Do you know what this is? This is The Heart from Auschwitz.
An act of defiance. A statement of hope. A crime punishable by death.
On December 12, 1944, locked inside Auschwitz, Polish teenager Fania turned twenty. After spending a year in a concentration camp, Fania didn’t expect her birthday to even be remembered - but her best friend, Zlatka, risked everything to make her a birthday present, a paper heart.
Simply making the heart - or carrying it - could get either of them killed.
The heart was signed by many of their friends, bearing notes in Polish, German, French, and Hebrew that announced "When you get old, put your glasses on your nose, take this album in your hand and read my signature again,“ and “Freedom! Freedom! Freedom!” It was an act of great sacrifice and love for a friend.
Less than 40 days later, they began the Death March from Auschwitz to Ravensbruck, and from Ravensbruck to freedom. Fania carried the heart under her arm the whole time. And survived.
Fania donated the heart to the Montreal Holocaust Memorial Center in 1988, where it is a featured piece of their exhibit. You can read more about the story of Fania and Zlatka Meg Wiviott’s Paper Hearts, coming September 2015.
God. Even in great darkness there is such love.
the 75th aniversary of the liberation of auschwitz is in a couple of days (jan 27 2020) so I feel this is a good thing to have on your dash. Remember that every single victim and survivor of the holocaust was a person with so much love in their heart and so many storiees and interpersonal relationships like this.
Amsterdam is turning rainbow for a visit of the Russian president Putin. The council of the city of Amsterdam has decided to hang out the gay pride flag on all council owned buildings and offices, in protest to Russia’s new anti-gay law.

Look how talented he is!!
His instagram is waspa_art
I love that he’s that good at 11. I can’t even imagine how his style will look in the future with even more years of practice on him
i always think its so wacky that picasso was drawing near lifelike portraits at age 15 and think “wow, thats so crazy. thats a once in a century kind of talent huh” and i never really thought i’d see that kind of kid in my lifetime. but this kid is past where picasso was and hes 4 years ahead of the curve no less.
im really interested to see where this kid goes. this is genuinely incredible. i was thinking about saying “this is so cool” or “this kid is a genius” or something but i feel like thatd be doing him a disservice. this kid is history in the making.
Everyone needs to blow this up

Of course everyone knows of the seven deadly sins, and the seven heavenly virtues. But a less known group resides on earth as humans. Apathy, distraction, procrastination, undecidedness, irritation, anxiety, and depression are the seven unnecessary inconveniences.
“[Tony] has this sort of existential connection to Thanos.” - Joe Russo
“You realize this interesting parallel between Thanos and Tony. They’re both aware of something from an early point and constantly having to deal with being smarter. Thanos is a futurist as much as Tony Stark.” - Christopher Markus
Tony and Thanos appear to be two heads to the same coin. Between them, they share a lot of remarkable similarities. But what separates them is heart. Tony has compassion, while Thanos does not.
This is emphasized in Avengers: Infinity War. Thanos hurls his adopted daughter, Gamora, off a cliff; while Tony promises his son-figure, Peter, he will catch him when he falls.
Tony wants to save the universe by safeguarding as many lives as he can, while Thanos believes saving the universe necessitates massive loss of life. They are equal, yet opposite.
Added to the original set Tony & Thanos sharing cuts on the same spot on their right cheeks; and, of course, Tony & Thanos holding their gauntlets.
Oh… and here’s a bonus:
Just some impressions from the making of Fury Road to remind you that they used as less CGI as possible. Thank you George ♥
George Miller the realest person you’re ever gonna meet.
are you fucking kidding me that was two straight hours of ACTUAL EXPLOSIONS
The best part is that, from my understanding, there were quite a few scenes where George Miller said “No this is too dangerous we’ll do this in post” and the rest of the crew was like “NO LETS DO IT NOW WE CAN DO IT”
are you telling me this was fucking cirque du soleil in the desert with fucking explosions
Tom Hardy described it as slipknot meets cirque du soleil
Mad Max actually had a ton of cgi, just not what you would expect! almost all of the landscape was cgi and most of the explosions were cgi enhanced. George Miller was incredibly open to letting CGI artists do their work on the movie but kept their influence to the areas that cgi is currently really good at. Good cgi is cgi you dont notice, and landscape is an area cgi has DOWN

The entitlement and meaness of that “customer” are appalling
Holy shit. What an asshole.
I love the “tell you what, I’ll do it for $800” comeback.
this is one of the cutest most fucking delightful things i’ve ever seen.
