Reasons to love Mike Hanlon

((CONTAINS SPOILERS FOR THE BOOK AND THE MINISERIES))

- Mike is and always was the only reason that the losers worked out the connection between Pennywise and the 27 years.  (Yeah I’m still mad the movies gave that to Ben) 

- Mike’s relationship with his family is never depicted in any on screen adaptation but is one of the best parts of his character in the book

- the only reason we have the interludes in the book is because of Mike

- he kept a diary for 27 years like that is an achievement and a half

- he went back down into the sewers in the 27 years the losers were away, alone.  in the dark.  fully prepared for the possibility that pennywise would wake up and kill him, just to save the silver bullets.  

- he told the losers at the restaurant that they could go back home, that he was prepared to take pennywise on himself even though he knew it wouldn’t work that way

- mike interviewed literally every person possible to be as prepared as possible for the likelihood they’d have to fight pennywise again

- he got stabbed by henry bowers and yet his main concern was still everybody else

- he stayed in a racist town with a clown living in the sewers for 27 years as a librarian just to protect six people who didn’t remember him.  Six people who protected him once a long time ago.  

- he kept tabs on every single loser watching from afar just to make sure that they were safe

- Mike Hanlon is the most selfless, criminally underrated character who does not get enough appreciation for everything he did.  He’s such a big part of the IT story and I feel like (particularly in the movies) that’s overlooked

The morning light trickled in and Bill sighed. Stanley wasn’t awake yet and Bill took the time to appreciate the person beside him. Blonde curls were splayed on the pillow, and Stan looked more at peace than he had in days.

I am so glad it's finally Saturday.

Bill smiled to himself and glanced at the alarm clock over Stan's shoulder. "Eight- Thirty" it read, and that was enough to convince Bill to fall asleep again.

 With a gentle sigh he wrapped an arm around Stan and pulled him close.

"Hm?" Stan murmured at Bill, eyes fluttering open at the contact. "Everything okay?" He shifted slightly, turning so he could look at Bill. 

"Yeah, I'm good. Just woke up but I don't want to get out of bed yet." Bill's response came out mumbled, eyes already closed again.  He could feel the blankets shift again and moved his arm so Stan could shift all the way around. 

"And before you say anything, it's Saturday, we don't have to be out of bed yet." A small laugh got Bill to open his eyes again, met with the sight of Stan smiling at him, not a worry in the world. 

He looks so cute. I'm glad I have him. Before he could help himself he found himself lost in his own thoughts.

"And just what are you thinking about over there?"

Bill smiled at Stan, taking his face in with a content sigh before answering. "You make me so unbelievably happy."

A light blush covered Stan's face and he looked away, embarrassed. "You can't just say things like that...especially when I just woke up." 

"I can say them if I mean them right? And I mean it, you keep me from staying up too late and I love being able to wake up next to you whenever I want. Plus, someone's got to make sure you don't just work and work and work." A smile stretches across Bill's face and he presses gentle kiss on Stan's forhead. "Don't fret too much about it, I just need you to know that I mean it. You mean a lot to me, thanks for making me happy by just being you."
