A question for all the leftists I see screaming about refusing to vote for Biden "on principle": what is your plan? I'm genuinely asking, because I have seen no actual ideas for what the course of action is if Trump gets elected again. It will not trigger a revolution like you think it will. 4 years of a pandemic with corporations making record profits while the general populace suffers and still almost no traction gained by labor movements should have made that clear to everyone. It will not cause the US to collapse like you think it will. The country will continue to function, however weakened, with a vengeful and sadistic dictator who is impune to the law and cannot be removed, as well as hundreds of millions of enslaved citizens, and millions more being murdered by the state for the crime of daring to exist. Countless others will likely be lost to suicide. And the ones who survive will remember those who refused "on principle" to do the bare minimum to attempt to keep them safe.

For the record: Some of them (some of the LOUDEST of them) are actively and deliberately malicious. They're Russian psyops and Iranian propaganda shills and right-wing trolls who understand that anything that depresses the youth vote and minority vote makes it more likely for Trump to win. Are some of the comments "useful idiots"? Sure, but at this point anyone you see loudly trumpeting that "both sides are the same", especially if they claim to be queer (and/or some combination of other minorities) should be assumed to be a liar and a bad actor.

You cannot find an issue that Trump is not significantly worse on than Harris. Gaza? Harris wants peace talks, Trump wants to nuke Palestine. Climate? Harris wants to move toward carbon neutrality, Trump wants to remove all restrictions ever. Trans people? Harris is imperfectly supportive, Trump wants them all forcibly detransitioned, jailed and/or dead.

The choice is absolutely obvious, and if you don't vote for Harris you get Trump. And that's why there's so much effort to convince you not to vote.

So who do you prefer?

Biden, who has helped lgbtq rights, reproductive rights, infrastructure, the environment, lowered medication costs, supported unions, and done MANY good, progressive things,

Or Trump, who we already know is awful. Who we already know will destroy any human rights Biden managed to gain. Who will not help the environment. Who will not help trans people, or immigrants, or women.

Because those are your two choices. And if you think they're the same, you are dangerous to all marginalized people.

There has never been a point in any of our lifetimes where the US wasn't contributing to some atrocity or war crime or SOMETHING somewhere in the world. There just hasn't been.

The president isn't a king, and can't unilaterally impose his will on the country. There is not - and will never be - a candidate who can just wave their hand and only make the Good and Morally Pure Things you want to happen happen. That is not the system we have.

But things can get better, and things can get so much worse.

There is no scenario where refusing to vote and letting Trump win causes FEWER marginalized people to die.
