Horrible, immature white men are afraid of consequences for their actions.
“The American right built the current corrupt Supreme Court because they were confident that the center-left had no appetite or ability to fight back or require accountability and reform in response. They were mostly right. Supreme Court reform is important because you can’t have democratic self-government in this country with this Court’s corruption. That’s the main reason to do it. It also teaches a lesson. Don’t spend too much time creating a big corrupt shiny object. Because the Constitution creates the tools to break it. And we’ll break it. Say goodbye to your constitutional golden calf. Sucks to be you. It’s critical for Democrats to demonstrate that they’re just as able to use political power as Republicans, ready to be just as audacious, not just because it’s critical that they do so but because it’s the only real path back toward some kind of constitutional equilibrium.”

I don't put much stock in what the actor men say because actors rarely watch their own shows, especially not a 15 season one. He's only aware of his own scenes for the most part. I put more stock in the writers takes which we know put in romantic parallels on purpose.
Also, you can't hurt me with seeing it as non-romantic because I'm aromantic and a platonic bond/soulmate still has a whole lot of weight.
But can we all agree comparing a queer ship to incest is an absolutely horrible opinion to share?? Can someone sit them down and explain that at the very least? I assure you the queer fans are not the ones shipping brothers.
He didn't compare "a queer ship to incest."
He compared two m/m ships, one of which is an incest ship.
Like it or not, Destiel is just a ship just like Wincest is just a ship. They are both fictional ships based off of the relationships presented in the actual show. Neither of them was any more canon than the other. Because if we're talking about the writers putting in romantic parallels then we are also, very much talking about Wincest, too. The show is FILLED with Sam and Dean being compared to romantic couples, and being mistaken as a gay couple. It happens a few times a season, including during the first three seasons before Cas was introduced.
If you like imagining that Cas and Dean were actually in love love, that's fine, but that was no more a part of the show than Sam and Dean being in love love.
So what Jensen said was that Destiel is just a ship, just like Wincest is just a ship. And then he said that he is fine with fans shipping the characters and thinks it's great that we find inspiration in the show to create so many stories based off it.
But y'all need to get down off your high horse, your ship is no better or more morally pure than any other. The puritanical conflation of fiction somehow equaling reality has gotten beyond ridiculous at this point.
Nah, OP, we can’t agree. Because the point Jensen was making sailed right over your head. I get it; you don’t like Wincest. This is fair. But that’s not what Jensen was saying, writ large. He was reiterating that a ship is a fanfiction convention and as such, doesn’t automatically relate to the canon. Because in fandom, we write/draw what we please. I personally wish we’d leave the cast/crew’s say-so out of fandom’s doings. And clearly, so does Jensen. But sometimes, you get what you ask for, but not in the way you want it…
the AUDACITY to say that Jensen was only aware of his own scenes. wtaf. this man loves supernatural so much that he created a spinoff because he didn't want to leave the supernatural universe. he may not remember episode numbers/names or what happened in them, but they film things out of order, and change the names of episodes all the time, so that is not that unusual. also, hello? they filmed FIFTEEN seasons of the show! he's not going to remember every single detail of every single episode. that does not change the fact that he knows how he played Dean for FIFTEEN seasons and that he played him straight and NOT in love with castiel.

I think we recently had a post about the exact nature of Treason and the penalty.
Can’t reblog the post going round containing these two screenshots:
So I’ll put my addition here:
This also applies to women who complain about feminism requiring them to work, rather than being ‘ladies of leisure’. Women equivalent to them in the past always worked - who do they think were the maids, housekeepers, cooks, nannies, wet nurses, governesses, washerwomen, spinners, weavers, seamstresses, nurses, midwives, etc - and today’s equivalent of the past’s ladies of leisure can afford to be ladies of leisure now. Feminism fought for women’s work to be acknowledged, valued, and fairly paid, and that fight is still ongoing.
During Purcon 10 5/23 , in Jensen and Jared’s m&g, they described their living conditions when in Vancouver. Jared’s side was undecorated while Jensen’s was like an architecture digest 😭😭.
I guess the fanfics were right 🤭
Reminds me of early interviews of Jensen DOOL era when asked what he spent his money on once he got steady pay…and he said Pottery Barn. I remember chuckling when he said it.
Then years later when his homes in LA (single supernatural days) were photographed, the decor was straight from a PB catalog. He wasn’t kidding that he liked to shop there.
Between his decor, his love for clothes and accessories…the man does like to shop and look good and put together.
JENSEN ACKLES AS SOLDIER BOY IN VOUGHT RISING-FIRST LOOK (2027)
The way he said it with such normality and in a defensive way lmao
He's my favorite wincestie ever
The way he's looking at Misha in the beginning. Like "Really?!?!"
He answered no very quickly when asked outright if he thought the “relationship” between Cas and Dean was romantic. Stated as plainly as possible that he did not play it that way, either.
He was very diplomatic in that response, too. It was carefully worded.
(BUT I do like how he brought Wincest into the conversation to argue that there are many fandom ships besides Destiel. 😁
It wasn’t an outright endorsement, of course, he was being careful. But it’s very interesting that the ship he mentions as a contrast, and implies is as valid as any other is Wincest.
I would like to think that Jensen is a Wincestie, too, but I think he’s more of a deeply platonic Wincestie. One of the emotionally, psychotically, erotically enmeshed Wincestie advocates. And that’s incredible.)
The bravery of Pope Leo is an example for the world in how to combat late stage capitalism.
"The sweeping manifesto is about safeguarding humanity in an era of increasing reliance on artificial intelligence. Leo raised the trans-Atlantic slave trade in relation to what he called the new forms of slavery and colonialism that the digital revolution is fueling, such as the unregulated labor practices in procuring rare minerals needed for AI chips."
You are a leach. Main St America was destroyed by Amazon. Competitors were systematically crushed. You bought the Washington Post and destroyed it for better billionaire PR.
Ooooooh smtimes I gotta love the twitter description of the trending news 🤌🏼🤌🏼
I'd love to know if you've seen Project Hail Mary and what you thought of this movie. It was an incredible success, far exceeding everyone's expectations, I think, and I'm really happy about that because I loved it so much. Maybe all it really takes to bring people back to theaters is a good movie.
Yes! Great movie! One of the many things I like about PHM is it does "subverting expectations" correctly, like a magician whipping away the table cloth, leaving all the table's contents perfectly balanced. But hack writers nowadays just yank the rug out from under you. The twist in the third act on why Grace ended up on the mission in the first place was both surprising, and also made perfect sense because the reveal held up in retrospect. Until then, Grace's character was a little lacking, but then the reveal retroactively added depth to both Grace and the plot. Grace's journey needed to be told this way because it made his decision to save Rocky much more meaningful, Grace found somebody to be brave for. Both Rocky and Grace save each other by choosing to risk it all for eachother. Both are heros you can't help but root for.
The movie has a lot of sincere heart. Like when Grace tells Rocky that he's okay dying for the mission due to not having enough fuel to go home, he doesn't immediately follow up with a sarcastic or dismissive quip, but rather by a genuine expression of relief and thankfulness when Rocky offers fuel. It's completely relatable in the moment, and is reinforced when we learn later how he ended up on the ship in the final flashback scene. Then all of that is reinforced when Grace makes the decision to sacrifice himself by not returning home in order to save Rocky, a decision of his own volition. The emotion of the film is allowed to stand on its own and trusted the audience to understand what was happening without having to describe every little thing.
Eva Stratt is a great character who has to sacrifice her humanity in order to save humanity. It's difficult not to notice that her name is the play on Eve, the mother of humanity and rational thought. The "Hail Mary full of Grace" thing is already interesting from a Catholic theological perspective, but the Eve/Mary dichotomy adds to it. Eva mentions she believes in God and there's an idea of innocence lost in her. In the Bible, God promises Eve that the seed of a woman (Mary) will crush the head of the serpent. In the movie, Eva places her trust in "Project Hail Mary." In Revelations, Mary protects the stars from the dragon/devil. In PHM, the stars are dying and Eva's actions to put Grace on the Mary ship led to not just saving one star, but two, and likely the rest of the stars in the galaxy.
Lastly, just imagine the Eridians' pov. The arrival of Grace who saved their world gave the Eridians probably the most inspirational gift you could ever ask for. In one moment, an entire species found out they were in fact not alone in the universe. On top of that, they learned aliens were a friendly and curious species, just like them. And that one of them was willing to sacrifice himself for them. Grace turned the cold and unforgiving cosmic dark into a sea of potential, a sea of hope.
Hey @nancylou444 would you post the "Cas is like a talking dog" gif? LOL
Of course, my darling. ♥️
LOL thanks so much!
