Autistic social anxiety is not "social anxiety" in the typical sense. An anxiety disorder is defined as an "irrational fear". So for example, imagine someone who is afraid to speak in case everyone looks at them and goes "what the heck are you saying you wierdo." If that person is neurotypical, then the chances are that they're very unlikely to get that response. Therefore their fears are irrational, and that is true "social anxiety". If you put an autistic person in that scenario, on the other hand, then probably the reason they're afraid of that response is because they've received it many times before. They're fear is based on repeated past experiences, therefore it is not irrational and not the simply an anxiety disorder. That's why people giving the classic social anxiety responses to autistic people is so unhelpful. "Just go out there and talk to people, it'll be fine," or "keep pushing yourself out of your comfort zone and you'll get more confident," don't work if the problem is real and not just in your head.

Random misc info abt this (a lot of rambling that takes up over half the post) ↓

Im using the dreamcast models because I wanted higher-def models to match gordon but still wanted them to stick relatively close to the original artstyle

The gordon model is called something like "Promo art accurate Gordon Freeman Model" on the gmod workshop it's really really good and I hope more models like it get made in the future

Also I LOVE how the original art looks. Clearly there were liberties and changes made to the design, which I do like very much. Like the various Black Mesa brandings on the suit, the more prominent accordion joints, the glove being scrunched at the wrist, the AMMO POUCHES which i almost never see anyone draw Gordon with pouches or holsters. I love art with bare Gordon but when people draw him with ammo and holsters it gives my brain a tingle. Also idk if this is just me but the HEV MK4 with gear and weapons on it looks better than the MK5 with gear and weapons. Also I've noticed that people tend to depict Gordon Freemind with holsters, pouches, ammo belts, and all that stuff more than regular Gordon. I think that's because he mentions having an ammo belt one time

Ps: I really hope someone makes viewmodel accurate props of the HL1 guns. There are a ton of mods that do that for the HL2 guns but weirdly I haven't found any for the HL1 weapons. Closest I can get is using the regular HL:S world models, the HD pack world models, or the view models which restrict me to only a few camera angles

fit check! i was sick of having to look up references for what clothes grace has on the mary/erid so i compiled them as best i could.

some notes: 1) i couldn't find a white long sleeve that looked the same, but it's such a simple thing i didn't feel it was that important. 2) there's a logo on his shorts but i couldn't figure out what it was, i'd guess a nasa one. 3a) i couldn't find the same bucket hat, but there's the logo. 3b) i couldn't find that tie dye shirt to save my life. 4) the jumpsuits are exactly the same except color and i could only find the full ref for white. 5) couldn't find either ilyukhina's dress or his track suit. again, the track suit is easy so no ref needed.

obviously this is just what we can be 100% certain he has, who knows what else yao and ilyukhina had packed. honestly, i would also assume he has everything he had while on the stratt vat and in baikonur since they probably just loaded all his belongings when he was shipped off.

It was a huge milestone of scientific and technological advancement. (Plus, at the time, politically significant). Humanity went to space! We set foot on a celestial body that was not earth for the first time in human history! That’s a big deal! I’ve never thought about it before but now that I have, it’s ridiculous to me that that’s not part of our everyday lives and the public consciousness anymore. Why don’t we have a public holiday and a family barbecue about it. Why have I never seen the original broadcast of the moon landing? It should be all over the news every year!
