Hey there, I know itâs been a while, but Iâm coming up for air just to show you some of what Iâve been working on for a Fallout 4 mod Iâm designing when the Creation Kit is released. Itâs a mechanical pigman ;)
Hey all, just a quick littler render of a custom unit model Iâm making for this massive Last Airbender mod for Crusader Kings II :)
Just a few âquickâ renders of a few âquickâ models Iâve made in Blender of Roseâs sword and Stevenâs shield.
Stay tuned for more 3D stuff. I kind of alternate between making stuff from Steven Universe, ATLA/LOK and RWBY, so there should at least something Tumblr is interested in here.
The Madness of Rose Quartz
Itâs no secret that recent events have begun to make people paint Rose in a⊠different light. Matt Burnett even hinted at something incredibly dark and foreboding that has been foreshadowed throughout the entire show so far.
Recently in the episode âKeeping It Togetherâ we learned that a host of terrifying force-fusion experiments on innocent gems took place deep below the Kindergarten. After discovering the monstrosities, Garnet nearly has an existential crisis.
But I think Garnet is dead wrong. Not only did Rose Quartz know, but she was the original mastermind behind these Dr. Frankenstein-esque experiments.
First, letâs look at the terminal used to activate the chamber.
The terminal features a diamond on the palm and is left-handed. There is a similar terminal that was featured earlier in Lion 2: The movie.
It features Roseâs emblem, but more importantly, is also left-handed.
In Sworn To The Sword we saw a flashback of Rose Quartz in battle.
Rose Quartz is wielding her sword in her left hand. Rose Quartz is left-handed.
Next, letâs look at the state of the gems used in the experiments.
Forcibly glued together. As far as we know, the gems donât have access to current technology like the goop used to restore the gem warps. That doesnât rule out another factor though: Roseâs tears.
A cracked gem, sealed using the power of Roseâs gem. We know itâs possible for gems to be glued together without the use of Peridotâs robonoids.
What about Peridot? In The Return she said the mission was to âcheck on the clusterâ, implying that someone had been toying with these gems far earlier than Peridot was around.
In Marble Madness when Peridot first reveals the tubes housing the gem fusions, she was reactivating them, implying they had been there far earlier.
The last two points Iâm about to make are the most chilling. In Keeping It Together Garnet said the gems that were broken into pieces were buried, most likely by the Crystal Gems.
Only Rose and the Crystal Gems knew where these shards were. It would be very easy for her to hide a few of them to use for later experiments.
Lastly, every single forced fusion in the Kindergarten took the form of a hand, foot, arm, or leg.
The bubble in Secret Team happened to contained a variety of gem body parts like arms and legs.
It was a Rose Quartz bubble.
This fucked me up
Bye Iâm gone
One thing I want to point out is that Roseâs control panel had her symbol:
While the one below the kindergarten seems to have a yellow diamond
This doesnât make her monstrous or evil, it just means that Rose probably couldnât continue the experiments because they were wrong and inhumane and rebelled as a result, beginning the war.
Tumblr really does seem to confuse complexity for outright monstrosity. Rose probably helmed the experiments because she wanted to help her people but realized that the experiments were monstrous and outright evil, and refused to do them any longer. And as a sort of penance or attempt to redeem herself she led a war against the rest of the Gems.

bryan i think you need to get your eyes checked youâre looking through a prettyâŠ
Youâre getting pretty violent over this. Itâs kind of concerning, really. So what if they based Korraâs response about her acceptance of what happened to her on a war journalistâs words about his own harrowing experiences? People react differently to what happens to them. Korra chose to get something from her trauma rather than forget it ever happened to her.
That was the entire point of her confronting Zaheer.
Donât be so indignant over this.
I could explain how you need to get your ears checked if you think someone saying they had âto suffer to learn compassionâ is somehow equal to them saying they âaccept what happened to them and are moving on with trier life.â These are two different things. I meanâŠyou do realize this right. Nuances are important in storytelling. They make or break a story. You get that right? Korra didnât need to suffer to be a better person. POINT BLANK.  Itâs a bigger problem when you take into account she is a girl (who suffered by the hands of a man). Itâs even worse since she is a WOC (because this cartoon doesnât exist in a vacuum so donât even try thatâbut itâs fictionâ BS). The journal doesnât even make sense in that context so they failed no matter which way you look at it. 100% train wreck no survivors.Â
The entire point of her confronting Zaheer was for her to accept what happened to her (we suppose anyway since they couldnât be bothered enough to talk about Korra in the commentary). What actually happened was that he mocked her, told her to stop blaming him for her problems (problems that he cause btw), and then she had to get his help to get past her spiritual block. Disgusting. Needing your abusers help is disgusting. If she needed spiritual help Jinora (her freaking spiritual guide!) was the obvious choice. Even better she could have done it ON HER OWN. Because finding inner strength is a better message than âOh lets put these two in a room for shock value!1!â. Zuko was allowed to hold onto his anger when comforting his father right? Â GTFO of here with this âwoman need to forgiveâ BS. Leave this universe immediately and take Bryke with you. Settle on a new planet and create a religion praising the mediocre Gods of writing (or whoever the fuck you people get inspiration from IDC).
Ozai (ya know that horrible villain from ATLA who wanted to destroy everything) was the one who said âsuffering will be your teacherâ . Remember that the next time you try to sell me this horseshit excuse. Remember that rule only changed for Korra and then try to figure out why that is.Â
And⊠actually you know what never mind LOL. Who the hell are you anyway?Listen I can do what I like. The people who responded to me understood exactly what I meant when I said âI wanted to fight themâ. Two options 1) Mind your business. 2) Go talk to someone who cares about your opinion.
You sound like you have something shoved up your arse. Itâs funny!
And for somebody who is apparently a graduate and a published author, I find it odd that you talk about how important nuance is when it comes to storytelling, yet all you do is scream and carry on. People learn and grow from all kinds of sources - whether it be a loved one, a person who can empthasize with them, or - yes, this might be hard for you swallow - even the one who caused their suffering in the first place.
And, I.. never mentioned gender. At all. In fact even if Korra was a man instead of a woman and this happened, she would probably still see her suffering and trauma as something to grow as a person with and move on from.
Jinora couldnât have helped her resolve these issues as effectively as confronting her fears head on - personified in Zaheer - did.
Apologies for trying to break the tumblr circljerk, sheesh...

Do you think that Korra's recovery arc was to long for a thirteen episode season? I liked the exploration of her trauma and how she over came it. On the other hand I also felt that the arc came a the expense of other story lines. Also I felt like the last two stages of the arc (Korra with Toph and Korra with Zaheer) were both too climatic and did not follow one another well.
Iâm not sure Iâd say that Korraâs recovery arc came at the expense of other story lines; if anything, I think the show should have spent more time on Korra and ditched some of those other story lines (particularly the Air Kidsâ and Wuâs stories) instead.
With that said, I think the recovery arc dragged for longer than it needed to for a few reasons.
First, I think that cutting one episode worth of Korraâs recovery into two halves, then giving one of the halves to the Air Kids kind of made it feel stretched. Giving the other half of The Calling to Bolinâs Enemy at the Gates stuff instead would help speed the season up.
Second, Enemy at the Gates was an enormous drag. Korra should have been in a better place after taking the poison out but, if anything, she just seemed even more uncertain. Merging a shortened version of her attempt to reason with Kuvira and a shortened version of her fight with Kuvira into one episode instead would at least limit the amount of time we had to spend watching her be like that.
Third, Remembrancesâ use of Korraâs insecurity to create the opportunity for the clip show really didnât help matters.
Making those changes would give us two free episodes to rehabilitate the Team Avatar dynamic and give Korra more time after her recovery to actually act like Korra. But I donât think her actual growth would have needed to be cut down more to make room for other stuff in the process.
Honestly, I think it felt pretty natural for Korra to not be on her A-game as soon as she took out the metal poison and reunited with the Air Kids. It'd feel really jarring if she immediately bounced back to her normal self straight after the tail end of 3 years worth of physical trauma brought on by the poison.
And for Remembrances, Korra's insecurity around her own achievements was also pretty interesting to watch as well, seeing as it did link back somewhat to Toph's lessons about what her enemies stood for. Asami's summary outlines how she achieved a positive version of the values her enemies stood for.
Dear Bryan:
Could you please talk about/draw literally anything else? Iâm really getting sick of being treated like my investment in your show doesnât matter. >_<
so do you remember what bryan said about shedding harmful attitudes and mindsets over the...
Are you sure it does that by itself? Seriously?
I think its more of a case that there is a massive perception among people vehemently against Korrasami that Korra making a apology is somehow out of character. And even worse, her talking to Asami during the party after the aftermath of a massive city-destroying battle where Asami's father died paints Korra as having lost her fire somehow because it's done in a somber and bittersweet fashion. It's actually ridiculous.
It's really bittersweet that you - of all people who analyse the inner workings of LOK, and have done so with a rational and moderated view - still decide to lash out at Bryan because he made a piece of artwork that to you represents a massive misstep.Â
That's just childish, Ikkin.
Didn't it seem out of character for Korra to want to go on a vacation to the spirit world? Especially since she was gone for 3 years and especially since she got done telling Tenzin she has so much more to learn and do? Idk I just feel like it was completely random. And I just honestly don't understand why the writers would write in Korra giving Asami so much attention.. I don't know how the writers don't see that it's terribly inconsistent..
Absolutely. I can think of few things that make less sense for Korra than suddenly abandoning her responsibilities right after she finally accepted what had happened to her and regained her former drive.
As for why they did it, I guess it was between that and admitting that theyâd missed their chance, and they didnât want to pass up the opportunity to make a statement. =/
This isnât even a korrasami issue; I canât see her doing this for a romantic getaway with Mako back when they were a couple. Korra has always wanted to be a great avatar; part of her arc was learning how to be one. Also part of why things got messed up was because of her neccessay 3 year absence.
I agree (and Iâd point out that Mako would never ask her to do so under those circumstances, either).
Back in Books 1 and 2, when Korra was learning that there was more to her life than just being the Avatar, I could imagine that sort of ending being justified. But in Book 4, when the focus is on Korra working through her trauma and getting back into the swing of things as Avatar, it just doesnât make any sense for her to take off again so quickly. =/
I never really got the impression that she was abandoning her responsibilities though. Asami basically just says that she needs a break, and I think it's really clear from the events of the series itself that so much has happened to Korra and she has done so much that now that there is actually time to take a breather, she takes the opportunity to do so before heading back into action once again.
I think a lot of of the misconception that she's abandoning her responsibilities might have to do with her and Asami being the only ones going. If they showed all four of them leaving together, they could have easily had one of them mention their dread at coming back because of how much work they'll have to do to rebuild.
I donât actually dislike Books 3 or 4, outside of a few utterly baffling narrative choices that keep them from being fully satisfying on their own terms, butâŠI feel like LoK became far less ambitious...
Why do you think sites like Reddit Tumblr and TV tropes attract more korrasami shippers than sites like Avatar spirit Facebook and Youbube
Reddit has a heavily male userbase. Given Redditâs general reputation, my guess is that thereâs a lot of âgirl-on-girl is hotâ mentality there, which might or might not be covered up with a veneer of social justice (though I canât say for sure since itâs not somewhere Iâm inclined to spend much time, and not for shipping reasons).
TV Tropes seems to be heavy on the yuri fanboys/girls, too, at least among the users who post about LoK. The people who post there are also a much smaller group, too, and thereâs only a single thread dedicated to the show rather than a full forum, so I imagine that would make dissenters more likely to find somewhere else to go rather than stick around in the face of conflict.
Tumblr, in contrast, is hugely invested in social justice; I think a lot of the post-finale interest was driven by that more than actual interest in the show. And, of course, expressing dissatisfaction with K/A on Tumblr tends to leave one open to attack, so some people might have decided it wasnât worth the cost.
Yeah, the Last Airbender subreddit has kind of been overrun with a lot of Korrasami since the ending. Thereâs always been a small butâŠeh⊠dedicated cadre of crackshippers that did nothing but endorse Korrasami since the show began. There is definitely a âgirl-on-girl is hotâ mentality among the majority of users there, but thereâs also a sizeable portion of people that are kind of fed up with how the korrasami shippers have been pointing to every time Korra or Asami breathed near each other as âromantic momentsâ. The majority of the subreddit supports the ending wholeheartedly and the ship itself, not the incessant claims of the hardcore shippers that every moment between them was romantic. The ending itself was that moment. Nothing else.
So Itâs slowly getting over the Korrasami fan-art phase. Slowly.
No, I disagree with you this time, Varrick is a genius but so is Asami and Hiroshi. The suit was a design of Asami and the platinuim cutters was Hiroshi's idea... The suits was a result of teamwork. One of them could do it or get a similar solution? Perhaps, but not in the time required. Same escaping from the desert. Ok, Korra escapes from the Earth Kingdom and then she is stranded on the dessert. Possible outcome?: Dead as Roku on his island.
Again, youâre making Watsonian arguments against Doylistic claims.
If Asami didnât exist, no one would have questioned Varrick coming up with the suit and the plasma saws.
If Asami didnât exist, no one would have questioned Korra escaping on her own. (And, no, if Korra escaped on her own, she wouldnât have been stranded in the desert, because she wouldnât have waited until they were halfway across the desert to escape. =P The easiest opportunity to escape was when they were trying to load her on the airship, at which point, she wouldnât have been in the middle of the desert.)
There's quite a few assumptions you're making there. Korra wasn't even conscious until she woke up in the airship as they were flying over Ba Sing Se. So, yeah, I think without Asami being there she would have been taken to the Earth Queen.
And I would have questioned Varrick coming up with the suit as well. He made the improved design of the Earth Empire mecha suits based on Hiroshi's design - and by extension, Asami's too, since she would have had ownership of the original blueprints - so while I could see him possibly coming up with the design for the Hummingsuits, it is kind of far fetched to say no-one would have questioned how Varrick came up with the idea.
And saying all of this with the idea that Asami didn't exist in the show would change the show's story quite a bit, so it is kind of a moot point to make.
iâm still pissed about that damn k/rrasami argument in book 4. it wasnât even a fucking argument because korra backed down immediately. korra has shouted down with powerful politicians and world leaders; sheâs butted heads with her father, tenzin, katara, and mako, all of whom are people that korra deeply loves and respects. but people want to sit here and pretend like korraâs sheepish response to a$ami yelling at her wasnât grossly out of character. ok.
So... Korra obviously harboring some guilt about being away for so long and apologizing means she was out of character?Â
What, don't people like it when a character shows a wide range of emotions and behaviors?
She's allowed to be sheepish or apologetic every once in a while.
Because everyone is talking about the Top 5 Korrasami moments video. What are your Top 5 Makorra moments?
Hmm, thatâs a fun question. ^_^
Pretty much the entirety of Beyond the Wilds â with the scene in the spirit wilds chosen as a representative if I had to choose one. It really was a great demonstration of how close they still were and how Mako was willing to support Korra in whatever way she needed him to support her.
Korra airbending to save Mako â because I love the idea that Korra was so concerned for him that she stopped thinking about the fact that the most devastating thing that could have possibly happened had happened to her.
The hug Korra gave Mako before going off to turn herself in to Zaheer â it was really nice to see them finally comfortable around each other again, and they both seemed so happy to have regained that connection.
The break up â not because I wanted them to stay broken up, but because of what it said for them to continue to love each other while recognizing that things couldnât continue working the way they were. It would have been a perfect opportunity for the shipâs status to reflect the charactersâ growth, if only that route had been taken.
Twirly hugs and similarly adorable fluff â yeah, this is kind of cheating, but theyâve got a bunch of moments like this and itâs kind of hard to pick one in particular. I just love how happy Mako made Korra in Books 1 and 2. T_T
Huh, honestly I would say that the entirety of Beyond the Wilds didn't remotely rank highly for me at all in terms of Makorra moments. You could literally swap out Mako for anyone else Korra knew and it would be the same. Hell, swapping him out for Asami would make more sense. It just seemed to me that he was just there to tag along. He didn't have any unique insight or any advice for Korra about confronting Zaheer, and barely spoke at all.
Nick has released a video on their Legend of Korra site called top 5 Korrasami moments Objectivemistress has already commented on the video but I'd like to hear your thoughts on why they did this. I think the video is designed to convince people didn't like the ending to support it but when your top moments include escaping from capture and driving a car to establish a friendship you have a weak paining.
I already commented on that video, but I do have to add that itâs kind of ridiculous to put a scene where the two characters talk about their shared ex in a shipping video. =P
The real issue, of course, is thatâs just about all they had to work with. Itâs like a trailer for a bad comedy â you know they cherry-picked the best moments to convince you to give it a chance, but even those arenât all that great. >_>;
Yeah it's pretty terrible. It's basically made for the people who think that touching, talking, looking, laughing, or even standing next to each other is just filled with romantic intent without question.
The only actual moment that actually had romantic vibes and was intended to give off that vibe was the finale. The creators themselves even said that.
Mockingjay: *president kills innocent people*

You know most of that happens in the second half of Mockingjay, right?
Hello! Let me first of all say, I enjoy your blog a lot. Reading your analyses gets me through the long and lonely nights when I'm working on stuff. Second of all, is there a timeline that highlights all of Korra and Asami's moments? Like lists them by episode and/or a timeline. Forgive me for overlooking it if you've made one already. But if you know of one, I would really appreciate it if you could link to it, as it would help me greatly on a project I'm working on. Thanks in advance!
I havenât seen one, so letâs see what I can do from memory!
Book 1
1x04: Korrasami meet, Korraâs antagonistic and Asami is all âMakoâs told me so much about youâ
1x05: Asami presents new uniforms to the Fire Ferrets and grosses Korra (plus all of us) out with her Masami PDA
1x07: Asami invites Korra to come hang out at her mansion, hits on her the entire episode. Korra learns Hiroshi is an Equalist, Asami initially says thatâs crazy, but ends up attacking her dad in the end to protect Team Avatar
1x08: Asami comes to stay at Air Temple island, Ikki tells her Korra likes Mako (Asami doesnât seem too fussed). Later Korraâs crying about being the worst Avtar, Asami tells her sheâs âamazing,â offers to be the driver for Team Avatar, gets arrested for the cause.
1x10: Asami and Mako fight about his feelings for Korra and sheâs says âI like Korra,â which spawned 1000 fanfics. Asami actually has one little passive-aggressive swipe at Korra this episode, but most of it centers on Asami feeling like sheâs being treated like shit.
1x12: Asami travels down to the South Pole with everyone else when Korra lost her earth/fire/water bending and is shown looking visibly concerned for her well-being/upset with Bolin for his insensitive remarks.
Book 2:
2x04: Asami offers to help free Tonraq when Korra asks Mako for help, goes with them, flies a plane onto the boat holding Tonraq, and helps free everyone
2x05: Korra bumps into Asami, both go to talk to Varrick, Korra saves Asami from getting shot by an arrow, Varrick proposes an idea for both girls, Korra seems happy Future Industries will support the SWT
2x06: When Mako says they need more manpower for their sting, Asami says âWhat about Korra? No better muscle than the Avatar,â and 1000 fics were spawned. She also looks interested at the news that Makorra ended, but that can be interpreted in different ways
2x11, Korra gets back to Republic City, Asami looks really happy and immediately offers to help her in whatever way she can, then has to witness the Makorra kiss, which might upset her on a couple of levels.
2x12: Asami plans and leads the aerial attack to get Team Avatar closer to the spirit portal. Later Korra asks her to take the wounded Tonraq back to the compound
2x14: Jinora wakes up after the big fight and Asami asks her âwhat about Korra and the others?â
Book 3:
3x01: Asami cheers Korra up after press conference. The two exchange a look with the awkward Mako. They have their driving lesson and make fun of him, as well as talk about how nice it is that theyâre friends.Â
3x02: Asami decides to take a vacation from her company and fly a luxury airship around the Earth Kingdom for Korra. When she first shows up with the airship thereâs some major posing. Korra later toys with Mako in an airbending twister for Asamiâs amusement
3x03: Asami and Korra go to collect taxes for the Earth Queen together and end up kicking everyoneâs ass
3x04: Asami and Korra spar to let Korra take out her frustration
3x05: theyâre like, around each other but theyâre just getting introduced to Zaofu. Not really a moment
3x06: Theyâre sitting next to each other at breakfast when Varrick uses his magnets?
3x08: Again, sitting next to each other at breakfast when Varrick shows them his airbender tester. The rest is Team Avatar trying to figure out if Aiwei is guilty and then taking off at the end of the episode.
3x09: The Stakeout. When Mako/Bolin go into town, Asami asks Korra if sheâs okay, the two search for clues about Aiwei. Later Asami escapes from Ming-Hua and Ghazan with Korraâs body on the back of Naga. They get captured and Korra asks if sheâs okay.
3x10: Long Live the Earth Queen. Itâs the airship episode. They flirt/eye-fuck the entire episode and at the end Korra brags about Asami to Tonraq.
3x11: Asami offers to watch over Korraâs body as she meditates
3x12: Korra says sheâs going to turn herself in to Zaheer, Asami says thereâs that Korra âcanât expect us to sit by and let Zaheer take you.â They hug and tell each other to be careful.
3x13: Korra almost dies, Asami looks shattered. Then we get the scene at the end with Asami saying sheâs there for Korra, taking care of her, checking on how Korraâs reacting to everyone, and standing with Korra and her family on the opposite side of the stage as Korraâs friends for Jinoraâs ceremony.
Book 4:
4x01: Asami is grossed out by Wu, and we learn that she spent the past 3 years rebuilding the infrastructure to marry spirits and the physical world (plus Korraâs statue). Asami also expresses excitement abut seeing Korra again
4x02: We learn that Asami offered to go with Korra to the SWT. She also writes to Korra and is the only one to ask how Korraâs doing. Korra later reciprocates by only writing to Asami and conveying her concerns, asking Asami to not tell Bolin and Mako, because she doesnât think theyâd understand.
4x05: Asamiâs upset about her dad so she goes to work out her problems in Avatar Park near the statue of Korra.
4x07: The Reunion. We get overt flirting, a loverâs spat, and then the two of them fighting in perfect synchronization while a bemused Mako is dragged along for the ride.
4x08: Asami brings Korra tea and comforts her
4x10: Korra defends Asamiâs decision not to build a bomb.
4x11: Team Avatar goes to hunt down Kuvira. Not really anything explicitly Korrasami, but theyâre around each other.
4x12: Itâs part 1 of the finale, where Asami is working to get her hummingbird suits up. Korra places all stock in Asamiâs technology, saying itâs their only chance, fights in synchronization with Asami again to bring Mega Maid to the water and freeze it in place for Asami, looks horrified for Asamiâs sake when Hiroshi is killed, then looks angry as fuck at Kuvira at the very end
4x13: final episode. Asami is the one to notice Korra come back from the Spirit World, the first to touch her after Kuviraâs arrest, and it looks like she places her head on Korraâs shoulder for the group hug in a zoomed in screencap. Then they essentially elope together.
So there you have it. I used âlist of episodesâ as a reference, so Iâm not completely off the deep end, at least. Just mostly.
Oh wow. The first to touch her.  Does that really count as a concrete relationship-building moment to you?
I do mean to come off as completely disparaging do, but there wasn't any concrete moments between them in the bulk of the series that can be seen as solely romantic or evidence of a romance between them.Â
The change in their relationship as friends comes right at the end where it was intended.
