When you share a border with Russia, it shapes your way of life in a way where you kind of forget that outsiders regard the constant potential threat of getting invaded by Russia as a matter of politics, and not just like. a natural disaster typical for this area. Sometimes I see this misunderstanding and I'd like to clarify it. When Ukrainian say "russian drones/shahed drones/iranian drones," we don't mean this kind of drones:

ENG: Ugh i’m so done today. Found this on Pinterest where a photoshoot from a Ukrainian photograph, using Ukrainian models, in Ukraine with Ukrainian traditional clothing was stated to be russian. This is blatant disrespect and cultural appropriation and I don’t want to stay silent. The original author of this photo is Anna Senik and she has many other beautiful photos capturing ukrainian garments and not only. These are not the only picture which was stolen by this account and she has many more pictures from ukrainian museums and projects which are labeled as russian. The worst part is that my friend who used to post about Luhansk region on Pinterest decided to close her account because these pictures were stolen from there.

see my problem w civ 7 isnt that russia exists because that's a general life problem not a videogame one. my problem is that they're clearly trying to make the game less problematic, less reliant on white european historical narratives, more woke for the lack of a better word, though i mean it positively. they've reworked the historical eras, they've already released new leaders (notably harriet tubman) and new civs (shawnee and mississippians in north america, songhai and aksum in africa, hawai'i in oceania) - there's seems to be even more of a focus than in civ 6 to showcase history that's lesser known and underrated as a result of colonialism and oppression. something that speaks of certain values and priorities of the dev team.

and yet, when it comes to russia? same shit all over again. catherine the horsefucker whose reign just in my modest corner of the world has seen the annexation of crimean khanate, termination of zaporizhian sich and the cossacks, implementation of serfdom, colonization of ukraine with russian settlers and russification of government and education. so cultural, so scientific, am i right sid meier's civilization vii?

Nothing that the Russians say or do on their television and social media can trigger and frustrate a Ukrainian more than the attitude of the Western world towards the Russians.

I read the morning news and see that Jared Leto on his show in Serbia happily told his Russian fans that he'll come to Russia and Ukraine when these "problems" are over. I go on tumblr and see people I follow reblogging a post about Discord being blocked in Russia, and instructions on how to use the VPN as if literally all Russians don't know it already. This post has over 2k notes! A post about atrocities that Russians willingly commit in Ukraine on a daily basis will get you 60-100 notes, 95% of which will be from other Ukrainians.

This is beyond triggering. How do you live in this Russian-loving world with Russian-induced PTSD?

This is not a "Ukrainian crisis", not "temporary difficulties", not just a "problem" that can go away without a trace. It's an invasion, a Russian war against Ukraine, genocide of Ukrainians. We are not crazy and overdramatic, we see the true face of Russia. The one you will never be able to see through your red square glasses.

i still can’t believe tumblr as a whole did not come out in full support for ukraine when russia invaded or anytime since like????

- ukrainians are a vulnerable population that have been frequently invaded/subjugated by russia for centuries

- ukrainians have now been fighting in full force for over two years just for the right to exist

- russia’s genocide of ukrainians is well-documented and established at this point: deporting children en mass to be adopted by russians and go through russification; deporting adults en mass and moving russians in to take their place; sweeping through towns and killing indiscriminately; etc.
