Lately I’ve been stressed at work because there was a complete change in management at the beginning of the year, and our sales have picked up- and because of that it has been really difficult to get the tasks I’m supposed to do done. Some days I do feel kinda shitty physically due to ongoing health problems and that makes it even more difficult, but I do try my best.
The new GM also doesn’t have the same expectations as far as what I should be doing/prioritizing as we have had for the entire time I have worked there (just over 4 years) so it creates a situation in which I am being made to look like I am lazy/slacking off, when really I just can’t keep up with everything.
When expectations change all the time, and business has picked up and the new morning manager does her tasks in an order/speed that doesn’t help you complete your own tasks it’s really discouraging.
I already decided that I am going to find a “real job” once the pandemic is over, but this really solidifies my decision. The bottom line is: they don’t pay me enough to get to make me feel bad about myself.
Apparently the insurance company will only pay to keep my brother in the mental health facility for a week (or even less). He needs to be in a facility for literally months...
I just- I don’t know how I am going to deal with him just coming home after trying to kill himself. I feel so hurt that he did that. I know it’s not my life, and this isn’t about me, but I still feel so hurt and betrayed. I don’t know how I’m going to be able to be around him for a while. I know I have to be there for support, since I am basically the one who has to talk him out of a breakdown almost every night, but I can’t stomach the thought of him just coming home and trying to, what? Act like it’s all normal? Like it’s all good that he tried to end his own life?
My mom just had a heart attack, her doctors told her she needs to avoid stress. What if he had died, what would happen to her?
Our sister is 12 years old, what if she had found him dead? What kind of mind-fuck would that be for a kid?
We all have our own lives- we all work, we all need to sleep, how the fuck are we supposed to make sure he doesn’t try again? How are we going to be able to completely suicide-proof the whole house? We literally live next to a train track he could lay on. We have stairs he could hang himself from. There are so many ways someone could kill themself, and you can’t safeguard every single thing.
I am definitely going to need therapy from the anxiety this is causing me. I already had to deal with the possibility of losing my mom, now this. My brain is fucking fried.
My brother attempted suicide early this morning when I was asleep and everyone else was at work. He took a handful of his depression meds and drank half a bottle of Kraken rum.
Luckily my mom only works for a few hours a day, so she came home and found him quickly and we got an ambulance here. Now he’s going to be in a mental health facility for a while.
I am pretty fucked up about this, but the silver lining is that he is going to an inpatient facility. Which has needed to happen for months now, but every time we take him to be evaluated they ask him if he’ll be ok to go home and do an outpatient, and if course no one wants to go to a mental hospital, so he says yes and they let him leave.
I just hope they keep him for long enough to make a difference, and I hope it is a good facility that will actually help him.
2020 has been one big clusterfuck. My mom had a heart attack (she’s ok) and my brother tried to commit suicide. On top of everything else this year has brought.
I am just so grateful they are both ok.
My brother is in the process of transitioning, and I would be devastated if he never got to see himself after the process is complete. He has been talking about it daily for over two years now, and thinking about it for much longer. I know it won’t magically cure his mental health issues, but I think being fully seen as a man and not dealing with dysphoria would help so much and allow him to blossom into a confident, capable person.

That scream fire piece of advice is literally life saving
