Wolfstar: Itâs Always Been You
âPadfoot, I swear, if you donât get your ass back here right this instant, I will throw you in the lake.â
To say Remus was pissed was an understatement. Sirius was in for the greatest ass-whooping ever, thatâs if Remus could ever catch him.
Remus knew Sirius was up to something when Sirius came bounding down to the common room earlier this morning.
Sirius was never happy that early in the morning, unless he had pulled a prank.
âPadfoot, what in Merlinâs name have you done?â
âMy dear Moony, what on earth gives you the idea that iâve done something thatâs different from my normal?â
âWell Padfoot,â Remus started, pulling his fake thinking face. Sirius would never admit it, but he loved when Remus pulled that face. He looked like a puppy. Sirius had to fight hard to prevent his smile.
ââŚyouâre never this happy of a morning Sirius, not unless youâve pulled a prank, or a girl.â
Sirius snapped back into reality at Remusâ voice. He internally cringed; Remus was awfully observant, probably more than for his own good, and he probably saw the heart eyes Sirius had given him just moments beforeâŚand the thousands of moments before that.
âMoony, you look into things too much.â Sirius had turned back on his confidence in a matter of seconds, he couldnât be insecure in front of Remus, it would probably repulse him.
âActually, Padfoot, I think Iâm just observant.â Remus gave his half smile and Sirius positively melted inside.
Sirius gave up about 5 minutes later.
âFine Moony, you win.â Sirius sighed, collapsing against the tree.
âSirius where did you put my chocolate?â Remus demanded.
Sirius decided to test his luck a little more; push the boundaries of Remusâs patience.
âSirius Black you tell me where it is right this instant.â
Sirius winced at Remusâs harsh tone.
âFine, after dinner, I will give it back to you.â
Something snapped in Remus. He jumped at Sirius, tackling him around the ground. Sirius fought back just as hard until he had pinned Remusâs hips to the ground with his knees.
âAfter dinner, Moony.â Siriusâs voice had gone slightly tremulous, and Remus couldnât help but think there was an innuendo hidden in his response.
Watching Remusâs face for just a second longer, Sirius rolled off Remus, and sat back up beside the tree.
Moments of silence passed, tension growing thick. They both knew what each other were thinking about. Even though it had always been unspoken, they both knew their intentions with each other.
James and Lily always had teased Remus and Sirius about having underlying feelings for one another, but they never noticed the squirms or flushes the two would get whenever the other was brought up. They were both in love, it was just that neither one knew it yet.
In the end, it was Remus who spoke first.
âYou mean everything to me, ya know.â his voice was barely an octave above a whisper, but Sirius heard what Remus had said like he had put a megaphone to his ear and shouted through it.
âI know.â Siriusâs voice matched Remusâs, in both pitch and tone.
âItâs always been you, Padfoot. No one else.â
Sirius closed his eyes. They were the words heâs wanted to hear Remus say to him for the longest time, ever since he saw Remus on the train during first year.
âItâs always been you Moony. No one ever held a candle to you. Ever.â
Remus turned to face Sirius and placed his hand on Siriusâs cheek.
Somewhere, through all the nerves and giggles, they met in the middle, lips touching in a kiss. It was hot and intense, but they could feel all the love behind it. It was perfect.
Somewhere, behind a bush, they briefly noted James shouting and Lily cheering, but they didnât care. It was Remus and Sirius, Moony and Padfoot, two halves of one whole.
The werewolf and the dog, together, at last.
