I was trying to give Fixing RWBY an honest shot just so I could best have my own arguments concerning it, and while I still plan to make my way through it i was using nitter to scroll through his posts on twitter and found out that he has repeatedly targeted @tumblingxelian personally. And not in the sense of discussion or concern like my work on hbomerguyās videoāno, this is mean. Spiteful. You can tell by the posts and the thumbnails alone that this is not about anything but being angry someone makes an effort to regularly praise the parts of RWBY they love.
Any good faith i was attempting to go in with (on principle, and to have the most objective criticisms of the material rather than merely taking common FNDM criticisms as my own) has been lost by this discovery.
To me this is far more damning of his character than a shitty fanfic.

For all the chatter about misinformation, there sure is a lot of it.
Take their Shadversity video for instance, which apparently people think he's taking his side on????
He clearly isn't.
There's also an attempt to say that Celtic himself said FRWBY wasn't actually fanfiction but rather spiteful criticism.
Except that's not true at all and the links to the actual tweet point that out:
Someone said "this is why the RWBY community gets such a bad rep", except they got the order mixed up in their rant.
Their hyperdefensiveness is the reason why the community gets a bad rep, not because of the people they label the HTDM, especially given the misinformation they spread.
Iāve actually been pushing against the shadiversity claims myself.
To be clear, no oneās claiming the FNDM is anywhere close to perfect. Like every fandom, we have plenty of our own bullshit.
And yes, the hyper-defensiveness can be a problem. Sometimes people in the FNDM are a little too ready to believe things.
What you may not have seen and certainly have not experienced is that we are constantly mocked, belittled, shut down, insulted and subjected to constant bad faith.
We are hyper-defensive not because we canāt accept criticism, but because we have to CONSTANTLY field lies about the CRWBY, grifts profiting off negativity around the show, complete and total disregard of the text in favor of narratives born of personal grievances , and personal insults aimed at us for daring to love a show accepted by so many as āobjectively badā.
Oh yeah and just outright bigotry and misogyny.
Is it everyone who doesnāt like the show? Of course not.
Is it a lot of the people who we as people who love the show have to interact with as the ācriticsā of the show? Yes. Oh god yes. So much.
Hereās the thing. I see Celticās tweet there. But this is his own playlist description for FRWBY.
Is it explicitly contradictory? No.
Does it have very different emotional implications? Absolutely.
āInfinite potential left to squander in a desert of inexperienceā is pretty fucking harsh. Doesnt indicate a whole lot of respect to the existing show.
Alsoā¦.Celtic himself has noted that FRWBY has rather diverged into its own beast. Itās a full-on AU at this point. Calling it āFixingā and ācritizing its weaknesses while elevating its strengthsā when he has changed so many things are fundamentally contradictory. They also imply a level of objectivity that is absolutely not present. If he wants to write an AU closer to his own preferences, that would have been fine.
Implying (including via even the title itself) that his version is the ābetterā version of the main show when its become a fundamentally different approach to literally everything is just a superiority complex.
Also, for all your criticism of our āhyper-defensivenessā you seem to be doing the same thing for Celtic, no?
