I CAME TO THIS PLACE JUST TO SHARE MY OWN PERSONAL MOTH, the other sites don't like me anymore.
Alright, here i go, time for me to talk about modern art cause i saw a thing online and i can't keep my brain waves to myself. So, earlier today i saw a post on social media with people talking about Cy Twombly, this discussion came mostly from a new york times article written in 2018 by Roberta Smith
now of course as the internet is most people did not read the article, instead just seeing the main image of the article and being horrified and pearl clutching over the fact that this is being show in a museum ever, the picture being this.
This is Cy Twomblys piece "Untitled" (another thing people hate in modern art for some reason) from 1954, and is a single piece in a large Exhibit called "In Beauty It Is Finished" now of course there was the usual sweep of "my kid could draw that" and "this isn't art it's just scribbles" not really helped along with the fact that a medium that Cy Twombly has worked with quite a few times is Crayons (despite the fact that any art medium can create beautiful art but that is a whole other story). and those comments didn't really bother me much, the one that really hit me was the comment "At first I thought this sucks, but after reading the context I’ve realized it sucks and is pretentious" with alot of people replying to this comment with stuff like "THANK YOU" and "THIS!" I completely understand if not all modern art speaks to you, not all art is supposed to speak to everyone... i don't understand people who dismiss modern art due to it being modern art but i can understand someone seeing this piece and not getting it, i understand someone looking at it and not feeling the primality in it, the basis of what makes art, the glowing flow of orange dancing over the nature filled greenery with the dark shadows being cast from the red sun, i will also admit it is far from my favorite piece that Cy has created. But keeping a closed mind about art is and has to be extremely sad right? like the idea of reading an explanation of what makes this piece so interesting and fun, the idea that it is meant to be an exploration of art as a process, the primal urge to create art and the symbols people can find in the most cryptic symbols human beings can make, the nature of art as art. it is also important to note that you scribbling on a piece of paper with crayons, showing it to the world and saying "look, i can do this too" is what the piece is kind of inviting you to do? it wants you to explore those inner feelings of creating, and the fact that the human mind, even with the basis of splattering colors on a piece of paper still creates something. i showed this piece of a friend of mine and they told me they really liked the symbolism of a phoenix rising from the ashes of a burned down forest, a different take from mine but still sits with those same base elements doesn't it? it still sees the forest, it still sees those warm colors, it still sees hope in a sense, the same symbols drawn from different conclusions of what the art piece shows. Now this is far from an original take on modern art, even less so a nuanced one, it's just rambles on tumblr but sometimes i just need to get thoughts out, and honestly, i would love to hear what you see, what is this art, i know you don't look at it and just see scribbles, if you do then try again, let it sit with you for a bit, i wanna hear what your mind wants to say.

The Lovers means... well, it means love! it means connection, it means finding out who you are and who you want to be, it means figuring out what you love, who you love and never letting that feeling go, the Lovers is about the heart, and the choices that lay closest to it.
Hey so it's come to my attention that the Creators of Disco Elysium want you to share the game and not give the company who took over and fired them (illegally)?) any profits off of their ideas and work, and I originally joined tumblr 2 weeks ago when that post was going around about the Steam sale and how you should [Skull and Crossbones flag] it instead.
So.
in light of that.

HI LET’S SHARE NICOLE’S WORDS ON THE SUBJECT!
It has been literal years but every time I see Martin’s tweets posted somewhere and his word is shared as truth while her post is not shared it sort of reiterates the fact that we trust men to speak about feminism more than we believe women who experience it.
Interesting, innit? https://medium.com/@nickyknacks/working-while-female-59a5de3ad266
Reading her account of how their boss treated her blows me away. Men are so emboldened that they will literally admit to illegal discrimination casually and face no consequences.
In all the years of seeing this post I’ve never seen a link to her side. Didn’t even know she’d written one.
Adding screenshots of her post. His whole post is there without needing a link. Hers should be, too.
Also, she posted this is 2017! It’s fucking 2020 and I’ve seen his side of this for years, but it took 3 years for her side to make its way to my dash…
I’ve reblogged his story at least twice; it’s time for Nicole’s.
Reblogged him, bout time I got to reblog her.
Skylars First Day
Okay, here we are, my first little short story, i've been sitting for a while thinking of which one i should post first and i think this is a good place to start. It's not long but, well, here are the warnings, i do hope you enjoy! (WARNING, THE FOLLOWING READ CONTAINS: CW: Homophobia and homophobic Slurs, CW: Violence)
----
The ground was cold, cold and wet, the misty rain didn’t do the town any favors, even hidden from the main street he felt too exposed. he let out a soft breath, resting his head back against the concrete wall of whatever big building was behind him, his Jacket torn to pieces at this point, he could feel the goosebumps on his skin, the cold was slowly breaking through.
he whiped the wetness off of his face, looking at the thick red layer on the back of his hand, the lip was torn, no doubt about it, nose bleed maybe too, fuck.
he grinned softly, if it wasn’t for his own brain currently deep frying itself in ecstasy he would be in way more pain, but currently he had no idea where else he would be bleeding from.
“fuck me…” he whispered slightly, the cold air digging further into his skin, the city had never agreed with him since he moved here, and even though this wasn’t the first time he had been fucked up it had never been this heavily, a few punches and maybe spit in his face at most… never to blood.
he whipped the blood off of his hand onto his shirt, getting the pack of smokes from his jacket pocket, one left, putting the bud in his mouth he threw the empty carton away, picking up his lighter, giving it a few tries before the flame popped up.
he sat there, maybe for a bit too long, using the flame to warm his hands for a moment before lighting the cig and taking a deep inhale.
he let the filtered smoke run through his lungs, exhaling as he looked at the now blood covered bud of his cig.
“HEY FAGGOT”
the voice pierced the air and destroyed the quiet moment, Skylar took another drag, he didn’t react, didn’t want to give him the satisfaction “HEY SHITSTAIN I’M TALKING TO YOU!”
“fuck…” he murmured under his breath, struggling a bit to stand up, the kick to his stomach from earlier had hit prettier than he first thought, taking a moment to glance at the cunt he saw the same guy as before, the so called big man from infront of the club that was mad at him for… god knows what reason.
“sorry… out of smokes” Skylar said with a bit of grin, trying to keep his cool, of course he didn’t want another beating, but he was kind of stuck between a rock and a hard place, sitting in this alley to catch his breath had only left him more trapped, and no matter how agile he thought himself there was no way he could climb the metal fence behind him before the big guy caught up.
“playing dumb fuckboy? you know why i’m here” “double fuck…” Skylar whispered, putting on his best brave face, again, it hadn’t been the first time he had been beaten, and especially after moving, this place hadn’t exactly been kind to him.
“you didn’t get laid and now you need a new way to get your dick h-hard?” The tremble in his voice hadn’t been planned, ruined the combat, but the cold was really setting in now, even the smoke inside hadn't kept him warm.
The man grinned, a fucked up evil grin, the kind Skylar hadn’t seen before “that was funny, got another one inside you”
Skylars face went from a soft grin to terror in almost a second, the man was slowly stepping closer, prompting Skylar to slowly step back, but that wasn’t the terrifying part, the shine in his hand was what filled him with horror.
“w-wow, d-dude, i-it was just a joke…” His voice was trembling, he had no idea what to do, almost falling over himself as he slowly moved back, a few steps more and he was pressed up against the metal fence.
that fucked up grin hadn’t left the mans face for a second, every single step he took that shine got a little more clearer and that grin a little bit wider “You think you're funny huh?”
Skylar couldn’t answer, he just shook his head, terrified, his hands gripping onto the metal fencing, no idea what else to do, as the man suddenly lunged forward.
the knife plunging deep into Skylars the lower part of his chest, pain shot through him, a thing he barely had the chance to react to as the knife was pulled out, pierced into his body over and over again, he counted in his last moment 5 painful piercings of the blade before everything went dark… and cold, but his scarred chest tells a different and much longer story.
Franziska telling the story of her brother's difficult Uni years to his adoptive kid, Clover.
FINALLY, after over a week I finished this.
NGL by the time I got to the last two pages I was losing motivation, so they're kinda sloppy compared to the rest..... Also, I used photos I've taken for the backgrounds.
This comic is basically the summary of Angus' BG story, namely the part with his toxic ex friend/friends-with-benefits Vincent, and his rival-turned-close-friend-eventually Chester Knight/Azul Samaros.
Clover doesn't call Angus "dad," he mainly calls him "Doc" or Angus, because he has some reservations towards the term "dad" (or mum). And yes, Angus and Franziska are bio siblings, they just happened to manifest very different heritage from their bloodlines when born.
(The "Reuben" that gets mentioned is Azul/Chester's bio little brother btw.)
This was the first 'proper' comic I did and it seems since then I've managed to have the motivation to do them more often. I'm guessing this helped me find a workflow that didn't kill my interest midway through
Okay, i am very tired, and i refuse to believe i am the first person to have this thought and if i am... that's sad cause i wanted to see it.
Okay, full on Noir detective, black and white, harsh lighting, deep shadows, dark room, ominous voice over with just the right accent, smoke is in the room of course, a bit too much smoke maybe, close up shots of the detective.
He is tapping his foot, dress shoes.
A tie, slightly loose.
The smoke falls over, we out, and he is ripping mad clouds on a highly modified vape, i'm talking the fist sized boxes with a screen, he clicks the button... red... it's the only color, we hear the bubbling, way too much smoke, he puffs out, whole place smells of artificial strawberries.
He makes sure to be misoginistic with a line about women and artificial strawberries, adds to the realism.
So i work nightshifts at an amusement park hotel, half the time there isn't anything to do, so in general it's pretty nice, i work from 10 pm to 7 am, so when we reach the 5 -6 am mark i start zoning out quite a bit.
There is a giant dragon in the lobby, it just hangs out, normally it makes sounds, luckily those shut off at around 10 pm so i don't have to listen to them all night.
But, the sounds start up again about 30 minutes before i get off work, and i've noticed i now have a physical response to this dragon roar that just fills me with joy and a burst of energy ontop of my tired mind.
Like "here he is! The dragon! To save me, to take me away from this horrible place! He rings in the horns of the morning shift! Claim me! Be my prince!"
All this to say, i think it has made me crush on dragons now.
I think it might be important to state te dragon looks like this, and it isn't like a roar sound it makes, more like a wheezing and coughing sound... so i might just have gotten hot for dad bods and smokers rather than dragons but who knows
