I've said it before, but I'll say it again:
I'm an American living in Germany. I've lived here for four years as of this week (June 2021).
Two and a half years ago, I had a medical emergency in the form of gallstones and an infected gallbladder. I tried to tough it out, like a True American Who Can't Afford Treatment, and ended up in the hospital getting the gallbladder removed. I was brought in on Thursday, had the gallbladder and five gallstones the size of macadamia nuts removed on Saturday, and was home by Tuesday. Total cost, 200 euro.
Back in March, 2021, I saw a visual distortion in my right eye, like an afterimage of looking at something bright for too long. Got seen by the eye doctor that day, got sent to the hospital that day to get a diagnosis--ocular vein occlusion--and spent the following three days getting followup diagnostics, including a full blood panel. I got diagnosed with having elevated levels of homocysteine in my blood, and that turned out to be caused by a genetic disorder that runs in my family (MTHFR-5 mutation) where I can't metabolize B vitamins correctly. And now I'm on modified B vitamins and the difference in my daily life is amazing.
Total cost for the hospital stay and all of the blood tests and eye examinations and other tests?
250 euro.
In my old city in the US--which has a nationally renown hospital--the gallbladder removal costs a year's salary for a minimum wage worker.
US healthcare if you are not wealthy is a bad joke.
This was………………. the drag of the century

Okay so in case y'all don’t know, this is from Pose. A series about the black trans community and ball culture in new York during the 80’s. Its got vogueing, lgbt+ culture, history, drama, romance, comedy, tragedy. Its wonderful and historically accurate and all the trans people are played by real trans actors.
it takes a long time to learn this, I still struggle with it
I don’t want to end Amazon, because it provides an incredibly useful service to the disabled community, the elderly, and those who simply don’t have time to go shopping due to working three jobs and the like. There currently isn’t a major alternative on the market that is the same level of cheap and accessible.
What I do want to do is enforce some goddamn antitrust laws on major web-based companies like Amazon and Google and Facebook, and roll back their attempts at monopolizing entire industries, and make them pay their lowest-rung workers a fair wage and stop running their warehouses like a scene from a dystopian nightmare.
I also want to guillotine Jeff Bezos but thats just a personal dream yknow?
I just think they’re neat
Oh well, what’s life without a few dragons?

Free Palestine. I want anyone who can to please boost this, at least reblog it. This was the best video I could find in English, the link she is referring to is this:

I’m not sure why the link isn’t working but please copy the link and donate if you have the means to and keep Palestine in your minds and hearts.

This legitimately upsets me.
… Y’see, now, y’see, I’m looking at this, thinking, squares fit together better than circles, so, say, if you wanted a box of donuts, a full box, you could probably fit more square donuts in than circle donuts if the circumference of the circle touched the each of the corners of the square donut.
So you might end up with more donuts.
But then I also think… Does the square or round donut have a greater donut volume? Is the number of donuts better than the entire donut mass as a whole?
Hrm.
HRM.
A round donut with radius R1 occupies the same space as a square donut with side 2R1. If the center circle of a round donut has a radius R2 and the hole of a square donut has a side 2R2, then the area of a round donut is πR12 - πr22. The area of a square donut would be then 4R12 - 4R22. This doesn’t say much, but in general and throwing numbers, a full box of square donuts has more donut per donut than a full box of round donuts. The interesting thing is knowing exactly how much more donut per donut we have. Assuming first a small center hole (R2 = R1/4) and replacing in the proper expressions, we have a 27,6% more donut in the square one (Round: 15πR12/16 ≃ 2,94R12, square: 15R12/4 = 3,75R12). Now, assuming a large center hole (R2 = 3R1/4) we have a 27,7% more donut in the square one (Round: 7πR12/16 ≃ 1,37R12, square: 7R12/4 = 1,75R12). This tells us that, approximately, we’ll have a 27% bigger donut if it’s square than if it’s round.
tl;dr: Square donuts have a 27% more donut per donut in the same space as a round one.
god i love this site

Will Graham's batshit leaps in deduction are so much more valid and interesting than BBC Sherlock's so called reasoning. Sherlock would go on some pouty big brain tirade about how the killer is clearly the cousin based off the imprint of the dust layer and the way he turns on lamps meaning he has a meth habit and a need to kill or smth whilst our boy Will Graham just stares off into space, starts vibrating and perspiring like a wet excitable dog and then simply announces terrifying shit like "had to cut you open to get a decent sound out of you... anyway the killer is a violin stringer"
Will Graham t poses and clips through the sky box to see muder clues like a boundary break youtuber and Hannibal is the only one who can see it.
