Justice For Monica Goods

11 year old Monica Goods was killed when state trooper Christopher Baldner rammed her father’s vehicle, causing it to flip several times. Baldner has been charged with murder and is currently being held without bail. Evidence shows the trooper was involved in two similar incidents in which he rammed cars from behind while on duty.  (Kingston, NY)

Thank you for reblogging this, I forgot to add a warning for anyone who doesn't know: cancelling your TV licence will cause them to harrass and threaten you for the rest of your life and they will follow wherever you go. Their letters are very intimidating and made to sound like you are breaking the law and they know it so let me clear things up:

I have never had a TV licence and you are not obligated to have a TV licence even if you have a TV. You only need a TV licence to be allowed to watch BBC programmes (broadcast or on demand). Nobody can tell if you are watching BBC programmes without you allowing them into your house or admitting to it. You do not have to allow anybody in your house no matter what they threaten. No, TV licensing are not driving around in little sci-fi vans scanning for what programmes you have on. TV licensing have no legal power over you and they cannot do anything to you.

Also take note that the letters you receive have no information on who you are or who your local authorities are. Do not communicate with them and do not give them any info, if that's not obvious. If anyone comes to your door asking weird questions about whether or not you have a TV and what you watch, tell them you'll call the police if you see them in the area again.

for the people who are confused why you have to pay for the bbc license fee: it goes to pay for the bbc and in return we are supposed to get a balanced and neutral public broadcaster.

No. the phrase means that you trust each other and know each other well enough to tease one another while knowing exactly what the other person’s boundaries are.

it’s incredible how many anime fans engage with tons of japanese media but don’t know enough about japanese fascism to notice really obvious examples of it.

i typically dislike podcasts, leftist podcasts in particular, because most of them are very watered-down and just want to turn socialism into a brand. but i highly recommend the podcast against japanism. its tagline “destabilizing japanese history from the left” is exactly what it does, and it’s very good. for anime fans i especially recommend this episode and if you have at least a basic understanding of dialectical materialism then i highly recommend the two episodes on the antifascist philosophy of tosaka jun.

On top of the og post, people (especially white people) will see a character of color display the same traits as a white character yet will villanize said character for it instead. And a thing I notice too is that if it is humanizations of non human characters, more often than not people will make the character with more violent traits a person of color while those they view as “soft pure and innocent” are white. I will smash you with a rock for this too you need to think long and hard about how and why you define these traits a certain way and who you associate them with. It is not only ableist but racist as well

The words asexual, aromantic, and aroace, do not belong solely to those on one end of the spectrum. Demi, cupio, grey, lith, quoi, and all other aspecs are just as welcome under these words.

I saw a post that claimed only those without any form of romantic or sexual attraction could call themselves "gay/bi/etc. aroace" and that those on the spectrums somewhere have to use something else. Frankly, it's beyond ridiculous and aphobic to say so. Those on the spectrums are just as allowed to use the words that have always been granted to them within the community.

Do not let anyone tell you that the community you're in doesn't belong to you, or that you're less welcome here.

And like, he wasn’t just a Nazi, he was a Nazi whose specific job was evaluating autistic kids to decide if they should be murdered or not. The difference between asperger’s and autism is just the arbitrary criteria he had for which children lived and which ones died.

You can’t ‘reclaim’ the term Asperger’s, because the whole fucking point of the term is to say some people with a certain handful of symptoms shouldn’t be lumped in with the rest of us autistic people, because they’re fundamentally better for having that specific set of symptoms. It’s a term that prioritizes stepping on your own community to cater to neurotypicals (and yknow fucking nazis in case anyone forgot that part). There’s no reclaiming that can happen here; if someone says they have Asperger’s, I feel very unsafe around them, because I’m rightfully afraid they’re going to look down on me for being autistic.

Stop using Asperger’s. There’s no excuse.
