How can you be an anti natalist and feminist

The short answer is: by procreating you are feeding into patriarchy and capitalism.

The somewhat long answer is: anti natalism is the viewpoint that bringing new to life into the world is immoral, because of inevitable suffering. Now how does this align with radical feminism? From a radfem perspective this aligns with our critique of systems that exploit and commodify the female body, especially through reproduction. Under patriarchy women are socialised and biologically used as vessels for reproduction. Our ‘value’ is often reduced in whether or not we want children. And motherhood is romanticised while the real labor of it, physical, emotional, economic—is ignored or dismissed. Choosing to not reproduce is resistance, it’s a sign that you don’t want to feed into these oppressive systems. The very systems that thrives on our unpaid labor and bodily exploitation.

So yes, anon, it’s possible, for most of us, deeply logical—to be both a radical feminist and an antinatalist. They’re not contradictory, they reinforce and tie in together.

My radical take is that I don't trust you if you're pro natalist or if you have kids. I seriously can't take anyone seriously trying to talk about making the world a better place when they've already given up the game. Sorry hon but you can't act like you actually want to make things better when you've already made it clear you don't care about the conditions you're bringing your kids into. Having kids is quite literally the most basic way to say "yeah, this is fine, I'm totally fine with my kids living under these conditions." Having kids right now is quite literally supporting every fucked up system because guess what all those systems need? More people to run them. If you actually wanted to make a change, you would have made an effort to make the world a better place instead of having kids just cause you want em.

most women really don't really think too hard about why they want to have kids. it's just a given, they're following the playbook of what a woman should do when when she reaches a certain age.

your comments about them wanting to live vicariously through someone else and feel better about themselves hit the nail on the head though. some women realize that they won't achieve anything notable in their life, so they rush to have kids because that gives them purpose and status.

mothers are narcissistic, which is why anti-natalism is laughed at. the potential suffering of their offspring genuinely never enters these people's minds. even parents who birth kids with severe developmental disabilities/rare health issues say that they don't regret birthing their kid and it was worth it to be able to "spend a few months/years with them". the thought that they are to blame for the suffering of their child never even crosses their mind. and these are parents of kids that outwardly suffer too. parents of kids that appear healthy but still suffer from depression won't give af either.

and yeah boymoms are weird. especially the ones that consider themselves feminists. they get to witness how "socialization" inevitably turns their sweet little boy into a misogynistic porn brained prick over the course of a decade.

okay this is just stupid, straight people aren’t just driven by reproduction, they like personalities too! god now you’re acting like the morally superior pansexuals who think they’re the only ones who like people’s personalities. yes straight romance can be quite horrifying to the lesbian observer, but it’s not driven by an animal instinct to reproduce, it’s driven by the same forces that might cause a same-sex-attracted person to try to date: wanting to find connection, sex, companionship, etc. maybe also some feelings of obligation to date and get married and have kids at a certain age to please your family, which I feel like homosexuals luckily are sort of let off the hook on that one. straight people can feel genuine companionship. yes i do feel like homosexual love can become deeper more easily because you don’t have to cross the male/female language barrier that seems to cause so many misunderstandings and miscommunications in straight relationships. but can we all stop fighting about how our type of love is the only type that is wholesome and sweet and likes personalities, but the other kinds are shallow and mean and don’t like personalities? anyone can be horrible and shallow and just be dtf, and anyone can be sweet and wholesome and only care about personalities, most people are somewhere in the middle.
