This is me tailrunning at Forest Rec Parkrun. Lots of signs to collect on the way back!
Been a while since I was motivated enough to eat a grapefruit #healthy #run #nutrition #grapefruit #food #fruit #diet
I've been given some physiotherapy moves to do! #physio #run #running #5k #sport #10k #Nottingham #notts (at Mary Potter Health Centre)
Massive thanks to @surfacegallery for giving my fundraising a shout-out in their April newsletter! (at Surface Gallery)
More Parkrun volunteering! I’m somewhat less at sea now that I’ve come to terms with my knee strain. Infact, I’ve forgotten how good it feels to run, so I don’t know what I’m missing anymore. I have a physio appointment in less than a week, so I’ll know when I can tentatively begin running again. It’s worth the wait, rather than rushing into and causing more injury...
That’s me in the kahki jacket. I was barcode scanning for the first time last weekend, and will be timekeeping again this coming weekend. Good luck everyone at the Forest Rec! :-)
Wish I was running! But it's still too soon for my knee injury. Patiently waiting for physio and contemplating swimming.
A bit of radio silence on the running front due to the injury, but the good news is that I've begun an internship at @sysongallery this week and the current exhibition is quite fun. Worth a look (at SYSON)
Well done everyone at Forest Rec #Parkrun this morning! I was on token support and everything seemed to go smoothly, plus it didn't rain! Good weather for plenty of PBs (at Forest Recreation Ground)
Day out to Wollaton Hall to scout the Easter 10k route, and walked one lap of it. I don't think I'm going to be fit for the race but at least I know the course now to complete when my knee is better. Lots of deer and we even had a picnic!
Here comes the sun
I’ve just had the weekly Nottingham Women Runners newsletter delivered to my inbox, and I thought this advice was practical and fun, so here’s NWR’s Top 10 Summer Tips:
If you run at Colwick in the evening, be prepared to swallow a LOT of flies...
… and if you don’t wear shades, you will be fishing them out of your eyes as well.
Wear shorts.  No-one is looking at your legs, trust us.  Once you’re out and running, your legs will feel brilliant.  Cycling shorts under running shorts if you want a bit of extra coverage… but try shorts. They’re ace!
Run first thing in the morning for cool, fresh, sparkly running.
I'm supporting Amnesty International UK and they've been great right from the day I created my @justgiving page! They immediately got in touch and posted me a fundraising pack with tips and inspiration, and added me to their Facebook community. I got the book out the library - that wasn't included in the pack but it looks like it could come in handy.
Holly can’t run
A training update, and the situation is this. Last week I felt something go in my knee, which carries an old ligament injury, so niggles are to be expected. I’d been playing it down, but a week on it isn’t much better.
Yesterday I tried using a stationary exercise bike. I’m getting cabin fever resting up and I need to maintain the level of fitness I’ve already achieved, so my goal was to just do thirty minutes of exercise. Boy, am I regretting it today. My knee is unhappy, and I’m back to square one in the recovery process. So the lesson here is to be patient.

Great selection of women’s sport available on BBC iPlayer this week:
Women’s Six Nations: England vs. France Women’s Road Cycling World Cup Girls Get Inspired UEFA Women’s Champion’s League Women’s Indian Wells Tennis Final
Guess who's done too much training. Suspected strained ligament. Got my knee elevated and compression on. Not glamorous.
Me as timekeeper at the Forest Rec Parkrun last Saturday. (Second from the left, at the back)
At the moment I’m struggling to achieve a 6min/km 5k pace. Mo Farah is running a 10-mile recovery run at 3:33min/km.
I won’t reblog a lot of things, but I do find it funny when I compare myself to the top athletes!
A bit of a dodgy knee this week, so I volunteered as timekeeper at Forest Rec #Parkrun - quite cold but lots of runners, and I didn't mess up the times!
