Stadiums in the next World Cup.
fans trying to keep up with their team when one match is in Mexico DF and the next is in Vancouver:
Itās like a real life game of race the rails
You are a villain famous for ākillingā heroes. In reality, heroes come to you to fake their deaths.
Sometimes they try to pay you.
You are posted out by the Hollywood sign tonight, sitting under the frame where the W used to be. It got burnt to a crisp during last weekās big superhero fight. A hero died right where youāre sitting. The whole areaās been closed down until Hero Force can coordinate a recovery effort. Usually itād be done by now but no oneās willing to touch it until the ash has been completely blown away.
Itās a rule that the world must stand still when a hero dies.
āHow much?ā
The voice comes from behind you. The lights that illuminate the Hollywood sign are down to hide as much of the scorch marks as possible. You wouldnāt be able to see anything even if you did turn around, so you donāt.
You put some chapstick on, the glide of the balm against your wind chapped lips grounding.
āI said,ā the Hero says, voice tightening, āHow. Much.ā
Thereās the sound of gravel crunching now. Theyāre wearing heavy boots and the scent of fresh blood grows stronger the closer they get. Their breathing is smooth and even which means itās not their blood.
You put the cap back on your chapstick and tuck it into your leather jacketās inner pocket. āI donāt take money.ā
āThen what do you take?ā The Hero rounds the Y and comes into your line of sight. The dark hides most of their features, but you can make out a glittering gold mask and the dull shine of drying blood on their chest plate. Their breathing may be even, but their stance isnāt. They sway in place, back and forth, back and forth. Their arms wrap around their stomach. āIāve got land. A house. You can have it.ā

Ok so I like boys and I might be a trans dude but Iām really attracted to the lesbian label idk why but aaa isnsuhsuwnsus Idk what to do what is wrong with me please help me
I have the same problem with the term ābutchā, I really like it but Iām not a lesbian so I canāt exactly use it
so instead I just call myself a sparrow stag (meaning a sorta low-maintenance masculine nb)
Queer men (especially trans men) have been using the term butch for decades, and the movement to redefine butch and femme as lesbian exclusive terms is spearheaded by and beneficial to terfs.
If butch is the word that fits, then use it. Terfs donāt deserve to shape your life or our community.
Terfs donāt define us, and they certainly donāt define you.
is that true? Do you know where I could read more about it? The only things I could find just state that butch is a lesbian term
Iām on mobile right now, which is always hard on research, but I will collect you some sources tonight, no worries
Thank you so much!
Starting off simply, hereās a timeline of the history of ābutch,ā exploring its roots in working class queer women of colorās bars (remember, the word lesbian just meant āwoman who has sex with womenā until the 70s). The 80s is when the author first starts talking about the use of butch by queer men. Specifically, urban men of color.
And, while I hate to play the ādefer to authorityā card, when it comes to butch identity, there are few people who would know more about it than Butch Voices, the largest butch activist organization in the world. Which specifically refuses to exclude men, and more than that explicitly includes trans men.
Gay men often describe themselves (check out these personals ads), their partners or their friends in terms of being femme or butch, not just in casual contexts, but in research ones. Thatās how deeply these identities are felt. Again and again, the term used to describe all queer masculinity is butch.
And while most definitions by queer organizations welcome and acknowledge the fact that butch was popularized in post-WWII womenās spaces, youāll note an absence of gender limitations on the definitions themselves.
Thatās because butch identity, by its very nature, is a violation of gender norms (one that some people say is outdated and antiquated, though I strongly disagree).
And so, too, are all forms of queerness ultimately a violation of gender normativity, of strict definition and categorization.
Thatās why major butch authors, for example, hesitate to even use traditional gender pronouns such as āheā or āsheā when writing about the hypothetical butch. Because a butch may be a woman, but womanhood is not a necessary component of butchness. And I do apologize for that link, I know it only shows scraps of the whole book, but it does at least include a couple of the more relevant essays about the complexity of trying to assign a gender to butch identity.
For all queer peopleāincluding the menābutch identity is an act of reclamation of masculine performance, in the same way that for all queer peopleāincluding the womenāfemme identity is a reclamation of feminine performance, ripping it out of the hands of the cisheteronormative hegemony and saying, hey, fuck you, you donāt get to decide who counts as what, who gets to do what, get fucked. And this can be fumbled, of course, but so can anything. Performance is what it is, and we all make missteps.
Now, as for the other half of my conclusion: that the constant claims about butch (and femme) being ālesbian exclusiveā are TERF propaganda.
The following links require content warnings far in excess of just āthese talk about queer history and the evolution of terminology.ā
These are links to TERF news articles written and intended for non-TERF audiences. That means they present TERF talking points in positive language. Be careful when you approach them, be careful when you read them.
Since at least the 1980s, when masculinizing medical transition started becoming more accessible on a larger scale, trans-exclusionary feminists and trans-exclusionary lesbian separatists have been going out of their way to erase, shame, and punish their trans brothers and lovers for ābetrayingā them,.
A great many people who had previously identified as hard-butch lesbians because it was the only word they new moved into identifying as trans men. And because radical feminist, lesbian separatist theory had no place for any kind of men, the only way that kind of act could be frames was as treachery. The men who did so, some of whom had been stalwart feminists for decades, some of whom had even been powerful voices in second wave feminist movements, were suddenly treated as abusers, drug peddlers, and sexual criminals.
And that is why it is imperative that we refuse to let TERFs define who does and does not get to be butch. They never got to before, and they sure as hell donāt get to now.
I am all here for a great resource post and @intersex-ionality kinda knocked it out of the park with this one.
Hereās more evidence that TERFs donāt get to define anything in our community, especially not for butch people.
Bigotry has no place in our community. TERFs are bigots and have no place in our community.
Butch here! Literally all of this is historically accurate.
The butch and ftm community pretty much started out as the same community and then diverged slightly when the trans label became a thing. Before the identity existed there were butches using he/him and even taking T. For example Leslie Fienberg, the author of Stone Butch Blues, started out identifying as a butch lesbian which he explained was defined by his lack of connection to womanhood. He now identifies as trans, uses he/him pronouns, and takes T.
Every single butch Iāve ever talked to has said that they have at best an extremely convoluted and challenging relationship with their womanhood. Many experience gender dysphoria to varying degrees. A handful use he/him pronouns or change their names to be more masculine. Every butch I know described wearing femmenine stuff as numbing, humiliating, dishonest, and even painful. They describe masculine expression as empowering, genuine, exhilarating, etc and big leather jackets/boots as armor.
Some of those butches were bisexual, non-binary, trans men, etc. And you know what? Very few of them had issues with other butches but they tended to get a lot of shit from, unsurprisingly, white lesbian feminists.
My point is butch is a label for a feeling and experience more than it is an identity. If I didnāt identify as a lesbian I would still identify as butch because hypermasculinity and the expression of it is fundamental to who I am. If the hat fits, donāt let some terf bullshit keep you from it.
old dyke here, love this post/thread! ime pretty much any time you see lesbian gatekeeping including āonly lesbians can reclaim dykeā, āonly lesbians can use butch and femmeā,Ā ālesbians canāt be bi or pan tooā,Ā ād-slurā, etc.,Ā youāve found separatist/terf propaganda.Ā
This man nearly died to create this for us. The least we can do is watch it from start to finish and then share it immediately.

Was Jesus transgender?
Jay Hulme has written a fascinating thread about how theologians have understood the gender of Jesus. Even though no one thinks of Jesus as transgender in the modern sense, it is pretty clear that Jesus has been seen as crossing the gender binary.
Jay Hulme is a transgender poet, performer and education and you can find his web site here!Ā Jay is currently Poet-in-Residence at āThe Poetās Churchā, St Giles-in-the-Fields in Central London.
Recently there was some drama where news outlets got angry at a sermon which supposedly claimed Jesus was trans. Obviously the sermon did not say Jesus was trans - but it did touch on some fascinating (and very old) theology surrounding Jesus and gender. So letās talk about that.
God is not male
First Iāve gotta explain the Trinity⦠which is way too complex for twitter Suffice to say that God is not male (despite what you may have heard) and is in fact all genders and none simultaneously Jesus is God made flesh, God embodied as human. As a human man, yes, but alsoā¦
If youāve been on Trans Twitter youāll have seen the āJesus is transā jokes. Saying his chromosomes had to be XX because he couldnāt have got a Y from his Father. The meme about his side would being from top surgery But people have been playing with Jesusā gender for centuries
And the reason that people have been playing with Jesusā gender in art and theology and all that for centuries, is that Jesus gives us REASON to. So, of course, as we expand our understanding of gender in the modern world, we expand that to trans stuff too.
For all mankind
So lets talk about how, historically, the āMasculinityā of Jesus has been seen and considered, shall we?
So the whole point of Jesus is that he comes for ALL of humankind. We are told that we are all capable of, and supposed to work towards, being āchristlikeā - after all, Jesus is the embodiment of a genderless (or genderfull) God. The point is not that Jesus is a man, but a HUMAN.
And Jesus is clear about the fact that he didnāt come as āa manā but āa humanā. So clear that all of the Gospel writers agree on it. In fact, throughout the Gospels Jesus never uses the word āanÄrā (male/masculine) to describe himself. He always uses āanthrÅposā (human).
Jesus is the human incarnation of a God who is all genders and none, all at the same time; a God that has created each of us in their own image - all of us, of every gender - and therefore Jesus is not simply āmaleā, but āhumanā, and theologians have long recognised this.
Jesus as mother
Understanding that Jesus isnāt merely āmaleā, theologians have often described Jesus as a āmotherā - most famously Julian of Norwich, who wrote in the 1300ās, said: āJesus Christ therefore, who himself overcame evil with good, is our true Mother.ā
Julian of Norwich also stated āThe mother can give her child to suck of her milk, but our precious Mother Jesus can feed us with himself, and does, most courteously and most tenderly, with the blessed sacrament, which is the precious food of true lifeā
This idea of the sacrament as breast milk was not unique to Julian - many theologians drew the connection between these life giving things - even reflecting Rabbinic understandings of the Manna from Heaven as breast milk to create a long thread of understanding.
But one of the most ācontentiousā parts of the sermon that started this furore and started this thread is a particular (and long held) understanding of Jesusā side wound. Obviously, Julian has thoughts on that, tooā¦
Julian says: āThe mother can lay her child tenderly to her breast, but our tender Mother Jesus can lead us easily into his blessed breast through his sweet open side, and show us there a part of the godhead and of the joys of heaven, with inner certainty of endless bliss.ā
Jesus side wound
Medieval Christians were OBSESSED with Jesusā side wound. It was the highlight of artistic depictions, the focus of sermons, the content of visions. And one of the main things they saw it as, was some kind of portalā¦
And by āportalā, I do, of course, mean vagina. And thatās what the oh so contentious sermon said - ālook, medieval christian art saw Jesusā side wound as a vagina. Letās talk about that.ā
The idea is that Jesus gives life. Like a mother giving birth. Jesus raising Lazarus from the tomb, Jesus himself rising from the tomb, they both involve the miraculous drawing out of human life from a dark cave, along a tunnel, and into the light. Sounds a lot like childbirth.
We say that Christ died so that we could live. The Bible says it a lot. Many theologians, living in a time where death in childbirth was common, and childbirth itself could be horrifically painful drew the connection between Christās physical death on the cross and childbirth.
Theologians saw Jesusā agony on the cross as a form of ālabourā as he 'birthedā new life for all of us. And so, when the soldier pieced his side, proving he was dead, and āblood and waterā came out, they saw that as the moment of 'birthā. Like blood and water come in childbirth
With that in mind, when an opening in a body brings forth water and blood, and in the midst of that water and blood comes new life⦠itās fair to think of it as a vagina. So medieval artists, depicting that moment, depicted Jesusā side wound as such. It was a thing.
The femininity of Jesus
Thereās also all the theology that surrounded Jesusā actions: theologians living in times of strict gender roles obsessed over the āfemininityā of Jesus feeding and serving others. Even speaking to women as if they were equal. Of him taking the āfeminine roleā in his interactions
But this thread is already very longā¦
In summary: If you think itās heresy to see Jesus as āfeminineā or āmotherā or anything other than a masculine macho manly man, youāre wrong. And if you think itās āmodern woke nonsenseā, then youāve not been paying attention to centuries of theology, or the Gospels themselves.
One day Iāll do a whole thread on how it actually is Big Trans Vibes for God to shrink down to a single āgenderā and body to walk among us as Jesus, and how weird that must have been for Jesus to suddenly be āmaleā and not āthe genderweird vibe of Godā but thatās for another time
Ppl have been going BUT WHAT ABOUT 'THE SON OF MANā and my friends, the earliest Gospels weāve got are Ancient Greek and Luke 9:22 says āĻ į¼±ĻĻ Ļοῦ į¼Ī½ĪøĻĻĻĪæĻ ā Ļ į¼±ĻĻ is often translated as āmale childā but regularly applies to female children į¼Ī½ĪøĻĻĻĪæĻ means āhuman / humanityā

[TRANSCRIPTION:Ā Ā āOk I know I need to stop saying Maāam and Sir to customers at work, itās bad to assume other peopleās gender, but I canāt help it itās how I was raised. Suddenly our little game of social volleyball has turned into three dimensional gender chess and Iām eating all the pieces. Iāve got her fucking money in my hand so she knows that the only way sheās getting it back is if she solves my queer little fairy riddle and Iām not giving her any fucking clues.
Now all of a sudden this Karen is studying me with the intensity of a crime scene investigator. Sheās stuck in her Sherlock Holmes mind palace trying to figure out if These are tits or just mosquito bites. Or if Iām a woman or just one of those femboys her kids keep showing around the Tik-Tok.
In the past sixty seconds my customer has thought more about men, women, and the terrifying pit where I lie in between than she ever has in her entire life beforehand. She is stuck in my transgender genjutsu.
Now the customer is always Wrong, because even if her little game of pronoun roulette happens to land in her favour she still stood there for a fucking minute mouth agape, fully admitting that whatever Iāve got going on beneath my jeans is Far beyond her comprehension.
If Iām going to be stuck in this capitalist nightmare for all eternity then every unsuspecting mother who comes in to buy a Roblox card is going to have to suffer through a gender identity crisis with me. /END ID]
