Pronouns literally aren't new, you've literally used them your whole life.
Love for someone to finally take me up on my offer and point out an exact post of where I have been transmisogynistic.
Also asking for a friend, pointing out where I've deliberately sat on my hands and not helped any trans person in need to the best of my ability both online and in my local community, would be beneficial too.
Or am I just a bad person for talking about my own experience? I'm not even using the fucking word I'm literally just talking about my own life.
Folks let me know is it transmisogynistic to not like being misgendered by other trans people, told your transition and life is "easy mode" by people who have no idea what you've been through, and being told that the act of talking about your experiences is misgendering yourself? That responding with "skill issue" when someone says "hey I don't pass so I do actually get treated like a cis woman all the time" is endlessly heartless? Because that's literally the context here, I said hey this group of posts made by you and your friends in the trans guy tags is pretty hurtful actually, and somehow *that* is the transphobic part and not... all of THIS.
So yes actually. Tell me *exactly* where I have been transmisogynistic here and who acting like this helps.
Actually my trans womanhood has a lot to do with men. Gay men, gender nonconforming men, drag queens, femboys, these groups all inspired me to transition. Yes I wanted to live a life of a woman but I never even realized that was possible before being exposed to gender conformity in men. It provided the basis for me to realize that I too could dress and act in any way I wanted.
My trans womanhood also has a lot to do with lesbians and gender nonconforming women. The lines are blurry in my personal experience. Itās been blurry in our actual real history as a community.
Itās not transmisogynist to recognize and cherish these connections we have to other gender nonconforming people, women or otherwise.
I'm transfem, but my egg was cracked by seeing transmascs living and loving their best lives. Seeing more and more of the full range of human experience showed me that I am not confined to the boxes society put me in.
Funnily enough (though I don't identify as a man, I am f -> m) my egg got cracked the same way. I'd grown up in an incredibly insular, Christian community and family. Accidentally stumbling upon femboys and yaoi as a preteen was how I realized there were even other options, and then by 14... What do you know. I came out. Seeing people who do not conform is so, so important. You're all wonderful.
Not people saying āFandom has always been like thisā in that vent post I made. No. It hasnāt always been like this. Fandom has NEVER been like this until recently and if you were in fandom pre-tumblr purge, pre-twitter, pre-netflix boom, pre-tiktokā¦.then you would fucking know it was nothing like this.
We still had the drive to create. We still sold prints and charms and made zinesā¦but it was never like this.
The introduction of streaming, binge shows that drop all at once, tiktok and vine RIP i still love u vine but you were the beginning of a particularly ugly era) creating this bite sized, quick paced ācontentā era of creation and it bled out into fucking everything else.
Fandoms didnāt die down when the show ended or the season was over. You didnāt mass unfollow artist, writers or moots just because they changed fandoms. There wasnāt this need to please the algorithm in order for your posts to get seen by people and enjoyed.
Fandoms used to last YEARS. Star Trek is literally the oldest running fandom out there and you got people in there that could care less about the new stuff and still have been happily prancing through their fucking fifty year old fandom today. Hell, even SPN after all itās fuckups and shitshows has a dedicated fanbase STILL creating tons of art and fic.
There is no patience anymore. No calm feeling of taking in fandom and friends at a pace that which doesnāt make you stressed and is still fun.
Do I blame fandom for this? Of course not, but people are complacent with it and start changing their vocab to accommodate and end up making the situation so deep it cant be fixed.
We call Art & Fic Content now, completely stripping the value of what it is to a level of consumerism instead of personal entertainment & community bonding.
Let OP talk, theyāre absolutely right.
Earlier today we shared our theory as to why proship accounts were being terminated and why these terminations were not being reversed as false/mistaken.
Our theory was that tumblr was actually enforcing the rules outlined in it's TOS change from November 2022, which appeared to be banning all depictions of underage characters in fictional text and artwork, as well as adult characters who are too short/chubby/cute etc.
As of now, this theory has been confirmed as true.
Fictional images and text about underage characters or characters who "appear" to be underage (no criteria or metric given) are no longer welcome on tumblr and are an offense receiving account termination.
This was confirmed by @proship-writing-prompts-archive who shared this screenshot regarding account termination.
Likewise it appears that victims discussing their experiences of child sexual abuse are no longer welcome on tumblr either. This info was shared by @xxlovelynovaxx and is also the likely reason for our own recent termination.
Tumblr is now officially a fiction and art hostile site. Please remember to treat it as such. If you think your content may fall under tumblr's new prohibition, please make sure to only post it at AO3, Pixiv, Inkbunny or Aethy and link to that account on your tumblr.
Likewise remember that these new rules apply equally to all members of the site, and that if you see fancops discussing child sexual abuse, or sexualizing characters who are under age those posts may (and should) be fairly reported.
So let me get this straight, this site will tolerate nazis, transphobes, death threats, suicide bait.
But the moment someone talks about their own personal experiences with abuse, they get the boot!?
Wtf tumblr?
Yeah, just for comparison on how tumblr deals with violent threats:
Reported content:
you people should be shot
Tumblr response:
We realize this content may be very upsetting, but Tumblr has no way to conclusively determine whether claims made on a blog are true or false.
If you believe that a blogger has made false claims on their blog regarding public safety or security issues, please report your concern in detail to an appropriate law enforcement organization if you believe that's appropriate.
sums pretty much my experience, like i would report someone who was promoting what it amounts to hate speech or some shit, gave links as proff tried to describe in great detail why it violates tumblrs rules and I would get that exact same response
URGENT: Congress about to pass a mass censorship and surveillance bill under the guise of "protecting children"
May 13 2023
The Senate has been in a "do something!" mode regarding children's online safety. They're using this as an excuse to push for widespread internet censorship and surveillance. I already spoke about the EARN IT Act, which has a slimmer chance of passing with widespread opposition and a few senators saying they won't vote for it. The real threat is actually KOSA (s.1409), the Kid's Online Safety Act. It does two primary things:
First, KOSA pressures platforms to install filters that would wipe the net of anything deemed āinappropriateā for minors. This means instructing platforms to censor. We saw how these filters impacted websites firsthand with tumblr in 2018, with not only blocking all adult content but also sfw queer content such as suicide hotlines, art archives, wiping out entire blogs because they had queer fandom related posts, etc. Places that already use content filtersĀ have restrictedĀ important information about suicide prevention and LGBTQ+ support groups. KOSAĀ would spreadĀ this kind of censorship to every corner of the internet. And who gets to decide what is and isn't harmful for minors? Oh don't worry, just every single state attorney general and the FTC, which is appointed by the president. You know, the same attorney generals that just banned gender-affirming healthcare under the guise that it "ruins mental health" of minors. This is why the Heritage Foundation was one of the first to sponsor the bill because they can use it to censor trans content, and Senator Marsha Blackburn of Tennessee is it's co-author.
Second, KOSA would ramp up the online surveillance of all internet users by forcing websites to use age verification and parental monitoring tools. Yup, that's right. Now every single person who wants to access the internet has to upload their govt ID online to third party apps that get hacked all the time. You queer in a red state? You undocumented? You an activist? Have fun getting all your online activity and metadata attached to your govt ID. Ā
Over 90+ human and LGBT rights groupsĀ agree that KOSA is dangerous and updates to the 2023 version wonāt and canāt address the big problems with the bill. This bill has MASSIVE bipartisan support, and the authors Blumenthal and Blackburn (yes, that Blumenthal that's pushing the EARN IT Act, and who also sponsored the RESTRICT Act and SOPA/PIPA if you remember) are using the tragedy of mothers who lost their kids to online harassment and young adults who've been traumatized online to lobby for it, and got Dove the company to use a bunch of influencers to push for this under the guise it prevents eating disorders...I wish I was lying. There are already 30 co-sponsors.
HOW TO FIGHT KOSA

Opposition is getting drowned, and these upcoming weeks will be heavy for lobbying and they're using young people to do it. We NEED to show these senators that young people are actually opposed to this and don't want it.

3. Spread the word.
The opposition is getting absolutely drowned online. Dove has nearly 100k signatures to push for KOSA. Influencers on tiktok are pushing for this without ever having read the bill. Fucking Lizzo is sponsoring it. If you have twitter, reddit, tiktok, are in any community, SPREAD THE WORD, PLEASE.
Here is a linktree with all the above petitions for easy shargin: Link to linktree
I initially thought this could be a positive thing without seeing the stipulations attachedā¦yikes. Protecting minors shouldnāt involve surveillance of literally everyone.
Thats how the senators managed to convince everyone, that its a good thing and not a mass censorship scheme crafted by literal satan incarnate Marsha Blackburn and surveillance-gets-my-dick-hard Blumenthal. The guy's sponsored every anti-internet bill since SOPA/PIPA

They are not the same thing, and will never be the same thing
Kotaku making a rare good post (even if many others have said it already) - the transition from forums to Discord is the transition from an open, archived, searchable internet to a fleeting, cloistered, and real-time-only internet.
When you realize in hindsight the Megatokyo Forums were peak internet infrastructureā¦
Just to add:
https://www.pcgamer.com/please-enjoy-discord-while-its-still-good/
The loss of Groovy reinforced an anxiety that Iāve been feeling for a long time: The Discord we have right now cannot and will not last forever. Our server has a new music bot, Rythm, thatās about as good as Groovy, but for how long?
Iāve been thinking this ever since they added a nitro gifting button right next to the picture button.
I like discord today. I know it wonāt last.

Post by āMikeĀ IĀ Guessā @āmike_i_guess:
The lack of boomer LGBTQ+ people isnāt because itās āmore popular now.ā Many were murdered by their peers, died from government inaction during the AIDS crisis, committed suicide due to lack of social supports, or have had to live in the closet due to their peersā cruelty.
āThe men in white are the surviving members of the Original San Francisco Gay Menās Choir. Those in black represent the members lost to AIDs. Remember this when people say the gay community survived the epidemic. We had to start over because we lost a whole generation.ā (original post)
I got this comment on a story from my Other AO3 Account this morning.
(Info redacted because I prefer keeping these accounts separate but no one follows me on the side blog I have for that account.)
The story was posted almost a year ago and is relatively āpopularā by my average statistics even though it has tropes and themes that are big turnoffs for a lot of people (hence separate accounts). This popularity is undoubtedly because itās a Marvel Loki story and that fandom is massive.
So there is obviously an algorithm or a bot scrubbing ao3 statistics and leaving this comment on fics that meet a certain metric with the main character of the fic inserted into the comment.
I had a little time to kill this morning so I decided to investigate further. And yāall this is so predatory. Come on this journey with me. It made me mad. It may make you mad.
First, if you go to Webnovelās website, you HAVE to choose between male lead or female lead stories before you can go any further. WTF?
And thatās weird, but this gets so much worse. This is basically a pay-to-read site that has different subscription models. Which⦠okay BUT! The authors donāt get paid! Look at that comment again. Theyāre promising a supportive and nurturing community, but zero monetary compensation. Itās basically, āpost your stuff here so we can get paid and you can get⦠nice vibes?ā I mean look at this Orwellian writing:
Using the phrase āpay-to-read modelā in the same sentence as āqualitative changes in lifestyles for authorsā deliberately makes you think that you can get paid and maybe even make a living on this website. But thatās not actually what it says and authors will not receive one red cent.
Oh but wait, the worst is still to come. In case this breaks containment (which I kind of hope it does) this is where I mention that Iām a lawyer in the US.
I donāt do intellectual property or copyright law but I do read and write contracts for a living. So I went to look at their terms of service. It was fun!
Highlights the first, in which Webnovel gets a license to do basically whatever they want with content you post on their site. This is how they get to be paid for people reading authorsā writing without paying them anything.
Highlights the second, in which Webnovel takes no responsibility for illegally profiting off of fan fic. This all says that the writer is 100% responsible for everything the writer posts (even though only Webnovel is making money from it).
Highlights the third which say that by posting, the author is representing that they have the legal right to use and to let Webnovel use the content according to these terms. So if a writer posts fan fiction and Webnovel makes money from people reading the fan fiction, and the House of the Mouse catches wise, these sections say that thatās ALL on the writer.
So thatās a little skeevy to start off with but the thing that is seriously shitty and made me make this post was that these assholes are coming to ao3. They are actively recruiting people in comments on their fan fiction. And they are saying they are big fans of the character youāre writing about and that they share your interests.
They are recruiting fan fiction writers and giving every impression that you can make money from posting fan fiction on their site and hiding the fact that you absolutely cannot but they can make money off of you while you try, deep in their terms of service which no one but a lawyer who writes fan fic and has some time to kill will read.
I see posts on here regularly from people who donāt understand how this stuff works, donāt understand that they (and others) can not legally make a financial profit from fan fiction. And there are tons of people who will not take the time to dig into the details.
Donāt deal with these bastards. Fuck Webnovel.
[id: a reddit post in r/actuallesbians by u/96sheep thatās titled: My relationships with trans women have been the most spiritual Iāve had.
the post reads: It can be hard to articulate exactly why. Friendships, and my relationships alike. Iām cis but Iām a butch lesbian and I have struggled with being a woman - with what it means when being a woman is defined so much by our relationship to men but Iām living a life apart from men.
That melts away when Iām with my trans partner. It feels like Iām being drenched in reverence for womanhood as an independent, self-realised, personally crafted concept that has nothing to do with women being other or secondary to or defined by patriarchy. Like being brushed with gold. It is spiritually, emotionally healing. Itās hopeful. /end]
not proshipper not anti but a secret third thing (person who has a career in the media and, through covering legislative politics, has watched "associating with problematic fiction or entertainment is an indicator of moral degeneracy" rapidly become a mainstream GOP position that they are encoding in legislation to target the queer community under the guise of protecting children, thus coming to the conclusion that positioning the "can people enjoy things that would be immoral IRL in their fiction" debate as a proship v anti fandom debate is akin to pretending that "should we have the death penalty" is a discussion that only matters in Death Note discourse ā the extent and manner to which fiction affects reality is an issue that is immediately relevant to today's US politics, and to summarize my opinions on the matter in fandom terms would be to diminish the ways this debate is affecting america Right The Fuck Now. and i have stopped taking "this person is bad for shipping the wrong anime thing and being horny about it" in any sort of good faith ever since I saw it literally used as part of a GOP smear campaign against a transgender state legislator in an attempt to defend the right from backlash after they used their supermajority in the Montana house to prevent her from speaking on the floor. Anyway I think everyone on this site, especially Americans, could benefit from ceasing to think in proship v anti vocabulary and instead developing coherent political positions on the nature of fiction that do not directly align with current fascist political tactics)
Naruto said trans rights
My phone autocorrected Mewtwo to Naruto but you know what, Naruto says trans rights too.
"We need to make R-rated movies more palatable and moral because kids might sneakily watch them"
Do people even hear themselves???
sometimes it really feels like neutral ppl, androgynous ppl, and/or ppl who're not men or women in any way aren't welcome or included in trans spaces. everyone talks about things in terms of transmasc and transfem completely leaving out terms like transneutral, and associates medical transition with the binary genders. ppl constantly leave out non-aligned nb ppl when talking about trans stuff and medical transition and even when they are included, it seems like it's implied that everyone is either transmasc or transfem or that nb ppl who medically transition must be men or women in some way. it really feels like just the same old gender binary but trans man and trans woman inclusive. not everyone is transmasc or transfem, and not everyone who wants to medically transition in some way is a man or a woman and i really wish some ppl would realize that.
hey shoutout to butches who dont preform masculinity in the āok and safeā range. shoutout to butches who are large and intimidating and hairy and loud and dont represent the weird watered down butchness that the media loves to showcase.
