IT DOESN'T MATTER IF I WAS A KID I SHOULD'VE KNOWN BETTER!!!!!!!
in happier pride news i actually found this deeply heartwarming
that's solidarity baybeeee
Further context: Durham city council (Reform UK) cut funding and support for Pride. The Durham Miner's Association and other trade unions raised enough money for Durham Pride 2026 to go ahead - a direct call back to when Lesbian and Gays Support the Miners (LGSM) raised money for mining communities when Margaret Thatcher seized union funding during the miner strikes of 1984-85.
At the 1985 Labour party meet, the motion to support LGBT rights as a party was passed due to a block vote from mining unions.
Stephen Guy, the chair of the Durham Miners’ Association, said that when it became apparent Durham Pride was under threat, he took it upon himself to “encourage the trade union movement to step up and do the right thing, and stand shoulder to shoulder with the LGBT+ community […] They not only raised funds for us, but came to our communities, uplifted our spirits when they were down, and showed their solidarity.”
Thinking about a girl I grew up with who spun her dog's fur into yarn, then knitted gloves out of the yarn and how all the other kids made fun of her mercilessly for it.
And how she's now used those gloves for over thirty winters and each time she puts them on, she gets to pet her beloved dog's fur even though Ginger is long gone. And how even though her bones have long since been swallowed by the earth, Ginger is still protecting her owner from the cold.
Just an ancient pact, passed down from the earliest dogs that slept beside humans to keep us warm, continuing on for decades after one of their deaths.
I don't care if they're the highest grossing movies on planet freakin Earth, you say "Avatar" and everyone and their mom still thinks that bald little bitch and his magic cow. Soggy James can keep his millions, he'll never have the streets.
I love when data visualization stops being useful and instead becomes modern art.

can ANYONE do something about him. can someone PLEASE stop him. can we do anything at all about the lancelot situation.
Dahling you simply must read this book! It’s all about this devious little caterpillar who simply gorges himself on all manner of divine things
Not my posts but an interesting thought.
[image description: screengrab of a series of tweets from @ rootsworks: “When I was in college, part of our university’s graduation requirements had a community service component that they called service learning.
One of my service learning classes involved work at a local homeless community center, helping people write resumes and cleaning bathrooms.
Our instructor told us to expect to see the bathrooms trashed a lot–like you will clean the bathroom and immediately someone will wreck it.
And it’s not because they disrespect your work or don’t value having access to clean bathrooms or whatever, but because of control.
When you feel like you have no control over your life or your environment, your brain is going to want to assert control however it can.
Which results in trashed bathrooms. It’s control exercised over the one small part of your environment that you still have the power to affect.
I see kids on tumblr using the language of social justice as cudgels on people who actually do care about and listen to them
or holding the creators within their communities to an impossibly high standard that they never apply to mainstream media properties.
I just see trashed bathrooms. ‘These are the people my voice will reach,’ they rationalize, ‘so these are the people I’ll hurt.’
But the guiding principles of social justice are aimed at correcting and dismantling systems. Stop using them to dismantle people.”]

"Kill your local sex offender!" Oh, you mean the guy who went streaking at his local college football game on a dare one time? That's a sex crime.
"No, I mean-"
Oh, maybe the woman who had to pee in a public park that only had pay toilets, so she tried to hide behind the bushes but got caught? Public urination is a sex crime.
"What? No, I mean-"
Oh, maybe you mean the homeless guy who had to strip down to get his clothes in the laundromat to clean them for the first time in weeks? He tried being subtle, but someone called the cops on him, and now he's on the sex offender registry for public nudity.
"Rapists and pedophiles! Kill rapists and pedophiles!"
Oh, like the trans woman who got called a pedophile groomer for helping a trans kid escape her abusive parents?
Or maybe the black man who got labeled a rapist because he came on to another man's wife, and he decided to get back at him by charging him with rape?
How about the 17 year olds who were fooling around, fully consensually, in one of their bedrooms? That's still technically underage sex and thus rape of a minor.
Oh, or maybe you're talking about the doctor who performed genital reconstructive surgery in a state that just voted to get that classified as rape?
People will do everything they can to get you convinced rape and pedophilia are the worst crimes possible, then accuse whoever they like the least of being either a rapist, a pedophile, or both, counting on you turning on them just for being accused of the crime.
"Oh, so you're saying you don't want to kill a serial rapist?"
That's exactly what I'm goddamn saying.
Once we decide a group is okay to kill, the government will do everything they can to convince you that their political enemies are either part of that group, or just as bad as that group, to get you to kill their enemies for them.
The only way out is to accept every life as worth saving.
Kojima was insane for the Raiden bait and switch. Yeah the protagonist of the first game was a hyper masc military Chad but this time it's a white haired Twink with birthing hips. The world wasn't ready back then Mr. Kojima. We are ready now.
“Nonviolence declares that the American Indians could have fought off Columbus, George Washington, and all the other genocidal butchers with sit-ins; that Crazy Horse, by using violent resistance, became part of the cycle of violence, and as “as bad as” Custer. Nonviolence declares that Africans could have stopped the slave trade with hunger strikes and petitions, and that those who mutinied were as bad as their captors; that mutiny, a form of violence, led to more violence, and, thus, resistance led to more enslavement. Nonviolence refuses to recognize that it can only work for privileged people, who have a status protected by violence, as the perpetrators and beneficiaries of violent hierarchy.”
— Peter Gelderloos, How Nonviolence Protects the State (via shephilosophy)
guy who's really into the game of thrones tv show: i want to run a low-magic tabletop campaign with an emphasis on political intrigue and gritty realism. let's see, how should i go about doing this? let me peruse the available rulesets at my local game store.
haha, no, i will simply take ol' reliable dungeons and dragons 5th edition and remove the hundreds of pages of content that assume magic is easily accessible to the players, in favor of the rules for nonmagical martial combat, famously something 5E is good at!
this will go really well, i am sure.
Ahhhh sorry, I'd have the pikmin help you lift that, but they're going on their union mandated smoke break...
It takes them a little while to get back, but they do great work.
i assume you are kind of a loser
Well man this is tumblr
hamlet’s “i did love you once” and ophelia’s “indeed, my lord, you did make me believe so” is such an underrated gut punch. it’s betrayal it’s heartbreak it’s vulnerability it’s so over. truly no one is doing it like shakespeare
*coughs blood* youre all just jealous of my wound. yuore trying to make me get rid of it because you wish you had a wound this cool
