Lot of things to discuss about the new Dune movie, but one minor thing I thought was hilarious is that while Chani was teaching Paul how to properly sandwalk, his first instinct was to start to say that the anthropology video shows a completely different way to do it...which as Chani demonstrated, was incorrect.

There are two possibilities here: the first, is that a non-fremen was recorded doing what they thought was a close approximation to sandwalking.

The other, which I believe fully in my heart, is that some Imperial scientists asked a fremen to demonstrate sandwalking while they recording him...and the fremen did it wrong on purpose.

the problem with reading and writing leading to a strong vocabulary is that you tend to know the vibe of words instead of their meanings.

if I used this word in a sentence, would it make sense? absolutely. if you asked me what it meant, could I tell you? absolutely not.

y'know, one thing i don't see get talked about much in regards to asexuality is how it feels to never be 'sexually motivated' by anything

and not just when it comes to advertisements using 'sexy' models to try and sell you stuff, but like. in general

sex as a favor, sex as a bribe, sex in exchange for whatever

casual sex, 'friends with benefits' situations, even simple flirting

it all looks a whole lot different from the perspective of someone who's immune to manipulation via sex appeal, who has virtually no understanding as to why sex would motivate someone to cheat on their partner, etc. etc.

sex is worthless to me

i mean, it's useful as a story element in fiction, but it genuinely perplexes me that sex is such a driving force behind so many aspects of irl society & of people's individual lives, for better or for worse

and that it's so deeply ingrained into how the average person views the world & various situations, because the average person feels sexual attraction, whereas i do not

i think the barrier between aces & allos is actually even deeper than it seems on the surface at times, because it's more than just the grating expectation that everyone must want to 'settle down' and have kids, it's also the fact that the majority of the world is sort of 'in' on a joke that aces will never truly be a part of

 Omegaverse is just xeno for cowards so in this essay i will propose some fun updates to the genre inspired by actual reproductive strategies found in nature. ; )

The Snake Model (Snodel): - Omegas are female. They have a single opening for the digestive and reproductive tracts called a cloaca. - Alphas have hemipenes aka two dicks. In nature this evolved to get sperm into both the pink and the stink (not that scientists will admit it). Pros: two (2) dicks Cons: realization that it’s been cloaca porn the whole time

The Seahorse Model: - Alphas are actually female. Their big throbbing knotty cocks can stay exactly the same but they’re actually ovipositors. - Omegas have a brood pouch. The eggs deposited can even be microscopic/semen-like if you’re squeamish. Pros: no substantive changes to popular “biology” needed; includes the phrase “brood pouch” Cons: forces confrontation with inherent misogyny of the genre

The Bluegill Sunfish Model: - Aggressive, hyper-masculine Alpha males pair off with female-mimicking omega males. - Alpha-omega pairs stake out a territory, build an inviting nest and put on sexy displays together to impress the local females. - Females who approve of a male pair deposit eggs in their nest then go back to their wives and careers. - The males fertilize and care for any eggs left in their nest. Pros: fascinating, sexy, domestic and original; female characters exist and are all lesbians Cons: none

my headcanon is that as soon as keith and shiro are alone in keith’s shack after shiro is rescued, keith breaks down, overwhelmed by not only having shiro back, but by witnessing the physical evidence of the trauma he was put through. :^) shiro has had time to get used to how he has changed, but once he sees the tears rolling down keith’s cheeks, that’s when he starts to cry. :^)))
