Aw dang, have I got a story for you! So I have a dog, sweet sweet baby, and she is the most gentle dog I have ever met. We got her from a shelter years ago. Anyways, she was spayed, so she never got to be a mom. She carries stuffed animal around with her as if they were babies. One day we let her outside to roam and after about 30 minutes she came back and asked to come in. We opened the door and she set down a baby bunny. I thought It was dead, but the i saw it start to breath. It was only a few inches long and if hadnt opened its eyes yet. I was a little shocked. Well, while I was trying to figure out what to do with it, i stuck her outside. I googled around to see where I could bring it, called my mom, and suddenly heard another scratch on the door. My dog walks in and delivers a second perfect little baby bunny to me. I didn’t know what to do with the first one and now I have two. Well my mom gets home and tells me she called the wildlife rehabilitation place and they said that if we can find the bunny nest, we would be fine to put the bunnies back and they would be ok, but we didn’t know where the nest was. So I walked outside with my dog. She knew what I was looking for, but she felt like I was mad. It took us 20 more minutes to find the nest. We gathered up the bunnies and put them back in there home, and covered it back up with the leaves and bunny fur that was originally there. I checked on it the next day to make sure the babies mom came back, and sure enough, she did.
I didn’t realize it then, but I think my dog was worried about the little babies. She thought they were abandoned, so she carefully picked them up to bring to us so that we could care for them, which is the sweetest thing.
I would also like to inform you that she did the same thing the year before.
•Photo of my dog and photo of bunnies as proof.
•I’m sorry for any grannar issues. I am on phone.
•This even occurred maybe 4 or 5 years ago. I’m not sure.
•I know I’m holding the babies in all the photos. The vast majority of the time we kept them in a dark box so that they could relax. Photos were taken upon delivery of the babies, and when we were bringing them home.
