FlutterGhost King & Queen AU
So I've been thinking about ideas and headcanons for an AU/EU/Layer to my DP/MLP: EG crossover. Long post incoming!
I really like the Ghost King Danny AU in the fandom, so I wanted to share my FlutterGhost spin on it!
Like always, I'll be sharing a bit of general information before getting into the headcanon.

To start off, Danny is named King after the Pariah Dark incident in the show. In this AU, he's pretty hesitant to take the title. Not because he's unwilling or anything like that, but because Danny feels that he's still too young and inexperienced. He's started to care a lot more about his ghost side, and the ghosts in general, and doesn't want to risk making a cataclysmic mistake that would hurt the ghosts due to being inexperienced. So while he's thrown off by this new development, he doesn't just want to leave the ghosts hanging.
While Danny isn't ready to become king, the ghosts still see him as their authority figure (I'll get into that later). So they compromise, with Danny not having to be crowned king, but instead holding the title of Crown Prince. That way, the ghosts still have a royal figurehead, and Danny doesn't have to worry about being king until he decides that he's ready.
TLDR: Danny isn't reluctant to be king, per se. He just wants to wait until he's older and has more experience with the ghostly side of everything.
That's where he's at in the current timeline of the Main AU. He's Crown Prince of the Ghost Zone.
Everyone with me so far? Cool!
Now, just imagine FlutterGhost get together, blah blah blah, a couple years pass, blah blah blah, etc.
Okay, now a few years older (like, 18-19) and with more experience as Phantom under his belt, Danny is ready to take on more responsibility as King. There's a coronation in the Ghost Zone, everyone's invited, Danny forms his royal entourage/council/court, etc.
Alright. Now we're going to get into more headcanon territory!

Danny is known as King Phantom in the Ghost Zone.
The ghosts had pretty much adopted that title for him, but it wasn't recognized by the Ghost Zone as a whole until Danny became king and announced the title as being official.
Remember when I said that I'd bring up how the ghosts see Danny as their authority figure despite him not being king yet? Here we go.
Connections and bonds are very important in the Ghost Zone/Infinite Realms. Basically, even thought Danny didn't take the throne right away, since the ghosts already made the connection, the Realms still recognized it as legitimate.
This applies to Danny's family and friends, too. Sam, Tucker, Jazz, Dani, Fluttershy, the rest of the Rainbooms, etc. Since Danny is King, and since his bonds with them are so prominent, the Ghost Zone recognizes them as royalty/nobility and considers them part of Danny's court.
His council (Frostbite, Pandora, Fright Knight, Clockwork, etc.) are all proud of his progress as King, but inform him that according to the Observants (or some decree that Pariah Dark ignored, it can be up to you), he must choose a partner to rule beside him.
Danny doesn't think too much of it at first. He's doing pretty well as King, and he's already with Fluttershy, so why the sudden push?
Whatever the reason, Danny decides to have Fluttershy as his Queen. He'd already been thinking of proposing, after all.
The couple have a long talk about everything, which may or may not have ended in an emotional, impromptu proposal! Fluttershy accepts, and while she's a little nervous, she's willing to take that step with Danny.
The Observants are quick to try and shut it down, however.
"But she's mortal!" "What strengths could she provide?!" "Sire, there are many other options-!"
Danny is NOT having ANY OF IT!
They wanted him to choose a Queen, so he did. And he would have no one else standing by his side.
The wedding/coronation is held. Rarity pours her all into designing the gown. Only the best for her friend!
Of course, it almost doesn't happen, since Angel decided to try stealing Fluttershy's crown, and Cujo decided to take a a nap on the throne, but it's fine! Everything's fine!
Frostbite declares that their Queen will need a proper title before being presented to her people.
Danny, Fluttershy, and their friends brainstorm for a bit, suggesting all kinds of names, before Danny stops, taking a long look at his wife.
Her soft pink hair, her bright teal eyes. It almost reminds him of an aurora borealis. An Aurora! That's it!
The Aurora Borealis is often seen as a symbol of renewal and transformation. And the name Aurora symbolizes the coming of dawn, hope, and light. That's what Fluttershy is bringing to the Ghost Zone as Queen. A new dawn, a new era.
Danny suggests the name, and everyone agrees. Fluttershy loves it, and Frostbite, along with the council, give their approval.
King Phantom presents Fluttershy to his subjects as their new Queen, Queen Aurora.
Presenting, their Royal Highnesses, King Phantom & Queen Aurora, rulers of the Infinite Realms!

Ta-Da! There you have it! Obviously, this is just like an introduction/general overview of this AU, but I've got more ideas and headcanons to go with it that I'll share at some point!
