Coconut as garnishing, chutney, etc. 3. Cashews as mid-meal or with milk before sleeping It's fat which adds swaad to your food, along with satiety, satisfaction, and sustainability in the diet - says Rujuta. Soo true! I'm talking from my own experience. There was a time when my mom and I went beyond limits to cut down on all Fats from our diet as much as possile. Why? because it's not good for you if you want to lose weight. The worse thing was, we being a Konkani, Coconut is the most important ingredient in all our traditional meals. I remember eating kandepohe, Upma without coconut on top, trying various Oil-free recipes, eating Idli with no chatani- only with Sambar and Pure ghee was out of the question as it was the King of all Fats(I came to know the true meaning behind The King of all Fats later though). Little did I know that time that it was lack of good fat in our diet which was making us miserable- both emotionally and physically. I still wonder how and what the hell got into our mind at that time! Anyway, der aaye durust aaye! Soon after becoming aware of the importance of good fat in our meals through Rujuta Diwekar, we finally gave up that silliness and then, we started truly enjoying our food the way we were supposed to. Now, coming to this week's guideline, I've already been doing the 2nd thing which was the addition of Coconut in the diet! I'm not sure whether I should have Kaju on daily basis in this season but I do have them occasionally and yes I truly experienced that Kaju does lift my mood whenever I feel blue. Now, about oils, I'm happy that we have included our old gold filtered groundnut oil in our daily meals now but I'm yet to find Kachhi Ghana oil nearby and that too at a reasonable rate.
