VENT POST
i'm seeing a lot of people posting their discord handle and i can't overstate how much i don't like that alternative. and i'm saying that as someone who's been burned by tumblr before (more than once, actually). there's a reason i still came back here. i know we call this the mutual website but i don't want to draw, write, teorize, talk to just twenty people. i like that total strangers can interact with the things i do--i like that i can interact with things from total strangers! i don't want to gatekeep things. that's why we're all on a blogging platform and not in a message app.
I’ve had tumblr for 4 years but some of you bitches have had it for a decade. It’s time to seek penance
wait I’m curious now . Reblog this with how long u’ve been on tumblr for. Dating back to ur oldest blog ever !!!
Reblogs in a chain now get their own notes
The reblog chain is one of the things that makes Tumblr unlike anywhere else. All the notes on reblogs are attributed to the original post, no matter which branch people actually liked or reblogged. We want to keep encouraging conversations, and give contributors the recognition they deserve.
Soon, you'll be able to like, reblog, or reply to any part of a reblog chain, and that note will go to that reblog's author. Each reblog will have its own counts, instead of one aggregated number from every version of the post. And yes, you’ll be able to like multiple posts in one chain.
If a reblog doesn't add anything, the love flows up to the last person in the chain who did. Your post doesn't lose notes just because people spread it quietly.
Past notes will stay on the original post — we're only changing what happens from here on out. Retroactively re-attributing all of them would be... a lot.
This is just the beginning. More changes are coming as we keep building this out – stay tuned!
It’s very clear that you all have strong feelings about Tumblr and about this change. We hear you. The passion people have for how Tumblr works is one of the things that makes this place special.
As this rolls out over the next few days and you explore it, we’ll keep reading your replies and reblogs, so please keep sharing your questions, concerns, and ideas.
Your creativity has always been the heart of Tumblr, whether you’re the original poster or adding something brilliant in the reblogs, and nothing about this change is meant to limit that.
If you’d like to talk directly beyond the comments, leave a reply and we’ll follow up with as many of you as we can. We want to work with you to make Tumblr better.
hey folks do we like this. reblog without commentary for reach
do we want this?
yes
no

This is horrible I can't see the number of notes on my posts at all without adding up everything in the chain
Cursed cursed cursed evil evil evil
This is a terrible idea. Horrible.
EXTREMELY BAD HOLY FUCK.
This would kill the entire point of the reblog chain. Staff, please, don't do this. It will transform the reblog chain in just plain twitter quotes.
Seriously, this is a tumblr-killer feature. This breaks the most fundamental way tumblr is different from any other social network. This makes tumblr just another blueskytwitterthreads. Or worse: An unfederated mastodon clone.
Please, stop this. Please, don't roll this out.
Please, mutuals, post about this, comment and reblog the original post (while you still can without making it your own quote-post). I don't know if staff is looking or if the feedback would matter, but seriously, this is a terrible change that would kill tumblr as we know it. Please, don't roll it out.
reblog this and also send feedback via support: https://www.tumblr.com/support
Highly recommend: making friends on the Internet and traveling internationally to see them — only to have them throw you a surprise birthday party and get you an Official Milph* cake 🥹 Thank you to @ahappydnp @cityofphanchester @everyonesupset @pinsupansu for making my trip feel so so special 💞💞💞
*Mutual I Love to Phannie-out-with, I have been told
Please, never let this meme die.
This is the best one I’ve seen so far
What kind of quantum fucking memeing from 2056 are you people beaming to us
It’s fucking back
shooting star. i can’t believe i’m hearing shooting star again in the year 2020
The fates have ordained that this cross my timeline again and you better fucking believe i’m reblogging it.
This is the only good meme, don’t @ me
again i REALLY encourage everyone to go to settings and turn on the setting that puts timestamps on posts (and reblogs!) in dashboard view right under the url of the person posting/reblogging. it’s massively useful for seeing when a post that frames a piece of news as current and immediate is actually a few years old or when a fundraiser is long out of date or stuff like that, and i think the quality of general knowledge on this site would be improved if everyone used it. also it’s just fun being able to see when a popular post was made, at this point i’m so used to having that information i’d feel like a caveman without it
Nothing ever ends poetically. It ends & we turn it into poetry. All that blood was never once beautiful. It was just red.
Take all my money
... SHIT HE'S RIGHT
This is even really in keeping with the book, which if you've read it, is an 'abridged version' of an old book that was read to him, except the person who read it to him edited it as they went so when he grew up and gave the book to his son he found out that there were huge chunks of the original story taken out or glossed over or tweaked a little. Such as Chapter Two being a brain rottingly long and boring talk about politics and geography or something like that. A remake of the Princess Bride wouldn't just be a new child imagining what is being read to them, but a new grandparent making edits as they go along to give the kid the best bedtime story. Maybe this grandparent will leave in the background about Inigo's father and his training. Or will expand on how Buttercup became a princess despite being a farmgirl. They could focus more on Buttercup realising she's in love with Wesley and actually talking to him about it. This new child could learn about Humperdink's family life and how his Evil Stepmother is actually perfectly lovely he just decided as a child that since all stepmothers in fairytales are evil, his must be as well. So. Much. Potential!
discovered this 2018 tweet from tamsyn muir and I don’t know what to do with this information
I now want to read these novels for the first time.
everyone: writing fanfiction is a great way to explore your various sexual fantasies
me, through clenched teeth: what if they lived in a TINY house and took NAPS all the time
I truly had no idea this would pick up so much traction but i’m glad to know we’re all in the same boat of living out unrealistic fantasy scenarios re: intimacy and home ownership
me, sobbing: And they had game night with friends and everyone took turns hosting and everyone was okay.
omg everyone was okay
poor little meow meow (plural)
running up the hill to make a deal with god again. anyone need anything
Imagine the amount of rage j.d. salinger would feel if you wrote a sequel to his Important Big Boy Book in which Holden calls something "hella poggers"
"kissing my boyfriend and girlfriend at the same time is hella poggers" --Holden Caulfield, after killing a vampire in Catcher in the Rye 2: Blood Moon
“You either die a Catcher, or live long enough to get Caught”
lil nose ring? Yikes lol

some people dream of having big houses or stacks of cash or supermodel wives or whatever. i dream of having an office that is not located across the hall from a fucking bathroom.
Oh my god me too, the only thing I wished for before turning up at my new job today.
