As night falls, I wrap myself around you tightly. I will not let the stars gaze upon your skin. I will not let the moon call your name. You might just spill yourself into the void.

As night falls, I wrap myself around you tightly. I will not let the stars gaze upon your skin. I will not let the moon call your name. You might just spill yourself into the void.
You descent quietly, like doves from grey skies. I barely feel the rope, masked by your embrace. I could hardly tell your kiss from soft dreams. As I sleep soundly, in my bed among the gallows.
You sit at my table, but spurn the meal. I knew your palate to be discerning. I knew your hunger to be refined. So I serve myself, on golden platters.
Beneath your breast, the winds howl wildly. My head to your heart, I listen for thunder. Fearful, I count the seconds between crashes. The storm closes, but your eyes hold no shelter.
Sweeter berries grow in deeper thickets, I say. As the shadows of the vines draw closer. Would that they were not poison, I think. As I pluck your heart from between the thorns.
Gently, you guide me to your abattoir. With quick hands, you separate me from myself. With a kiss, you cut off my lingering questions. It is not for the meat, to know the butcher.
Wherever you go, this marsh will follow. Each step weaving your tears into the dust. The ground turns soft, your heart grows hard. Until this swamp of sorrows swallows the world.
We do not have time, but time has us. It digs its claws into every day, every moment. It feasts on the hours spent in sweet embrace. Slowly, tenderly it kills, the only one I love.
I arrive at the cave, but find no hoard. What good is gold, in an empty world? Was the treasure not within you, all along? The dragon asks, as it devours me.
I fear your love, like I fear the ocean. Every kiss like salt, filling my lungs. Every word a hook, dragging me below. Into the dark, to your leviathan heart.
Your smile, all teeth. Your embrace, all claw. With delight, you set yourself loose on me. Our hearts quicken, drumming a cruel beat. I now know, we were never meant to be lovers.
I dreamt of an ocean, trapped in your head. Of waves gently lapping, trying to break free. Do I still hear them crashing, against the bone? If I break it open, will the sea take me away?
I always dreamt of being closer to you. Had I just known it would be so simple. You'll never know what this means to me. This gift: so thoughtful, so full of heart.
With your head in the sky, you tell me the future. Like yourself, you paint it pretty and foreboding. I look at you and wonder, will you be there too. But your heart is only a glimmer in the distance.
There are no nightmares in hell. No reprieve from perception. There is no rest for the wicked. Only infinite, cruel exhaustion.
I do not want this soft caress. I abhor these gentle kisses. I long for tooth and claw and violence. Pour your love into me, savagely.
Tread lightly amongst willows and elms. Do not step on the fresh dirt, or cross the veve. Do not catch her eye, or ruffle her feathers. Or the next grave to guard might be yours
