Torchbearers is a webcomic about a team of super-powered teenage heroes.  It is created by Chris Caron (@christthenerd92 on twitter) and myself.

Issue 1 of the Torchbearers is complete

Hey guys, if you’re not aware I’m the artist of a neat little webcomic called The Torchbearers at http://torchbearerscomic.wordpress.com.  It’s been a long road but after 1.5 years and various setbacks we’ve finally wrapped up issue 1.  It’s the story of Byron Clayton AKA Squire, the sidekick of one of the most popular heroes in the metropolis of Deeplight City. While super powers are common in this world, Byron fights bravely despite having none.  Unfortunately, he feels under appreciated in the shadow of his larger-than-life mentor and father-figure Highborne.  To prove himself, Byron tries to take on Highborne’s arch-nemesis, the Superior Sovereign, alone on his 17th birthday. From there begins Byron’s journey that will eventually see him forming a team of younger heroes to defend Deeplight City from dangers they would never imagine.

Issue 2 is set to introduce a lot of fun new characters, including the second member of the team.

While I plan to go back and fix some of the art on this issue that I’m unhappy with, you can totally read, follow, and enjoy the first issue.  And hey, it’s interesting to see how far I’ve advanced as an artist over that short time. I’m really proud of what me and writer Chris have accomplished so far, and I’m super excited for the future of the comic as well. We have a lot of cool things planned!

Unfortunately, with my schedule it seems that putting out a full-color comic on a regular schedule is just not possible at this time.  As a result, further issues will be in a black-and-white manga style.  Each issue will open with a few color pages though! As much as I would love to continue in full color, it is just not possible with my personal schedule and the schedule we would like to have for the comic.  Consider issue 1 a special, full color treat.
