Some of you may remember this entry that I posted back in early Feb about a woman who was coming back from Boston that was on my flight whom I consoled about the suicide of her boyfriend. Little did I know that this woman (Kelly was her name) had told her mother, and she felt the need to write the company. It reads as follows:
"This past weekend, my daughter and her boyfriend were in Boston. At around 1pm on Sunday, she found out he took his own life. She needed to get back home to her family at the gate. Dylan could see that she was distraught and my niece who walked her to the gate and stayed with her told him there was a family death. Dylan took her onto the plane first and made Brandon, the lead attendant aware of her situation. Brandon was so very kind and had her move up to the front row where he could keep an eye on her. He talked to her and tried to keep her calm. He told her that she didn't have to tell him anything, but he was there if she wanted to talk. She broke down and told him the story and he sat and held her and let her cry on his shoulder. As a parent, you never want to see your child suffer like this, but knowing she was not alone on that flight made us feel better. We were so worried about her traveling alone, and it was like this angel was put on that plane to help her. He shared many stories about finding love a second time and reassured her she was going to be okay."
This note gives me chills every time I read it. I mean, who CAN you consult on a plane 38,000 feet in the air? You're on an aircraft full of complete strangers and everyone has their own agendas on what they're doing and where they're going. I suppose that's the reason why showing the aircraft that you DON'T like your job is such a horrible idea. If you're in a shitty mood in my position, how are you going to save the lives of those that may need you in the event of an emergency? They don't mix well and never will.
