predictions for the inevitable coronavirus biopic:

it’s called PANDEMIC or CORONA or something in all caps

the opening scene is set in wuhan only they make it look really worn down and gross bc Foreign Nation

it stars the united states government and a random white man who contracts the virus and then has to quarantine apart from his family

either that or it’s some military dude who comes home from being stationed in wuhan for whatever reason

there’s an ed sheeran song in it

the celebrities singing imagine by john lennon is a scene in the movie and it’s portrayed as a heartrending moment of solidarity

the US government is portrayed handling the virus WAY better than they actually are

china is portrayed as the evil communist villains who didn’t stop the virus from spreading

I’m so tired of westerners thinking China just fucking arrests ppl whenever they do anything. The doctor was never arrested. The doctor was rewarded for whistleblowing and they punished the local official that bungled the response. This accusation of jailing the whistleblower, coming from a country that literally jailed a trans woman whistleblower for blowing the whistle on American military shooting at civilians and journalists, is just pure fucking projection.

There are legitimate issues to talk about with Xi’s China. There were legitimate issues to talk about with Mao’s China, but Westerners always go for the Red Scare/Yellow Peril talking points and never actually look at the material reality.

Some lady made me put all of her items back in her cart when she saw that I wasn’t wearing gloves…and then she went to the person behind me…and the thing is that I would be wearing gloves to protect myself from her!! Also my workplace doesn’t provide it’s employees with gloves during this situation, and I’d have to buy my own and wear them which I would if we had any to even buy lol. And my coworkers who were wearing gloves only had them because one cashier shared the rest of the gloves she brought.. Also, I had already touched her shit???

if you haven’t heard what disney just did to their college program cast members, including the ones who came from other countries, do me a favor and learn about it, talk about it, share it, spread it, i need this to be known. i need this to not go away. they need to face consequences for what they just did to THOUSANDS of employees (most of which are under the age of 25) with such a short notice. please dont let them hide what they just did.

here’s someone on twitter explaining it in better words than i can handle right now.

they laid off thousands on saturday, told them to get out of their housing in less than four days, told the ICPs (international college program) employees they need to be out in less than 4 days despite them being in another country on their own during travel bans no longer allowing them to fly home with their work visas no longer extended since they no longer work for the company, they told them that this is for their safety but they dont care that they just threw THOUSANDS of young adults into homelessness during a pandemic. and then they dropped Frozen 2 on disney+ because they needed to cover it. dont let them get away with that.
