Something that I have noticed is I know almost nobody my age that goes to a food pantry. I know people who regularly run out of money for food and in general have to eat an unsuitable diet because that’s what they can afford and they still don’t go to a food bank, im not sure if it’s because they’re embarrassed or maybe if you didn’t grow up going you don’t know much about it but if you’re financially struggling I really recommend it. And look into other options for food assistance too like community fridges and gardens and other programs that can assist you, where I live Salvation Army pays for an allotted amount of grocery delivery for low income people every month, in the summer farmers take excess produce to the library to be taken by anyone who needs it, etc. There are a LOT of resources for free food that you can look into especially if you are literally not eating because of your financial situation
Btw if you have dietary restrictions you can often let them know and in many cases they’ll prioritize certain items for you
Global map of community fridges
Urban Harvest - global foraging maps
Food Not Bombs Global Chapter Locations (mostly vegan!)
USA - Find your local food bank
USA - Meals on Wheels free or reduced cost food delivery (age usually 60+, check your specific area's eligibility

Good thing to have on hand in the midst of food stamps issues
I drew a bunch of different kind of pumpkins :D
I know some of you like talking to chatbots and all, but my dear yumes... That's not worth it
Your conversations are saved on their database even if you delete them
If something happens and they get hacked, your chats and info can be leaked
A lot of bots are extremely OOC or can say triggering and disturbing things without any warnings whatsoever
You know well that AI was trained using stolen work
Their servers need to consume tons of water to cool down, it's literally destroying the environment and we're currently dealing with its consequences
This business model exploits your loneliness to make you dependent on them. The more you choose to talk to chatbots instead of real people, the more you forget what real interactions and relationships are supposed to be like, making you feel even more lonely and likely to go back to talking to bots
And since the app is free, this means you're the product. They're probably selling your data to third parties (even Pinterest does that)
We're also the first generation to have access to AI, so we end up playing the role of lab rats without even realizing it. AI has triggered psychosis in some people already
Other alternatives:
Go read fanfiction and maybe write some of your own. Writing is beneficial to the brain. You can read and write headcanons, drabbles, one-shots, x readers, imagines... Have fun and don't forget to leave some comments to interact with the authors. Become active in the community
Roleplay. You can find a group to roleplay with, create a RP blog or find some roleplayer accounts to interact with
Install one of those fake chat apps and make your own chats
Join a server and talk to other fans
Go play some fan games. There are so many storytelling games out there that were made by fans and for fans. You can even make your own if you have the skills
Remember that writing and drawing are not skills people are born with. Everyone practices and it's extremely normal to not be good at it at first. It takes time to get better, but the main goal of these hobbies is to have fun and just create in general

Today in a genetics course I'm taking we played around with this website which is literally just a character creator for fruit flies
here's my new OC I call her Recombinantia she has every single allele and her starry purple eyes refract the sunlight filtered by her dichaete wings
and her husband who is like, a guy
Humanity going extinct because everyone collectively decides to stop reproducing would not be the worst case scenario, actually. I don’t think that is going to happen and I think people fear-mongering about it because of the declining birthrate are fucking absurd but compared to all the possible causes for the extinction of humanity (total nuclear annihilation, drug-resistant supervirus, earth becoming completely uninhabitable) humans saying “Nah, no more.” and just giving up on continuing to reproduce is a much gentler ending to our species. One of the best extinction scenarios but unlikely/impossible.
everything u need to know about me can actually be explained by the fact that i read that poem about the serving girl wearing the pearls so they're warm for her mistress when i was like 11 and it rewrote my brain chemistry forever

Hey someone suggested I use ChatGPT to figure out adulting today, and as I was going through the mental list of places I'd rather look, I realized "beloved strangers on Tumblr dot net" was on that list.
So if you have an aspect of adulting that you're really good at-taxes, budgeting, cooking, insurance, credit, time management, house upkeep, anything-please feel free to reblog with any tips.
Not me, but @bitchesgetriches has a lot of great resources for many of these topics on their website.

Guide to Figuring out the Age of an Undated World Map.
No but take the time to actually read it because I lost like 15 minutes.
I have a friend who is really good at this type of thing. He once found an old globe at a garage sale and he was able to pin the date of it’s making down to like a 6 month window, because it only would’ve been correct during a specific point in WWII.
I was mad impressed, because I have no mind for geography. I can barely remember my own state’s capitol.
THIS IS GOLD 😂😂😂
This is amazing. Take the time to actually read it.
Holy shit the super specific things towards the end
Oh wow!
I didn’t know anything about the giant lake in California being created by accident?!
I love how it differentiates the maps of Narnia based on which book you’re looking at

now all the things you guys have told me about american high schools are starting to make sense
holy shit.
This right here is why it won't pass here. The religious right has a chokehold on the republican party, and they want to reserve the right to abuse their kids.
The type of abuse in this context is always indoctrination and brainwashing, but also often has mental, emotional, physical, and yes even sexual abuse thrown in for good measure, too.
Make no mistake: children are only valuable to the US religious right as pawns.
@xzye-trelefor reblogging your comment if you wouldn't mind
Don't mind at all. I spent a week in juvie for "resisting arrest". There were no other charges, just resisting *after* I was put in handcuffs and moved to another room. For reference my resistance consisted of trying to pull my arm out of a twist the officer was using to cause me pain for his own amusement. This was the day after they had arrested my father and failed to provide any assistance to myself and two brothers that were then orphaned. We live in a police state with no rights. Anyone that tells you otherwise had been given invisible privilege by the authorities and insulated from reality.
Still love this one so posted it here again 😌
