I can theoretically understand people who don't boycott McDonald's because McDonald's is fucking EVERYWHERE and they're often the only 24hr restaurant in people's towns. I still think it's shitty to do and should be avoided regardless, but I could maybe theoretically understand the circumstances. Chick-fil-A is literally closed 1/7 days of the week, has limited hours, and few locations. You have to actively go out of your way to support Chick-fil-A and it's fucking heinous to me that people keep doing so.

to anyone in the areas impacted by the wildfire smoke, my #1 biggest piece of advice as someone whos been dealing with wildfire smoke in the NW united states for years, is build yourself a Corsi-Rosenthal Cube

they perform as well as expensive HEPA air cleaners, and are comparatively VERY inexpensive. all you need is a box fan, 4 air filters, a piece of cardboard, and some duct tape!!!!

i think it took us maybe a half hour to put ours together, if that, and we replace the filters every 3 months. it's really made a HUGE difference, both when the air quality is bad, but also with our allergies

Also just a handy, DIY air filter in general, if a bit bulky. For a less bulky and cheaper (but also less effective) solution, you can simply tape one filter to the fan, cut a shroud if you'd like.

Maybe I'm a jackass for still thinking about this, but something from the Patricia Taxxon - Hbomberguy shit that happened back in May that still really bugs me is the way that people were portraying Patricia Taxxon as some sort of starfucker who got mad that Hbomberguy didn't want to be the bestest of best buddies. I thought it was pretty fucking clear that Patricia Taxxon was accusing Hbomb of pretending to be her friend whenever he wanted to underpay her for work, but otherwise not actually being her friend. A lot of neurodivergent people can be really bad about interpreting social cues and Patricia was accusing him of specifically using that fact to his advantage to get discounted music, a read that is reasonable to me.

I had this kind of shit happen to me a lot when I was in middle/high school and receiving good grades. People who had no interest in befriending me would deliberately play nice and pretend to care about me as a person whenever they wanted the answers for an assignment. They would very quickly ghost me once they had successfully convinced me that I was a friend of theirs that I could help in that way. It's really fucking painful to realize that people are taking advantage of your inability to read social cues and it legitimately pisses me off that people who should know better than to take advantage of someone in that way are doing so gleefully, then using their social clout to eschew any sort of guilt or consequence.
