to be seen on social media, fitness instructors basically always have to have contemporarily attractive body types. whereas fitness instructors you meet in real life have a huge variety of body types.
being a well-qualified fitness instructor requires education and experience and yes, usually a significant level of fitness, be that strength, flexibility, stamina, so on.
Many people have all of those qualifications, while also being fat.
Perhaps the biggest lie advertising has sold you is that being "fit" means being thin. That is spectacularly untrue. The world is filled with fat athletes, amateur, professional, in all variety of sports, performing remarkable feats any of us would be damn proud to accomplish. That's a hell of a lot of experience and talent, including many educators you or I would be lucky to learn from.

-the industrial zone of large city
-a small town food desert
-an even smaller town with only a post office and the nearest actual store 20+ miles away
-new suburbs far away from any actual store or transportation
-the parts of any sprawling large city that can only be navigated via 3+ lane highways with no sidewalk, or the interstate
-anywhere with extreme heat
-anywhere with extreme cold
-anywhere with extreme weather
Nevermind being disabled and needing an actual sidewalk or benches to rest on. Nevermind needing a safe place to take a piss without being arrested for public indecency or Being Trans. Nevermind needing some sort of path to pull a cart with your purchased items BACK through if you aren't strong enough to carry them the apparent 10+ miles you're able and willing to walk. Nevermind curfews and ICE patrols and any other reason it might not be safe "pretty much any time"
We are fighting tooth and nail for REAL reliable transportation, for cities that aren't heat traps and endless mazes of sun-scorched pavement, for WALKABLE CITIES and what that means to people who are NOT an able-bodied 16 year old with everything they need within 5 miles FOR A REASON!!! Because it is life or death for people! Because we DON'T have it yet, in the VAST majority of places! Because it is a human right we are being DENIED!!! Not because we're all a lil bored and don't want to take a stroll today!!
You can't articulate and fight for a future if you foolishly assume it has already happened for EVERYONE, because it's here and present FOR YOU!! You can't name the problems and solutions if you think there IS no problem, because YOU don't have one. This was literally offered as a "solution" to a question about how to find thrifted/reused clothing when there are no thrift stores within driving distance - all it is is an inability to listen to the question in the first place
The future we want and need only happens if we can listen to those vast majority who aren't already living it and come up with real, achievable solutions and answers. Not by throwing more "well just pick yourself up by the bootstraps and Do It" at them.
Part of solarpunk and the future we want means learning to LISTEN and see outside of your own experience, and knowing when it's neither relevant or helpful

Here’s an old aro meme from 2011, which was before the rise of the “Ace Discourse” around 2015 (which may have started out as backlash in response to The Trevor Project deciding to include asexual people around that time). This meme format uses an aardvark to represent aromantic people. At the time, axolotls were often used in similar memes to represent asexuals, so the aromantic aardvark was chosen as the aromantic equivalent of the asexual axolotl. Aardvarks were considered to be somewhat of a mascot for the aromantic community for some time, though they have become less popular as a symbol in recent years.

why do closed captions keep pretending english is the only intelligible language? when a character speaks spanish what exactly is forcing your hand to transcribe it as "[speaks foreign language]" rather than "Si"
This intersection of Anglocentric bias + ableism and audism makes my blood boil.
People commonly defend this practise with "But the audience isn't meant to understand!" or "It's inconsequential!", neither of which actually address a) their assumption that the [ideal Anglo] audience wouldn't understand, or, perhaps most crucially in the context of CCs, b) that this is a failure of accessibility. A hearing person who speaks that "foreign" language will know exactly what's being said. A deaf or HoH person – the people CCs are primarily intended for – who speaks or reads that language should therefore have the exact same opportunity to understand. It very much feels to me like an assumption that we deaf and HoH people couldn't possibly understand any language but English, so there's no point in getting those languages transcribed for us. I hope it goes without saying how profoundly audist that sentiment is.
There is also, I think, a profound misunderstanding or ignorance of Deaf culture at play. Which is to say, CCs in English-language media are written with not only the assumption that the audience will be native English speakers, but that all d/Deaf and HoH people speak English as their first language, so all other languages are as supposedly foreign to them as they are for hearing people. But sign languages are their own distinct language. BSL, ASL, ISL, AusLan, NZSL etc ≠ English (and are indeed different from one another), LIS ≠ Italian, JSL ≠ Japanese, and so on. So, if you follow the captioners' logic to its natural extreme, all non-signed dialogue is "foreign" to many d/Deaf and HoH people and should therefore be labelled [speaks foreign language] / [speaks English] / [speaks own language] / etc. – which is, obviously, a terrible idea that perfectly highlights all the biases implicit in closed captioning.
TL;DR: your accessibility feature fails in its function as soon as you fail to transcribe all spoken languages.
Something to really understand is captions weren't really a *thing* for American TVs until about the 80s. They didn't become completely standard and required until the ADA became official law (early 90s). Another point to make is most deaf communities are so deprived of language that *English is not understood AT ALL*. This is why picture in picture television interpreters are so important. A very important point is made, CC's and subtitles are extremely English centric/focusing. There is an absolute assumption that D/deaf people *cant* learn any forgein language let alone English. We are automatically excluded by [speaks foreign language]. Most of the time I don't get to know *what* foreign language is even being spoken. I can read French, I can read some Spanish, my mom (deaf) can read 6 languages, my dad (deaf) could read 2. Are we ever afforded the *chance* to use those skills? My other hearing friends who speak foreign languages light up when that info becomes useful. I sit there and have to ask "which language are they speaking?". Everyone I see that complains about [forgein language speaking] usually puts it English forward. They want all forgein languages transcribed to ENGLISH and this is extremely different, this isn't equal access. That is English access and English access only. PROPERLY done [foreign language speaking] tags *should* be written out in that corresponding language.
We are still fighting for equal caption access. And we've been fighting for an extremely long time. Captions were made for us- for our access, then why are hearing people dictating what that should look like for us? Why is it when we deaf say we want captions written out in their appropriate languages, that the hearing voices that want English transcriptions that their voices always ring louder than ours? It's audism, and it's always been deeply ingrained into the things deaf/HoH people need for access.
