Collins is gone.
Namaygoosisagagun First Nation/Collins has burned to the ground. The entire community is nothing but ashes after being quickly consumed by wildfires. They did not have any support from emergency services, and no one offered aid. The community saved themselves by escaping into boats because no one came.
Mishkeegogamang and Cat Lake have lost power. Families are ending up in shelters with nothing. Armstrong, Lac La Croix, Whitesand, Gull Bay, Lac des Mille Lacs are currently in the fires path and all members are being evacuated.
All this loss, all this devastation, and it was entirely preventable.
After steadily underfunding wildland firefighting and purposefully excluding Indigenous wildland firefighters and Indigenous wildfire organizations from wildfire operations, firefighter training, decisionmaking, and resource exchanges, in 2025, Doug Ford slashed the forest firefighting budget.
It's hard to ignore his decision to cut funding and leave us out of adequate fire training (even though we've lived with forest fires for thousands of years—far longer than settlers have been in Canada—and made sure fires like the ones we're all seeing today were prevented through kinisitotēn) when, despite making up less than 5% of the population, we account for 42% percent of all wildfire evacuations in Canada.
And when we are successfully evacuated, we face discrimination and racism—like Kashechewan—because it's always been easier to blame us than it is to blame the true culprit: denialism, corportate greed, and colonization.
The people of Collins and every other impacted community deserve better.
Right now, the AFN is currently accepting donations to help Collins First Nation. If you're able to, please consider donating.
ONWA (Ontario Native Women's Association) is another great place to donate to. They have outreach vans going to motels and inns and offering food, water, resources, and cultural support to those impacted by the wildfires.
Other places to consider donating to are Mikinakoos Emergency Fund, Red Cross, True North Aid, Indigenous Climate Action. You can also send donations directly to Whitesand First Nation via e-transfer ([email protected]) and they request that you add your full name in the e-transfer comment section to receive a tax receipt.
*Before sending money, verify that the appeal appears on an official First Nation, Tribal Council or registered charity channel.
If you can't offer financial support, please consider donating items of need. Moontime Connections is currently accepting drop-off donations. If you live in the Thunder Bay area, Namaygoosisagagun Health Office is also taking in donations! They can also bemailed to Superior Inn Hotel & Conference Centre at 555 West Arthur Street, Thunder Bay, ON, P7E 5P8.
items needed are: food, diapers, medical masks, men’s and women’s joggers (all sizes), children’s clothing (newborn to size 14), children’s shoes, summer clothing, men’s clothing, toiletries (lotion, Vaseline, toothpaste, toothbrushes, shampoo, conditioner, soap, deodorant, etc.), strollers, adult depends-all sizes, dog & cat food

spill for me, Muse, the wine-dark tea on a problematic man
HEY
HEY PEOPLE'S NAMES MATTER TO THEM
LEARN TO PRONOUNCE THEM CORRECTLY
IF IT'S HARD, SUCK IT UP AND FIGURE IT OUT
AND IF YOU HAVE ONE OF THOSE NAMES
GO AHEAD AND CORRECT PEOPLE
AND IF ANYONE TRIES TO TELL YOU THAT CORRECTING PEOPLE ABOUT HOW TO PRONOUNCE YOUR NAME IS PETTY OR ANNOYING OR ANYTHING
TELL THEM THAT BEING CALLED BY THE WRONG NAME IS EVEN MORE ANNOYING
Here endeth the rant lesson
4yo: Let's watch Tarzan!
Me, pms-ing but not expecting to cry today: Yeah!
Tarzan: *begins the way it does*
Me: fuck shit fuck why did I agree to this
Poirot is so relatable for making Hastings his best friend.
That boy is such a puppy man. Golden Retriever of all time, infatuated with every one he meets, critical thinking skills of a wet sponge, never stays sad longer than a day. Give him a task and a compliment and he'll follow you forever.
Poirot brings him along as his emotional support friend. 10/10 friendship, would do the same.
Just watched a David Attenborough documentary and I thought what if the narrator of a nature documentary just insulted you the whole time. Like. Just imagine Greg Davies:
"This hedgehog will travel two miles a night in order to find a mate. Unlike you, you fucking loser. Get off Tinder you dickhead."
"Worms are hermaphrodites. Bet you didn’t know that you idiot. Read a book."
"The humpback whale travels 5000 miles to find food. Meanwhile fat bastards like you just walk 2 metres to the fridge."
Lol you know that series Round Planet that's just Matt Lucas' satirical voiceover of Planet Earth?
That, but this.
Not sure why 90% of my dash is animals this morning as opposed to the usual 50-60% but I'm not complaining
Oh my God I miss Stefon sooooo much
they should have made another search engine called Ask Wooster where it gives you the wrong answer every time
One thing I love about Lily Mayne is how deftly she conveys so many diverse internal voices and types of minds.
So I'd love if people reblogged this with the name of the character whose POV they related most to! I'm so curious.
It's Wyn for me.
Truth in Advertising but like... not for ethical reasons. I mean, obviously the ethical reasons matter, but also because it drives me a bit mad to process something that I know to be false. If every media source is going to force-feed me advertisements, at least don't let them make my brain itch.
This is a romantic music cue. Antis can argue with the wall
Yup. The subtext of this movie was barely sub the text. It was poking its nostrils and eyes up above the surface of the text like... a subtext crocodile.
I'm pretty sure Lily Mayne is responsible for >90% of the times I laughed in the last month since I discovered her work.
I think that I think of Lily Mayne far too often. Like. Idk. Am I in love? Am I in awe? Is she my God? I don’t know. But I am always wondering what the biggest genius of our generation is doing and I hope she’s tucked up cozy in a blanket with a cuppa and she knows how much she’s loved and she knows how amazing her work is.
All right, listen. Hear me out.
I don't typically enjoy pregnancy as a plot device or a source of drama.
But I ADORE irony. I love it. It's so funny to me, even when it's not necessarily supposed to be.
So when Moth told Charlie, "I'm pretty sure I can't get pregnant. In case you were worried about that." -
- my immediate thought was, "That's the funniest thing that can happen now."
