I’ve been saying this forever in Japanese-speaking spaces but if a political group you hate is trying to claim something well-known as a symbol try your best not to let them. Calling them “the [color] party” or referring to them using an emoji or something like that is easier if you think they’re disgusting, but don’t help them claim the color and the emoji as theirs, for example. Because a symbol is powerful, and it’s hard to get back something when it’s claimed by someone else. I mean I was a Germaboo and I’m from an ex-Axis country so I know what happens when a dangerous group has a convenient symbol. Like there’s at least one queer American person who can no longer wear their favorite red cap they got before 2015. Don’t give another red cap to a group you hate. Do you know what I mean

awareness of "the abused can become the abuser" is useless without the knowledge that abuse is a choice anyone makes that is made for self-benefit. recently I watched an interview on the psychology of domestic abuse and the woman who interviewed those who inflicted the abuse always made sure to ask "why didn't you take it further?" because the answer would always show the abuser hadn't simply lost control. for example one man said he pushed over his girlfriend but didn't kick her once she was down because he didn't want any noticeable bruising that caused suspicion. human psychology is much less poetic than you think. too many psychology enjoyers only enjoy the poetic

For all its faults Tumblr has truly ruined all other social media for me because my friends all have Instagram and are all trying to get me on Instagram more but every time I open Instagram there are like fifteen things screaming for my attention and when I get over myself long enough to start scrolling it's like. Where is my chronological dash. Where is the following-only option. Who are these people. Why are there so many videos. Everyone is screaming at me. And then before I know it I'm thirty minutes into scrolling and I haven't seen a single thing that I actually care about.
