“If I have one message to give to the secular American people, it’s that the world is not divided into countries. The world is not divided between East and West. You are American, I am Iranian, we don’t know each other, but we talk together and we understand each other perfectly. The difference between you and your government is much bigger than the difference between you and me. And the difference between me and my government is much bigger than the difference between me and you. And our governments are very much the same.”
― Marjane Satrapi, Iranian graphic novelist
Goodnight, and rest in peace, Marjane Satrapi. Thank you for your work and your voice. May we hear you.

generally speaking, the cooler and better your offline political activities are, the more important it becomes that you do not post about it on your personal social media acconts
Okay, if you are tired then you won't be able to read. There I say it. No one else want to say it. It is strange. If you are tired, if you cannot finish a book that's a given. That's why you need to read...at work. You need to steal your reading time from your employers.
Being online has made me poignantly aware that the most crucial things for a child's development are by far reading lessons, math lessons, a physical group activity with low-stakes competition teamwork to foster a healthy relationship between their body and society, normal daily socializing, real foods, and emotionally mature/financially stable parents. The rest doesn't actually matter.

so just because i ahve a rare and incurable condition where i can only understand human suffering thru the lens of showtunes and cartoons aimed at preteens means my posts about labor disputes aren't insightful? tch [turns on my heel and like five pins fall off my little backpack with nothing inside except the leather journal i'm writing my fantasy novel in] [turns back around immediately] so yeah it's sort of a chaotic found family story and it's like really wholesome but feral AF and there's a lot of queer representation
this is the Very First reblog on this post
i imagine being medicated would feel good as fuck. unfortunately i have to rawdog whatever's wrong with me
I'm in favour of people getting weird with pronouns, but nobody gets grammatically weird enough with pronouns. You can mess around with the declensions if you want. Yeah, my pronouns are 'she/she'. That's right, I don't have an accusative form. I refuse to be an object, direct or otherwise.
the state does not need to assign you a sex, nor does it need to keep inalterable record of it btw
a very interesting terf objection to this one boils down to "but how would the state know who to protect?" because it speaks to the incredible privilege of being in a class the state actually ever remotely wants to protect. most oppressed groups do not want the state to have a registry of them, lol
the patriarchy has done a great job convincing white cisgender women that it's in their best interests to maintain it

has anyone figured out how to turn off the thing where you love your pet so much it slides inexorably into grief-borrowing
“For me this glass is already broken. I enjoy it; I drink out of it. It holds my water admirably, sometimes even reflecting the sun in beautiful patterns. If I should tap it, it has a lovely ring to it. But when I put this glass on the shelf and the wind knocks it over or my elbow brushes it off the table and it falls to the ground and shatters, I say, ‘Of course.’ When I understand that the glass is already broken, every moment with it is precious.”
