And at the end of the day, I hate that queer stories in media are being treated like they're 'cringe' or 'forced on the public'. Being aromantic was something I think I always knew about myself but never was able to accept because I wasn't like the stereotype that you see everywhere. It was a sexuality that wasn't talked about much and anything I saw of it always fit slightly wrong to me. Because I never understood what it really felt like, because I never had something to compare my experience to. But if I had something to look at and relate to, I am so sure I would have come to terms with myself years ago. I am so happy that queer media is becoming more normalized through the past few years, but I can't help but mourn the little me that needed it back then. So yeah, maybe shows always having a token gay kid is a little cringe but I would rather that then have some kid have nothing to look at and feel horrible about themselves for years.
