Everyone here knows how I'm a big RoLo fan, right? I mean even my profile pic says it all... I've been here behind the scenes, writing, hoping, dreaming, believing for over 10 years. I'm a little late in the game compared to @clawsandthunder but I like to think I'm just as passionate and indignant in all the things that our community goes haywire about. And shout out to everyone who keeps the flames alive, whether just in your heart or in real time, in comics, books, movies, even your own personal works that have nothing to do with RoLo except for the inspiration you get from them. (I'll be doing some of that soon myself.)
I do have one issue though. I haven't seen much of this personally, but I've heard that it's going around. Guys... we can't hate on another Ororo ship, no matter how hateful they might be. Fighting fire with fire only makes a bigger problem. The true RoLo fans, like me, love Ororo and Logan being together for many reasons. One of those reasons is this: she feels safe with Logan, she feels heard, she feels seen, and she doesn't need to hide who she really is. Who am I to judge if she finds that with another man in a different storyline? If she's happy and fulfilled then I'm happy for her, and you know who else is happy for her too? Logan. He'd want her to be in a place where she's loved, safe, treasured, etc.
It's not like us to hate on something because it's not what we want. I know we've been waiting for them to make it official for like 40 years now, but here's a sad part. We know it's not going to happen in the mainstream comics (not yet anyway).
Why? Because it would send shockwaves through the mediums and reality. I won't get into more details about that here, but they'd be risking a whole lot if they were to place them together indefinitely. We all know it'd be better for them, but Marvel's several degrees of dumb. And I'm not just talking about them when I say that.
In our community I've seen something unique and beautiful. We see the depth, the beauty, the wonder where others don't see it. We see the truth where others don't yet. That's part of our gift to this world. Our reputation as people who point out the beauty needs to shine through, no matter how negative this world gets. I know it's tempting to get sucked into the undercurrent of arguments and discourse, but we're better than that. The world needs us. We are heroes, and we need to keep spreading the goodness.
Some good things about RoLo are these:
They can talk about anything, they argue to resolve and reunite. They understand each other's strengths and weaknesses, they know when to aid the other and when to wait. They never avoid hardship, whether physical or otherwise but face it back to back and hand in hand. Jealousy or bitterness isn't an issue between them. They always find a way to lift each other up, even when they're in there depths of hell metaphorically or even literally.
They're the picture of a very healthy relationship, which is one reason Marvel can't show them canonically. But as I said, I won't get into that here.
We need to stay positive and not engage with hatred and bigotry. It will die out on its own and we will be here strong and steady as ever afterwards.
