my problem is if i enjoy something enough i will be nitpicking. i Will have things to say about where and how it failed. out of nothing but love straight from my heart. unfortunately this often makes me indistinguishable from a hater who has never experienced joy or kindness. such is the amateur critic's burden.

hiii just a reminder that my lesbian Gothic horror novel, Draculas, is out in paperbook format!! a squirming, parasite-filled, class-conscious 300 page book that you can now enjoy 🪱

here's a little bit about it:

At the center of the story is Helena, an awkward parasitology student whose life is abruptly derailed after a chance encounter with vampirism leaves her caught in a grotesque conspiracy involving ancient bloodlines, exploitative landlords, strange cave systems, and something buried deep within the limestone of the Earth itself.

As Helena investigates the biology behind vampirism, she discovers that vampires in this world are not supernatural aristocrats in velvet capes, but victims of an alien ecological process tied to mysterious entities known as “Flat Sallies” or “hellmouths”—living keyholes to another world. Vampirism is not a curse bestowed by dark magic, but a horrific transformation tied to blood, decay, parasitism, and the remnants of an ancient extraterrestrial ecosystem embedded within the Earth and moon.

8 AM wake up, morning routine, walk the dog

1:30 PM arrive late, blame traffic, shrimp salad with creamy gochujang dressing for lunch

2 PM spend way too much time troubleshooting auth issue. Root cause is I am inputting http instead of https

3 PM 1:1s with the team

4 PM sign off on seating plan for new office in FiDi

6 PM Grubhub expensive sushi for 25% off, on company dime. Try to savor the blue crab rolls but still feeling caffeinated and office is buzzing in advance of Q2 tax deadline (alts)

7 PM run D&D (technically Lasers and Feelings) for coworkers

9:30 PM boss congratulates me on my character voices, go home.

10:20 text recruiter availability for a follow-up while waiting at PABT

10:45 arrive home, herded to couch by dog, feel the crash coming on

11 PM overshare on tumblr

12:01 AM hit by the Donny Darko time loop airplane engine but it only takes me back 2 minutes to yesterday so I sleep through it
