Problematic because: "Viren is a dark mage, which means that 9 times out of 10 he has to kill magical creatures to be able to use magic. He is stubborn, ruthless, and cruel. He has slaughtered innocent people in the name of his agenda to further/better the human race. He's manipulative and conniving, and believed that his way was the only right way to do something. He was quick to anger. He sent his own son to kill the children of the previous king because he thought they would be too weak to rule. He always showed favoritism to his daughter and was child to his son up until shortly before his death. He goes against the king's (who was also his friend) wishes and swaps his soul with a bird's. He partners with an evil elf to try and take down the kingdom of Zadia. I'm probably forgetting something tbh. Overall, he kinda reminds me of Macbeth. He wasn't a great dude until after some serious self reflection." Propaganda: "His character arc is really interesting to watch, as he often justifies his actions as being what's best for the kingdom of Katolis. He has a strong atonement arc towards the end of the series, and he's a great antagonist for the series. He has good qualities so he's not just a one off type of antag. He has good depth to him that makes him feel like more than just a bad guy."

vs. Hector Barbossa (Pirates of the Caribbean)

Problematic because: "his first major act in the series is betraying jack, leading a mutiny, stealing the black pearl, and marooning him on the same island he later dumps jack and elizabeth on. then his crew steals the cursed aztec gold, and when bootstrap bill turner objects to what they did and sends one coin away to his son, barbossa has him strapped to a cannon and thrown into the sea. unfortunately for barbossa, they later need turner blood to lift the curse, so he raids port royal, kidnaps elizabeth after she claims the turner name, and tries to use her blood in the ritual. he’s also just a deeply self-serving operator across the series. he helps when it benefits him, betrays when it benefits him, steals the pearl back from jack again after at world’s end, becomes a privateer under king george while secretly pursuing revenge against blackbeard, and later rules a pirate fleet as a wealthy pirate lord. he does get more heroic moments later, especially with carina, but “eventually sacrifices himself for his daughter” doesn’t erase the years of mutiny, kidnapping, murder, betrayal, and general pirate bastard behaviour before that." Propaganda: "barbossa is awful and i love him. mutineer, kidnapper, cursed skeleton captain, professional jack sparrow irritant, apple enthusiast, betrayal enjoyer. somehow both a complete bastard and one of the most satisfying redemption-ish arcs in the franchise."

Wattpad has always been very pro censorship and a lot of authors have had their works removed with no warning before, so this looks to me like same old rules just even more strict than before? And don’t get me started on the ads that have been flooding the site for years, unless you subscribe to an ad-free Wattpad premium where you won’t get ads as long as you pay, but your works will still get removed if it’s too spicy or taboo and someone reports it. This is why we love AO3

we really can’t overstate how damaging it has been to indoctrinate the public with the idea that if they let themselves eat as much as they want, they’ll eat too much. human bodies, when permitted over the long term to eat as much as they want, actually get really, really good at calibrating their hunger and satiety, and will over time eat exactly the right amount for themselves. the common conception of a balanced eater as a minimal or restrained eater is absolutely wrong. balanced eaters eat quite a lot (compared to diet cultural ideas about right intake amounts), and they do so consistently and permanently. healthy, balanced eating isn’t some tightrope walk, it’s a gigantic net of total permission to eat.

We don’t talk enough about how fanfiction writers love to give character large amounts of non-specific paperwork they hate doing

Yeah sure why not.

So most stories take place when Events are Happening, and this means that no matter what kind of job the characters have, they’re probably not too focused on them. Fanfics, on the other hand, often show the down time. Which means that the writer has to figure out what the hell these characters do in their jobs. Unless the characters have a job the author understands or knows well, the author is often at a loss for what to have the character doing.

So they sit them at a desk and give them paperwork. What is the paperwork for? Rarely specified. It is Paper Work for the characters Important Adult Job they have and they need to read or sign it or something. And there’s always a line about how Character Hates Paperwork. Doesn’t matter if Character is a Mafia Boss or a General or a Diplomat, here they are in an office trying to get out of Doing Paperwork.

There’s also a sense of, like, humor and mundanity that comes with it. Like the examples above, it always particularly stands out to me when a dangerous individual is griping about some paper they need to sign or something. The less you can picture Character doing paperwork, all the better to force it upon them. If Character is saddled with Paperwork, they’re usually now concerned about the physical damages their motley crew causes, because damage = More Paperwork.

Anyway I just think it’s fun or funny, Sephiroth doing paper work and Sawada Tsunayoshi doing paper work and this just in, Tony Stark is doing paperwork. Sorry, Phoenix Wright can’t play right now. Yeah, it’s paperwork.

Lawyer here. Here’s some more mundane/modern ones for you:

Invoices.

Intake sheets (information about new clients. The one for my firm is 13 pages and requires an hour long meeting. Then you have to do something with the info gathered)

Data entry for invoices and intake sheets.

Billing. (More involved than timesheets because you’re justifying to clients why you’re getting paid so much).

Form letters.

Taxes. Including 1099s for any contracted work.

Bank statements/accounting spreadsheets. Gotta track how expenses are trending.

Insurance documents.

General messages. Lots of office still use a paper system for missed calls and “important” stuff because it just works better than emails and chats for some people.

Memos. Big enough office to have at least one attorney on payroll? You’re getting memos about every legal question and concern and contract. It’s how we’re trained to communicate in formal settings.

And if you want to get into modern military, the forms are numbered, and people will refer to them by either their actual name, or the number. (Have you filled out the 4187 for this? Yes, I filled out the personnel action form.)

The requisition form and the it has been six months now get me the fucking thing or you’re gonna hear from Cindy escalations form.

Paperwork has layers and protocols and backups.

For law firms, there's also the 'I am asking nicely for you to send me this legally mandated document' and then the follow-up 'My please was a social nicety, I am no longer asking, I am telling you to send me this document or explain to a court why you refuse to do so' which, depending on the type of law, can fill a significant amount of the day

Also, you know that bit where someone comes up to the character and whampfs down a heavy load of paperwork for them to sort through? There is a good chance that's not paperwork for them to do, but paperwork for them to scrutinize. Especially after an Incident occurs, where the character may have to run through every single example of the paperwork mentioned above, plus email chains, plus call logs, plus interview transcripts, hunting for the one little half-line sentence, nestled so sweetly somewhere in that sky-scraping stack, where someone explicitly and trackably orders the fuck-up.

I like the idea of Ace Thunderspark, Space Adventurer or whatever, sitting down and looking at his desk, then calling soemoen up and going "Hey where's all my paperwork?"

They're like: "uh… what? You want to do som I250s?"

And Ace is all: "You know how stressful I250s are compared to the Xargons trying to feed me to the Slime worms of Og? Not at all. When I'm fist fighting in the gladiator pits of Targon, thinking about getting my Pilot GraphiGlide out and doing some nice, relaxing paperwork is what keeps me going. Where are my I250s?!"

Turns out he's seriously a bureaucrat, and all this space-adventure crap is mostly getting in the way of his enjoyment of the silky-smooth flow of a good gel ink pen on hard copy.

Okay, I need to know, in Parasite Evil AU, does Parasite Eve 2 still happen? I get the feeling the answer is no, just because Leon would have probably at least mentioned Eve Brea, but idk. Also, when in the RE timeline does this take place?

Yeah in this AU only the events of Parasite Eve 1 happen, so unfortunately that means no Eve Brea or Kyle Madigan. As for when this all happens, it's right after RE5 and way before RE6. Since Umbrella and other big Bio-Weapons corporations exist in this universe too, I feel like Aya would need to go into hiding after the events of Parasite Eve cause they would be VERY interested in her powers/genetics. Joining a team like MIST would bring too much attention to her, so the events of Parasite Eve 2 never happen.
