy to use’ bullshit. They’ve been working at it for months now, you can’t even access someone’s custom blog from mobile anymore and like not even on the mobile website.
So yeah that theme and those pages you worked so hard to make unique and interesting? The webcomic hosted on Tumblr in such a way that it basically has it’s own website? The ARCHIVE of your blog that you can pretty much only access from a button on your custom blog? It’ll all go down the gutter if we don’t yell until our voices go hoarse.
This is a BLOGGING website the point of the website is THE BLOGS! I didn’t work hard to maintain my blog and keep the pages on it looking pretty for some hack at RND to decide it needs to go to make way for their ‘definitely not-Twitter’ ideal website. I swear to god the loss of our custom blogs will be the exact last straw for me and I WILL leave.
Yes!
Having a custom theme is one of the funniest parts of this website! You’ve got your own personal space to decorate however you like!!
Mine looks like this:
Everything you need to know is on there! Ask button, archive, search bar, relevant links on the left…
Why would I want to never have this again??
Tumblr is what it is but it’s the only website (among the currently most used social media) that lets you customize your space to this extent. I’ve been there for years, and even if I’m not as active as I used to be, I always come back here, and not even reluctantly!
But if they get rid of the custom themes? Not sure I’ll stay.
Tumblr is indeed a bloggin website. Tumblr is not Twitter. If Twitter is failing and ends up tanking, I don’t want to see this place become the new Twitter. This isn’t why I’m here for.
please let me get that job in algae management

Oh, so twitter is DEAD dead
By intention, no less.

I don’t LIKE this happening but it is amazing HOW it is
Every IT architect is laughing at this buffoon as he is doing a major downgrade to a system that could handle the traffic just fine, just because he laid off all his system architects
This is equivalent to driving a ferrari but downgrading to a goddamn bicycle bcuz you fired those who could maintain the ferrari
Got rid of the maintenance guy AND torched the garage AND got rid of any nearby shops that service ferraris

BOOST.
Absolutely vital information to have if you live where the waters freeze over.
I especially appreciate this guy's commitment to actually showing the steps himself. That cold-shock response is a bitch and willingly subjecting himself to it couldn't have been fun.
I don’t live anywhere near water like this, but I am still memorizing this knowledge because:
* I might use it in a story someday.
* Any knowledge that staves off the dying is good knowledge.
Some kids passed away today in my region from falling in icy water, so thought it was important to boost.

I feel this!!! Also love how you muted the color along the way, I think it makes it that much more impactful!
“Only 1% of white people in the US had slaves” is a great example of using a fact for misinformation. That is true, but extremely manipulative bc it cuts out really important details about the statistic.
1) It includes the more populous Northern states that did not allow slavery.
2) It ignores the fact that family units were much larger and only the family patriarch tended to actually own the slaves for the family, meaning there were significantly more slave-holders than slave-OWNERS. So you need to measure by household.
So, using the exact same data (the 1860 census) you can determine that about 25% of households in the south had slaves. In Mississippi alone 49% of households had slaves. South Carolina is 46%. The 1% figure I’ve believed in the past is propaganda to undersell the role of the general white population in slavery and to undersell just how much everyday southern whites benefitted from slavery.
And I haven’t even mentioned that slave owners often rented out their slaves…
And ignores how many people, even without necessarily owning slaves, fought vehemently against the idea of abolition. Even in states that didn’t allow slavery, there were incidents of violence against abolitionists.

The Body Shapes of the World’s Best Athletes Compared Side By Side
Health and fitness comes in all shapes and sizes. Every single one of these athletes is a certified bad-ass.
I’ve posted this before but it’s worth reblogging!
Just a reminder - if you’re drawing a team superhero book and more than one of your characters has the same build YOU’RE DOING IT ALL WRONG
Always reblog
This is excellent.
It’s also important to note that often (though not always!) physique is associated with one’s strength. Bodybuilders have defined muscles. Weightlifters and wrestlers have bulk. Gymnasts and boxers are small but muscular. Volleyball and basketball players are tall and lean. Runners and bikers are skinny with muscular legs. Hockey players and skiiers have powerful core muscles and thighs. Those who do field sports (discus, shot-putting, etc) have powerful chests and arms.
Obviously, there are exceptions, but athletes often have physiques that match their area. Not everyone is good at the same thing, nor is everyone’s body necessarily built for the same thing. Humans come in a lot of different shapes, and that’s a good thing, because not every shape is ideal for every activity.
I see this is back and as awesome as ever.
This is a great art reference

bring back the habits that made you happy as a child. there’s no reason you should ever have to give up harmless things that bring you joy. you don’t have to age out of having fun. finger paint. write mediocre fanfiction and questionable poetry. put chocolate chips in your waffles. sing in the bath, and while working in the yard, and while washing your hands. hammer tunelessly on a piano. spin in circles until you fall down. climb a tree. just because you’re now in charge of your life doesn’t mean you’re expected to give up on the things that make life feel worth living
If I could impart one thing to a young adult - it would be this. This is literally the secret to being okay your entire life.
