This is something that more people should be aware of, if only because (in many states, at least) defense attorneys are actually prohibited from mentioning it to jurors. The law allows a jury to return a “not guilty” verdict contrary to the facts of the case, but not for the defense to inform them of that power or to argue for its application in the current trial.

As I understand it, the Order of Operations is as follows:

1. Focus on the Tax Bill. That’s happening this week. Shoot it down.

3. In the meantime, Net Neutrality. The FCC votes on December 14th. Protest, boost, research, do whatever you can. 

I know #MeToo is important, I know Old Man Donald is still being a jerk, I know North Korea has a nuke, none of these are going to be dealt with before Christmas. There are three fronts to this fight: taxes, Alabama, FCC. These are the focal points. If we can win one of those, it’s going to have ramifications for the future. If we can win two, we’re in a pretty good place. We win all three, 2017 was a Good Year.

I first heard this song last year, when I first heard all the Hamilton songs. So for nearly a year I’ve been idolizing Pippa Soo’s voice and pretending in the shower that I could perform this song.

Fast forward to us having our choir concert yesterday. It was themed “historical musicals” and so Burn was suddenly completely appropriate, and I auditioned it as a standalone solo, still not really believing it would happen… and, well, here it is.

I put a lot of energy into preparing and perform this, and even now, 24 hours later, I still get little tremors when I think about it. Little aftershocks of the earthquake, I guess.

I have a friend who may have taken a more close-up video. When I get that video, I’ll link it so you can see my angry faces.
