Reblog if you are a mentally ill witch. Letās see how many of us are out there!
why do so many men speak to you like theyāre giving a ted talk
I need a frame of reference here
go and find the nearest man whoās read one book and talk to him
Hey OP, try actually talking to men and youād find that youāre very wrong.
Nah OP is spot on. Dudes are pretty good at acting like theyāre the only ones that know anything and gotta reflect that in any stupid casual conversation they can cram it into.
Idk how you could assume OP never talked to men cause they literally fucking never stop talking over us. Itās physically impossible not to talk to them, they make it mandatory.
Itās amazing that youāve talked only to mabye two men in your life to have that small of a sample group that you think thatās the norm.
Buddy I wish I was blessed to have only spoken to 2 men in my life. Unfortunately lifeās a curse and theyāre literally everywhere giving unsolicited ted talks.
Yeah, no, just take your sexism and leave.
Iām amazed how easily your feelings are hurt about Ted talks.
Generally speaking, men talk toĀ āteachā and women talk toĀ āshareāĀ
Korean Resources Masterpost
Merry Christmas @tollpehely ! This is my present to you! I hope you have an amazing Christmas and New Year. Korean is a language I have enjoyed learning so I really do hope these resources are of good use to you.
A difficult aspect in learning a language is finding resources. Thankfully with Korean there are plenty. More than plenty actually. Personally, I use various resources just because some explain a certain grammar point better or sometimes I need to complement with other ones. I decided to make a list of my favorite resources and where to find them.
Note: The star is for something I highly recommend.
Grammar
ā How to study Korean - This website is great for really understanding the grammar. For some itās too much but I like how detailed it is.
ā Ā Go! Billy Korean - I like how simple his explanations are in contrast to How to study Korean.Ā You can find his pdfs and lessons hereĀ or click here to download most of them up till lesson 91.
ā Korean Grammar in Use - One of my favorites just because it helps a lot when learning HOW to use the grammar. How to study Korean is great for understanding the grammar, but Korean Grammar in Use goes into detail. For example the conjugation charts are really helpful. I have the pdfs from Beginner to Advanced with the audio and answer keys.
Vocabulary
ā Memrise: TTMIK: The Korean Verbs Vol. 1 - A course with practice sentences for the most common verbs. You can also just use this as a guide for which verbs you should learn first.
ā Ā Memrise: TTMIK: The Korean Verbs Vol.Ā 2 - More useful verbs.
TTMIK: Word Showdown - This small pdf explains the differences between commonly used words. I recommend it.
TTMIK: Korean Slang Expressions Volume 1 - Like the name states, Talk to me in Korean shows useful slang expressions through a brief explanation, examples and sample Dialogue.
TTMIK: Korean Slang Expressions Volume 2Ā Ā
TTMIK: Everyday Korean Idiomatic ExpressionsĀ Ā Ā
Listening Practice
Some popular Korean shows to practice.
The UnitĀ -Ā Ā Ex-idols who never got to shine, and current idols who want to make a name for themselves perform on stage to prove their worth. They will perform in front of Rain, Hwang Chi Yeul, Hyun A, Tae Min, San E, and Jo Hyun Ah. Will the young artists be able to impress the judges?
MasterKey -Ā Koreaās hottest celebrities come together for an exciting game show where they must use their sixth sense to find the one whoās lying and hiding the āmaster keyā! Can they find the liar?
ā Ā Exo Showtime -Ā A South Korean documentary starring the boy group Exo that allows the fans to see behind-the-scenes of Exoās daily lives and how they act offstage. Itās one of my favorites and always will be.Ā
The Return of Superman -Ā Fathers may not be perfect.. but thatās alright if they arenāt perfect! Thereās nothing like a fatherās love to boost our spirits. The dads who used to spend all their time working have returned home on āThe Return of Supermanā.
Fast Drama - I wonāt recommend a specific drama since there are too many and everybody has their own taste. I did recommend variety shows because those are aimed towards a wider audience. Instead, I recommend this website where you can watch dramas. Note: You can use other websites for watching kdramas. Not this just one.
Reading PracticeĀ
Learning Korean with Humans of SeoulĀ -Ā They break down the phrases, grammar points and words from the Facebook page āHumans of Seoulā. Really useful.
Humans of Seoul - Here you can find interesting Korean stories in Korean and English.Ā
Conjugation
Dongsa - I canāt even express how useful this website is. You can look up a verb to see its conjugations or look up a conjugated verb to see itsĀ ādictionaryā form.
ā Tengugo -Ā I learned hangul mainly from here and really recommend it. They have mini lessons, audios of how to pronounce each character and quizzes. It works without wifi so you can practice anywhere.
Apps
Lingodeer - I recommend this over Duolingo all the way. You can findĀ Studiousbeesās review on it here. I love this app and itās a good way to get used to the basics, like Korean sentence structure which is different from a lot of languages.
Blog
Blogs are super useful for when you donāt understand a grammar point. I only recommended one blog since I prefer learning from grammar books and resources that come straight from native speakers, but their blog is seriously amazing.
Studiousbees - I love their Korean grammar lessons. If youāre advanced, you can also find their Korean News posts here, to practice reading and vocabulary. @studiousbeesĀ

The Magick of Booze: A Correspondence Table
This is my own personal correspondence table for the use of alcohol in magick. It may not match your own usage of alcohol, but if you like anything you see, feel free to adopt it. Some of this is based in what the alcohol is made from, some on its history, and some of this is based in personal experience or associations. This is not about alcohol as an offering, but the usage of it as a spell component. The list is in no way exhaustive and does not include mixed drinks or brands. Just your basics.
Distilled Spirits
Absinthe: (Air) Useful in protection work. It is especially useful for safe astral travel. Using it to draw sigils for safe travels on oneās body before leaving it can keep away nasties in the meantime.
Gin: (Earth) Useful in spells promoting good health and is good as a binding ingredient for other alcoholsā properties. It can also be a good to use if the caster of the spell lives in poverty and this is pertinent to the spell in some way.
Rum: (Water) Useful in money spells or spells for gaining other material possessions. Rum can be especially useful in a spell involving an underhanded motive or intention, especially if the results leave you with more as a side effect of the spellās main goal.
Tequila: (Fire) Tequila is all about timing. Perfect, exact timing. It can be used in spells involving punctuality, appointments, or decision making. It can be used when something has to be done just right, as well. Never use it for something involving the past or anything about the future. Tequila is always for the present, and in this moment, as they come issues.
Vodka: (Fire and Water) Good for strength and courage. Lifting yourself up by the bootstraps and carrying on with what needs to be done no matter how hard it is or how tired you are. Can be used in spells involving getting through difficult times, motivation, pushing forward, finishing projects. Shitās gotta get done? Vodka.
Whiskey: (Water) Whiskey can be used in spells to promote change, usually when change is unwanted by someone else. It helps bypass interference and bring the change about in ways that which opposes it does not immediately notice.
Brandy: (Earth) Brandy can be used in love spells, especially those for preserving pre-existing love. It can also be used for attracting a long-lasting love as opposed to a fling.
Fermented Beverages
Beer: (Earth) Beer is used in spells involving the home, family, and the past. It can also be used in spells involving practicality vs desire.
Cider: (Earth) Cider is used in spells for harvesting what youāve already planted. It helps ensure that the things youāre working towards are successful and your effort is not wasted. But you must put in the effort.
Wine: (Earth and Air) Wine can be used in spells for health, stress relief, and blessings. It can also be used for spells involving standing on your own and independence.
Mead: (Air) Mead can be used for spells involving inspiration, study, education, scholarly pursuits, the arts, and oratory issues. It can also be used to sweeten the temper of yourself or someone else.
Sangria: (Fire) Sangria is good for happiness spells, celebrations, and anything involving good times and fun. It is also good for spells meant to broaden horizons and promote new experiences.

I really like this one...
Dear Maggie. Do you have advice for those of us in the trenches desperately scooping words into a bucket that may have a hole in its side? Sometimes writing a novel -Such a Big. Thing.- feels useless and scary when you know there isn't a soul on this earth waiting to read it. There are no fans with unobtainable expectations or otherwise and I suppose I should find that freeing, but lately I just find it sad. How do you perform to an empty auditorium? How do you paint in a museum for the blind?
Dear trululu7,
Five things.
1. Never feel bad for wanting to create for an audience. Writing and storytelling can hold hands and play cheerfully in the sandbox together, but they are not the same thing. One exists for its own sake. The other is like a joke without a laugh; itās not finished until the audience is there. Nothing wrong with either of them, but itās important to know why you do it. I write for an audience. I am happier to write with a contract and deadline in place. I want to know Iāll be read. Itās not a grubby impulse.
2. The bucket does have a hole in the side. Youāre going to have to get used to scooping faster. Otherwise you as a human will change faster than your story gets completed, and your story will try to shift to accommodate this new person you are, and you will end up with something that is many things instead of one. Thatās not wrong, either, but the more things a book is to you, the harder it will be to both complete and edit.Ā
3. A rough draft of a YA novel or a slender adult genre novel is 60,000-80,000 words. Donāt think about that. Itās too big of a bucket. Think about how a scene/ chapter is 1200-2000 words. Think about how that is only 30-40 scenes. Take out a piece of paper. Write the 30 steps it will take to tell your story. Write them one at a time, or out of order, but remember that it is only 30 chunks, not 60,000 attack words coming to nibble you to pieces.Ā
4. Imagine what the book will be when itās done. What does it feel like. What does it do to people. What sort of cover does it have. What, what, what. Write that book.
5. Climb out of the trench. This is going to be fun, or you wouldnāt be doing it.
urs,
Stiefvater
I love the way she thinks...
