Assorted song ideas (Songdeas)
ACT I
Overture / Waking up Alone
An orchestral number which incorporates motifs of other songs,
There’s Something in the Sky I
upbeat number Grace with explaining to his classroom about the many great discoveries of humanity motivated by asking what’s in the sky, interrupted by a child asking about the Petrova line—song becomes far more somber as Grace explains the crisis, noting that ‘there’s something in the sky.’
[title pending]
Rather long exposition song, showing grace being recruited and working on the project Hail Mary and getting to know Stratt and the other scientists
Heer Halewijn / Eva’s Song
The karaoke scene, Eva sings a Dutch folk song that’s essentially about the Bluebeard Myth (we’re meant to see she regards herself as the villain of the song)
Adrian
Song about. The planet Adrian, I guess?
Me Believing in You
Act I finale, Stratt’s betrayal and the audience finally learns that Grace was forced on the mission. In present time, Grace sings to Rocky, telling him that he needs to wake up so they can save earth and Erid together.
ACT II
There’s Something in the Sky II
Grace’s motif again, when he realizes Rocky will die without his help and that he must turn back.
Heer Halewijn (Reprise)
After watching Grace’s messages, Eva sings a few bars to herself, smiling (the part of the song where the heroine tricks the wicked prince) Scene transitions to Erid.
There’s Something in the Sky III (Finale)
Essentially a reprise of the first song but with Eridian students. a nice ensemble moment, children from earlier come back on stage with their own eridian puppets.
Another one of merymeou's great ideas! Once again, please go over to her page and give her some love.
Distorted Mirror - Science
I am in science hell trying to figure out some fun worldbuilding for the AT-5 blood. This fucking fanfic better be one of the smoothest writing processes ever, cause science hurts my brain.
Anygays, I'm making an actual notebook as a writing prop for myself. It's gonna be full of notes and shit about Grace's journey to understanding the blood. I'll start posting pics of that here alongside the chapter releases on ao3.
On that note, I'll probably post the prologue chapter this weekend. Yay!
I feel the need to clarify that the notebook is a red, college ruled, composition notebook. Ryland Grace is an American middle school teacher. He probably had, like, fifty in his classroom and about ten extras at home. (I'm a reliable source 'cause my parents were teachers my entire childhood. I know the secrets of education.)

reblog if you love ao3 exactly how it is and you don’t want it to “update” or change in any way♡
so yesss!!!! my hypothetical anthrpology #myhypotheticalanthropology
I kinda wanted to approach Eden and the COI not as Evil Cult Society and Evil Industrial Society (since personally i just find that less interesting) but more as two diverging human cultures that adapted to intense circumstances in different ways. that isn't to say that there aren't harmful aspects to them, much in the way that there are harmful aspects to real human societies.
So anyway back 2 my markiplier space movie conlang
Everyone, please appreciate everything merymeou is doing. This is all so cool! Send her some love.

Eden Religion - Distorted Mirror
For my BloodyMary fic, one of the things I really want to do is format the religion of Eden. I'm at the very basic and barren level of world-building right now, but I'm going somewhere with all of this, trust.
---
I imagine everything is very plant, animal, and light oriented. That is the main thing I focused on when I started this.
The Gardener/Gardenkeeper:
The God of Eden, who has no particular gender. They are believed to have created the universe, though it is still debated whether or not they caused the Quiet Rapture. It is pretty much up to the individual to decide their beliefs about the Quiet Rapture.
The Caretakers/Arborists:
They are sometimes, but rarely, referred to as angels (pronounced the Russian way, as ahn-gyels). They are the servants of the Gardener, who protect the Grove. They are believed to be spirits made of starlight, which take the form of Earth animals unless they are presenting themselves to living mortals, in which case they appear as humans. It is believed that they can see the souls of living beings by meeting their eye.
The Grove + Souls:
The Grove is the afterlife, which is divided into many smaller parts, each for souls with a different level of "goodness." The levels of morality are split into: good and did good, good but did bad, neutral and did good, neutral and did bad, bad but did good, and finally bad and did bad. Doing bad is defined as having a net negative impact on society. Doing good is defined as having a net positive impact on society. Eden doesn't believe that people can have a perfectly neutral impact on the world and people around them.
Eden believes that the internal being of a human is as empty as the universe they live in. Much like the universe they live in, at the beginning of their life, their soul has stardust. The worse a person is, the more stardust they lose throughout their life, which cannot be regained. This can be through actions and reactions or thoughts and feelings. (A person could be an ungrateful altruist, always helping others, but their ungratefulness would make them lose stardust.) When someone dies, the stardust in their soul is weighed and their impact is judged, determining their place in the Grove.
The dark souls (ones with less stardust) are generally used as fertilizer for the plants in the Grove. It is believed that sometimes a dark soul can do enough good to earn their place in the Forest, but it has to be a lot.
The Nursery is the place where souls are created and sent to the living plane. It is also the first point at which dead souls are welcomed back into Grove and are subsequently judged for the lives they led.
The Forest is where dim souls (they have a medium amount of stardust left) who had a bad impact reside. On rare occasions, dark souls might also reside here. The Forest has almost no light break through the leaf canopy and there are few animals. Eden believes the souls of animals get to freely wander the Grove, but prefer to remain nearer to the heart. (The Forest is most comparable to Purgatory.)
The Wood is where dim souls that had a positive impact remain. There is far more light than in the Forest and a few more animals. It is a peaceful enough existence, especially since those within are blessed to feel the warmth of starlight. (The Wood is most comparable to the component of the Greek Underworld known as Asphodel.)
The Orchard is where bright souls (souls which maintain most of their stardust) who had an overall negative impact get to exist. This part of the Grove is not only bright and usually has many diverse animal species running about, but it is also the first point at which edible plants grow. It is, in many ways, paradise. (The Orchard is comparable to Heaven.)
The Garden is the heart of the Grove. It is where bright souls with a positive impact reside. Most often, the souls here died as children. It is believed that the Gardener themself watches over the souls in the Garden. This is the brightest, warmest, most floral and faunal diverse point in the Grove. (The Garden is like Heaven, but better, I guess.)
Tenets (so far):
Do not waste. Waste is the worst offense against the Gardener.
Do not hoard. To hoard more than one needs is to waste.
---
I still need to add stuff, of course, but I'm happy where this is at so far.
Anygays, have a nice day or night, y'all.
On the Other Side of a Distorted Mirror
Heyo! I've been pulled into a Project Hail Mary obsession, and then my friend pointed me in the direction of BloodyMary. Now, I have never seen Iron Lung, and I very well may never see it (I am NOT a horror person), but I have fallen head over heels in love with this ship. So, I'm actively plotting out and writing a fic based around this ship. I'll post the first chapter/prologue to my BloodyMary fic on ao3 soon-ish.
For now, this is a small sneak peek from the first couple of paragraphs:
---
When Grace caught news of an anomaly near Erid, his interest was thoroughly piqued. When he was brought up to the top of the space elevator in order to be shown pictures of the anomaly captured by Erid’s newest telescope, he was genuinely excited. When he caught sight of the pictures and finally figured out what he was looking at, Grace nearly collapsed from the shock.
Holy moly, wormholes weren’t just theoretical!
---
It's nothing amazing, considering all the character and plot is missing from this bit, but it does show the premiss around how Simon and Ryland are going to meet.
Anygays, the full prologue will be out semi-soon (probably). Stay kind, folks!
reblog if you support unabashedly smutty fanfic
and the beautiful authors who give it to us. you are a treasure.

Random update
I broke my finger semi-recently and have been recovering for a while now. I'm still not in tip-top shape — and I may never be again — but such is life.
For those of you who read my fics, I am back in my Harry Potter phase, though I believe I might be moving out of it again soon-ish. As a result, the only fic I've updated recently is a Harry Potter fic. I don't know how soon my fixation will switch or what it will switch to, but that's where my head is at right now.
The political state of the world is pretty scary right now, but good people will always power through. Don't give up hope, that's what tyrants and fascist regimes want. Keep fighting for what is right, in any way you can.
Happy holidays to all who celebrate!
Rereading Percy Jackson after years of not reading the books is so weird cause I'm sitting here and realizing that I kind of hate Annabeth in TLT and TSoM. If I had been on that quest with her, I think I would have gotten violent with her on more than one occasion. Percy is a better man than I could ever be, I swear.
I've been making notes in the margins and underlining things that I think are important. My notes in book 1 are a lot of: "Bitch!" directed at Annabeth, pointing out when I think Poseidon is subtly helping Percy, pointing out specific myths or figures, and pointing out when Percy is actually really smart.
My notes for book 2 so far: "Baby!" directed at Tyson nearly every time he does or says something, "Bitch!" directed at Annabeth every time she is lowkey hating on Tyson just for being different (yes, I know it's because of trauma, but that doesn't excuse her behavior), pointing out when Percy is smart, pointing out things I find funny, cheering on Percy when he defends Tyson and calls out Annabeth's prejudice, and making references to The Odyssey/Epic: The Musical.
I'm like only on chapter ten of TSoM so far. This is utter chaos. Also, I am aware I am being very harsh with my expectations toward Annabeth, but she's a prideful little asshole who reminds me of my younger self in all the wrong ways.
Anygays, rereading is odd cause I remember some things and completely forgot other things.
Sea of Monsters: Chapter 19, page 268. Annabeth is now the GOAT, Percy is the best person in the world, and Tyson is still Baby.

Do NOT interact with anyone using the MAP flags!!!
Off topic but the owner of this blog will literally smash any pedophile’s face in. :)
good post but please do not call them “MAPS” EVER. Call them pedophile ALWAYS. These are not “MAP flags”. These are Pedophile Flags plain and simple. Do not normalize the other. It’s what they want.
Important note: I’ve seen this flag going around on Reddit
I want to clarify that if you see this, it is still an ace flag, just with 1 more gradient.
The pedofile flag has 7 different colors and is dulled, this only has 5 stripes and the full bright colors
thanks for the update!
Reblogging to keep minors away from pedos
I can't stress this enough, be SO fucking careful about who you talk to on here
Hey people, reblog this, and block anyone who uses these flags
Please reblog this
Reblogging because this whole thing is important.
Weird (Slightly Rhetorical) Question: Is the pedophile ace flag for pedos who are only romantically attracted to kids? Cause that's fucked up. It's all fucked up, really, but that specifically irks me. I suppose it's because I always thought of pedophilia as an inherently sexual thing, and seeing signs it isn't is... eugh. I really hate people sometimes.
The Crowning Trials of the Dead
I've been away a while, but I just had an idea. This is angsty and has warnings in the tags. The loyalty the Fenton siblings have for each other makes me so happy. (This is supposed to be for an AU where stuff happened, so now Jazz and Danny live alone together.)
Imagine there are three things a ghost must do to be King/Queen/Ruler of the Infinite Realms. It isn't just "Beat your predecessor and you're good to go!" Nonononononono! That would be too simple! That is only the first of the Crowning Trials. There are two more!
The Third Crowning Trial is the Crowning itself. You have to state your honest intentions and petition your worthiness in front of the Ancients before the crown is placed on your head. If you are not worthy, the crown burns you to nothingness. If you are, it changes to reflect your core and obsession. (I headcanon that it's only called "The Crown of Fire" because it belonged to Pariah by technicality for a very long time. It would change once Danny earns it. It's proper name is The Crown of the Dead.)
The only real issue Danny would have would be the Second Crowning Trial. This is where the heavy angst comes in. The Second Crowning Trial is to wear the Ring of Rage, which imbues the wearer with nearly uncontrollable anger, and not lash out within the period between an equinox and the following solstice or between a solstice and the following equinox.
This would be taxing and almost impossible, and to add some stakes to the plot, let's say the Ancients tell Danny that if he doesn't do it and pass, the crown automatically falls back to the previous king, Pariah Dark.
Danny does the trial and struggles hard. By the time the trial is over, Danny has succeeded, but at a cost. He takes off the ring and feels emotions that had previously been snuffed out by anger. He doesn't know what to do, so he shuts them out, too.
Jazz is appalled by the change in her brother and tries every bit of psychological advice she can. Nothing works. This drives her to do something impossibly reckless, she attempts self-d!e in front of her brother.
This finally snaps him out of it and forces Danny to face his fear and desperation as he rushes to stop Jazz's bleeding. He cries and feels anger bubble up. He lashes out and yells at Jazz in the heat of the moment. Danny recoils, realizing he let his anger get the better of him, but... Jazz smiles. She's crying, too, but not just from pain. She's... relieved.
Once Jazz isn't actively dying, she and Danny have a serious conversation. They talk for a long time, and Jazz reassures Danny over and over again that it is okay to feel emotions and the Third Crowning Trial was only supposed to teach him to control them better. He was not supposed to bury them and become an unfeeling thing.
When Clockwork shows up out of the blue to confirm this observation, Jazz socks him and yells at him for breaking her brother. This gets a tired chuckle from Danny. From there, Jazz works to help her brother readjust to his emotions and teaches him ways to acknowledge them without hurting others. It takes a long time for Danny to fully recover. It all ended up okay, but it certainly wasn't a fun ride.
But yeah, that was my angsty idea. I feel like the actual Crowning can only take place on either the birthday or deathday of the person trying to become King/Queen/Ruler of the Infinite Realms.
Anygays, I'm going to crawl back into my hole and hibernate for a while again. Ciao!
