It’s so crazy that suicide prevention is just people going awwww don’t!! Awwww come on noooooooooo stopppppp
One of the best ones I saw was a thing noting that every single one of the few survivors of suicide jumps off of the Golden Gate Bridge realized, on the way down, that the problems they were killing themselves over actually were fixable or could be worked through...except for the now - extremely unfixable - problem of gravity.
Went to the Holocaust Museum in DC once. There was a video interview of an Auschwitz survivor who said he and some other prisoners stayed up all night with a man who wanted to kill himself. The man didn’t kill himself and survived to liberation.
In the video the survivor said “Never seek a permanent solution to a temporary problem. And they’re all temporary problems.”
Hearing that from a guy who survived the Holocaust rewired my brain a little bit.
I think something a lot of people don't understand is that depression is not suicidality, and suicidality is not depression. People can, and are, depressed without being suicidal, and sometimes suicidality peaks as people are emerging from depression. Suicidality is a wave, and the trick is to allow that wave to crest and subside WITHOUT acting on it. Whatever it takes to ride it out. For some people that's distraction, like watching television. For others it's calling a friend -- not to talk about the suicidality, but just to talk. For others it could be as simple as going to sit in a coffee shop or library, because the presence of other people is a huge diminisher of suicide risk. That's what suicide safety planning is about. It's like having any other type of emergency plan, like a plan for fire or evacuation. It's making a plan when you are in the frame of mind to do so, so that you can just DO the plan without having to think about it when the occasion arises. When you're in the midst of suicidal ideation, or even intent, you're not in a problem-solving mood. So knowing past!you, with the help of a therapist hopefully, came up with the plan and all you have to do is follow up until the wave crests and subsides, is what allows you to see another day.

The hammer of justice really is the best secret boss, huh. Just,,, wow. Designing his attacks with entirely new tricks and gimmicks you have to adapt to which make him practically unbeatable on a first try, making you rely on slowly improving your attack memorisation, all while using solely susies OKHeal for stabilisation, which also slowly improves the more you use it because shes practising and becoming more confident with it…. It’s genius. Honestly might be the best boss fight in the entire game so far even.
Keep it real:
If I threw a "Black Ops 3" concert
would you come?
do you have any advice on sticking to a piano practice routine? I wanna practice guitar but i feel like I keep 'forgetting' or make time to do it
I think it all boils down to making a schedule and sticking by it! Going to be fully transparent that I was not always as consistent with piano as I should be—I started weekly lessons in late February, and since then I’ve had weeks totally on the wagon and some weeks in between where I could be practicing more—and the biggest reason for that lay not in the fact that I wasn’t passionate enough or anything, but more so that I was very prone to being derailed and didn’t have a clear, cutthroat list of priorities.
If you want to be consistent w literally anything in life, it needs to be one of your top priorities. Full stop. If you want to read more, it has to be in your top 5 priorities. If you want to practice more guitar, it has to be in your top 5 priorities. Literally you have to ask yourself “what actually matters to me more than this cocktail of things that keeps pulling me every which way?” and then make a list of priorities. Piano is like in my top 3, so since I’ve come to terms with that I’ve been practicing daily a lot more (even if it’s during ungodly hours when I should definitely be sleeping <3). Make that list!!!
You have to be okay with anything further down your priorities coming in ebbs and flows. For me hanging out with people on the daily isn’t really all that pertinent to my lifestyle at the moment, so I fully accept that due to prioritizing other things socializing will ebb and flow. I’m okay w that and no longer feel guilt for it bc I’ve made the conscious choice that it’s not high on my (current, ephemeral, elastic!) list of priorities.
You have to be your biggest coach tbh bc even having an instructor hasn’t guaranteed I’ll be on track. Her job is just to give me the lesson plan and the tools. The rest is on you! There is no magic trick to this other than constantly reminding yourself why this is even on your schedule to begin with & staying the course
Btw I want to actually add that 90% of us were raised in a society that doesn’t value discipline when it comes to these endeavors. Unless you were raised in a very particular environment, you’ll never have someone pushing you to practice guitar the way they would push you to finish your degree and get a job. So it has to be even more on you to be your own coach / the person who gives it importance. I don’t think you’ll find that outside of yourself when it comes to hobbies, so external motivation can be low / not helpful!! Most people would tell you not to push yourself or take it so seriously
Which is definitely fine if thats how you want to approach it, but for us who legitimately want to learn a skill it can feel a bit stifling! Like you def shouldn’t be practicing so hard you have tears in your eyes and it makes you hate the thing lol, but I still think discipline even on days where youre not motivated matters so so much. It’s not a crime if you’re serious about it. Literally do what you want but just make sure you’re not failing your priorities by not showing up or being too scattered 🩷 that’s exactly what happened to me over the last year and it can be very frustrating
Holly nearly passes out when a child gets vaporized
um guys, I think we need to stop waiting for ‘the right time’ and just start doing the things we want whenever because the right time’s never gonna come, and if we keep waiting it’s just gonna turn into an endless cycle
WHO SAID THAT?

THE ENTIRE WEST IS BEING PUT UP FOR SALE AND I AM BEGGING YOU TO CALL YOUR SENATORS
Trump’s budget bill has many, many things in it, but buried amongst it is the MILLIONS OF ACRES OF PUBLIC LAND FOR SALE.
This is the entirety of the Arizona state forests, the entire Cascades mountain range. Swathes of pristine desert around the national parks in Utah. On the doorstep of Jackson Hole.
THIS BILL IS BIG, BUT IT CAN BE AMENDED AND ABSOLUTELY MUST NOT PASS AS IS please.
If you have ever enjoyed the wilderness, we stand to lose it all forever.
CALLING your senators - NOT JUST IN THE WEST. ALL SENATORS, is CRUCIAL.
Outdoor alliance has a great resource for reaching out.
The Senate’s spending package could offer up nearly 300 million acres of public lands for sale—a vast area that includes nearly 100,000 mile
I don’t have a huge following but please, everywhere I have ever loved, the forests I grew up playing in, the land I got married on, is all at risk and I am begging.
