“Cats don’t actually love you”
A cat is a small creature in the middle of the food chain that is fully aware that you are a very large thing that could stomp its head in at any moment and yet it chooses to rest its tiny little head on your leg for a nap and spreads out on the floor near you exposing its belly and its most sensitive organs. It brings dead mice and bugs to you to share food.
Don’t you get it? This tiny thing trusts you. It wants to help you too. It licks your leg thinking that it’s helping. It kneads on you to find comfort. It shares its body warmth with you in the cold and gives you your space in the heat. It hisses at other mammals it sees outside including other cats in an effort to protect its family.
Cats love you so so much. But they will keep trying to eat plastic.
your hearts not even in it
I'd seen some of pattie gonia's stuff but hadn't looked into her, and i found this interview about her thoughts for climate change activism and getting queer people connected to the outdoors and it's just so beautiful
I have a soft spot for zombie movies bc you know those extras are having fun. usually being a movie extra just means standing around blending into the background, but these guys get to put on gory makeup then run around screaming and growling and trying to bite people. aspirational
@tiredandoptimistic pondering your tags like a wizard pondering their Orb:
#i did zombie survival camp as a kid and once you were killed you got to be an npc and do all the creepy gore makeup and attack your friends. the emotional turnaround was crazy. you've spent four days in the woods building this complete immersion and fear. they systemically eroded our trust in all our counselors until it felt like we were completely alone out there. and then you're finally too slow or don't hide well enough. and then BAM. go to the makeup bin and start practicing your growling because it's time to goof around freakstyle
yeah so the world has these massive reservoirs of lifefluid surrounding all the land masses, but it's actually poisonous. you drink it and you wind up dying of lifefluid deprivation.
no, it's not an industrial accident or a wizard's curse. it's just like that because it contains too much keepstuff.
Settles down on your dashboard gingerly and with a big heaving sigh

GUESS WHAT TIME IT IS 🎃
Best fucking moment in all of anime history.
Nova Scotia passes law to remove Mi’kmaw land protectors
The NS government just passed a bill called "Protecting Nova Scotians Act" so they can "legally" remove the Mi'kmaw land protectors on Hunter's Mountain to "to protect Nova Scotians utilizing wood resources". Land protectors who refuse to leave the mountain could face up to a $50,000 fine and/or six months in jail!
This is a huge violation of my people's rights and I would like to encourage every Nova Scotian to please make as much a fuss about this as possible. And to every Canadian and person abroad, please continue to pay close attention to this struggle. We are about to see so much police brutality increase, I feel it.
Gaslighting of impressive proportions coming from the minister responsible for L’nu Affairs (who is meant to coordinate Mi'kmaq and government consultation — which was entirely circumvented this time around), Leah Martin:
(source)
This is an egregious, unconstitutional and blatant violation of Treaty Rights, and the framing of this legislation as part of a package in service of "protecting Nova Scotians" is unacceptable.
If you are a resident of Nova Scotia, this is the time to support the Sipekne’katik First Nation’s call for Leah Martin’s immediate resignation, and to apply pressure on the provincial legislature. Contact your member of the Legislative Assembly (Don't know who that is? Find out here.)
The reason this bill was able to be passed in the first place was Tim Houston’s Progressive Conservative Party running the shortest fall session of the legislature since 1986 (8 days!!!) and packing these amendments into omnibus bills covering a collection of unrelated matters from enforcing criminal record checks for bar bouncers to addressing housing concerns for victims of domestic violence to… this. Yes, all of these amendments are in one bill. Yes, they're trying to confuse the issue on purpose.
Their strategy is to ram this legislation through without giving the opposition and public time to put forward meaningful resistance, let alone get public attention on the subject. And this will keep getting worse if Nova Scotians allow them to get away with it. Do not let them. Keep your eyes on Unama'ki. Be loud, be disruptive & stand in solidarity with L'nu defenders.

um................... can i help you
Tfw when men do that thing where they pretend they have no control over their temper. LOL It’s so funny like am I supposed to pretend that I don’t know you’re completely self-aware and present during this rage performance. Or should I pretend you’re the tortured hero in a movie, possessed by a series of fabricated flashbacks of the war and your father
Someone put in the “Why Does He Do That” quote
Another one:
"Abuse is a problem of values, not of psychology... An abuser tries to keep everybody - his partner, his therapist, his friends and relatives - focused on how he feels, so that they won't focus on how he thinks, perhaps because on some level he is aware that if you grasp the true nature of his problem, you will begin to escape his domination."
