it’s a reasonable expectation that you would sometimes have sex throughout your entire marriage, and it is (i guess??) a reasonable expectation that in a dangerous situation, your husband would try to protect you. but you aren’t ENTITLED to either. but your wife cannot consent ahead of time to sex for the entirety of a marriage that could last decades. you still need consent every single time you have sex. whether you’re married or not. also, how many times have you died to protect your wife? you seem to still be here. it seems like an unlikely situation, whereas the sex situation probably happens a few times a week. so you would be willing to actually fucking DIE for that woman, but you aren’t willing to use your hand for that woman? you aren’t willing to just say “oh okay so not tonight? that’s alright, maybe another time” and then go use your hand like you probably already do all time?? use your hand!!! “I’m willing to die for her but I’m not willing to respect her boundaries and not have sex as often as I want” okay man. you aren’t entitled to sex and your wife isn’t entitled to your life but nice try. don’t marry men!!

Mind you, neither of the things here are equivalent— it's a crummy deal that's obviously is in favor of the man. And I can show you how this is the case in only a couple of questions.

How often is your wife expected to have sex with you throughout the course of your marriage?

Okay, now it's time for question two.

How often do you die for your wife or are even confronted with a situation dangerous enough for you to even come through on that promise?

Time for question three!

If your wife agrees to this crappy deal, you'll know that she's serious about her part of the deal because you'll be actively having sex with her— consistently, but how can we verify that you WILL actually die for your wife when given the chance to?

I mean, the vast majority of husbands really aren't put into situations where they'll get the chance to hold up their end of the deal, or show that they're even willing to.

They can actually live their whole lives without ever gallantly dying for their wife (and they do), but can still get an entire life of sex because of this scam of an agreement.

As far as anybody with a brain can see, men are way more likely to kill their wives and female partners than they are to EVER die for them.

So, this deal basically comes down to the woman agreeing to sexually please this man for the entire course of their marriage, and then the man gets to just promise that he'll do something that he'll probably never have to do, ever.

He gets her body— a private sex doll, so to speak, and she gets a promise that we might never know he'll keep if given the chance.

Can you imagine? Being a man's sex slave because he said he'll die for you, and then he never dies?? It's not a good trade-off anyway, but just imagine.

the problem with even entertaining the notion that "men are hurt by the patriarchy too!" is it obscures the fact that all men are beneficiaries of patriarchy first and foremost. attempts to "recruit" men by claiming that feminism is in their best interest are simply not true! the privileges of patriarchy are the material incentive for every man to participate in its perpetuation, and our goal as feminists is to dismantle the systems that award them that privilege.
